She Knows
She knows her body is dying
She is a vision of pure strength
Making plans for her final showcase
Never missing a conversational beat
She knows her body is dying
I note her details carefully
Promise to handle matters
Agree to postpone my grief
She knows her body is dying
She has entrusted this task to me
Cognizant of the hefty duty
As she stands at the precipice of mortality
She knows her body is dying
As does the rest of the family
Though we want to deny the inevitability
That our visits will soon become memories
A lifetime of loving unconditionally
Is a wonderfully endearing legacy for my beloved auntie

Nakupenda mpenzi.
Rejected, access denied… abandoned.
No replies… and life has been extremely heavy.
We haven’t spoken in what seems like eternity.
I am here… hoping, wanting, waiting.
Where are you? Talk to me…

2013 Adult Mid-Winter Warmup Open Championships at East West Ice Palace in Artesia, CA.
This is a monumental skate considering this is the first performance, and my coach was not present… I did my best to make him proud rather than crumble beneath the pressure
Coaching and Choreography by Brandon M. Larcom.
Skating to the score from The Red Violin.
Music Edit by Sharidan Williams-Sotelo
Thanks for watching. Enjoy.

2012 National Showcase Debut
LA Showcase 2012 “They Don’t Care About Us” for Trayvon Martin
June 9, 2012
Skating in Loving Memory of Trayvon Martin
Music: Jabril/They Don’t Care About Us
Coaching: Brandon Michael Larcom
Choreography: Brandon Michael Larcom/Denise Moore
This program qualified for National Showcase (4th Place).
The original “Jabril” performance was a tribute to my cousin, Darrick Collins, Sr. On September 14, 2009 he was fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy through the wooden fence of his backyard. He was unarmed. The death of Trayvon Martin on February 26, 2012, urged me to reprise the program. They were not the first. Others have since perished in the hands of those obliged to “protect and serve”. Get involved and stay active. Its time to change the laws and police the police.
Thanks for watching.
