Her Confessional: Our Little Secret Now Available on Amazon.com!

I'm so thrilled to announce that installment two of the Her Confessional series is now available exclusively on Amazon for just $0.99. At 23,000+ words, it's a bit longer than the first installment, but if early feedback is any indication, I doubt you'll complain about more of Cameron and Sarah.

HER CONFESSIONAL: OUR LITTLE SECRET Sarah Travers has had a really bad month. First, a drunken night of sex with her best friend – and the secret love of her life – Cameron Scott resulted in him freaking out and going MIA. That would have been bad enough but then her boss, a high-powered Hollywood director, cast Cameron as the lead in his new movie and put Sarah in charge of his publicity. On the bright side, it turns out she’s rather good at it - much to the chagrin of the studio’s PR team. Now Cameron’s back in the picture and he’s made some surprising confessions of his own, taking their relationship from the friend zone to so much more.

In Our Little Secret, Sarah and Cameron are forced to deal with how their love for one another impacts their circle of friends and what it means for his career. With pressure from the studio to keep their relationship on the down low, the two must figure out how to navigate not only the pressures of such a new relationship, but also one where everyone seems to have an opinion on the type of woman Cameron should be with.
BUY IT NOW

Once you buy it and read it, don't forget to leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads! Reviews are a great way for friends and like-minded readers to decide whether or not to purchase a new read.

Cover Reveal: Her Confessional #2

Why yes, I *am* checking KDP every five minutes to see if the second installment of Her Confessional is available.

Sarah Travers has had a really bad month. First, a drunken night of sex with her best friend – and the secret love of her life – Cameron Scott resulted in him freaking out on her and going MIA. That would have been bad enough but then her boss, a high-powered Hollywood director, cast Cameron as the lead in his new movie and put Sarah in charge of his publicity. Now Sarah and Cameron are forced to deal with how their love for one another impacts their circle of friends and what it means for his career. With pressure from the studio to keep their relationship a secret, the two must figure out how to navigate not only the stresses of any new relationship, but also one under such a strong spotlight.
Our Little Secret, a 23,000-word novella, is installment two in the Her Confessional series.
I tried to use all of the same elements from The Making of a Star but it just didn't work when your pic is of a guy with rock hard abs. In the end, I had to go with something much different, and a bit more modern and contemporary. That, sadly, necessitated a rebrand of the first installment as well. Behold.

As soon as both are updated and ready for purchase I'll be sure to scream it from the rooftops.

Book Cover Ratings

After reading a few threads on book cover ratings, I decided to be brave and throw the updated cover for A TIME APART on the site. I haven't gone back to look until today and I was very happy to see how well it's doing.

There are some real beauties on that site so I want to send my heartiest congratulations out to other authors that work tirelessly to create their own fabulous covers as well. Now I'm curious to see how the cover for HER CONFESSIONAL will do since I got a lot of positive feedback on it during the virtual blog tour.

Want to throw your two cents in? Check out the site here.

Self-Publishing and Keywords

I'm not going to lie to you ... I have no freaking clue why some books sell hundreds of copies while others sell one or two here or there. I don't have the foggiest notion of how Amazon's algorithms work or why one series becomes a huge success while others languish. If I did, I'm sure my books would be doing a whole lot better than they currently are. (I just keep telling myself that I didn't become a writer to get rich.)

But ... just because I don't know how it works and I can't seem to make it work for me doesn't mean that I've given up entirely. I've devoted hours upon hours to reading tips for marketing your self-published novel, tomes on how to leverage social media to become a best-selling author, and more threads and advice columns than you can shake a stick at on how to pick your keywords. From what I can tell, keywords is really where it's at if you want to make sure that your book shows up when people are searching for a certain sort of book. I thought I had done it right, but then this weekend I read something that completely changed my outlook on how I was putting my book out there in KDP. I tried some things with my listing and people started checking my book out on Kindle Unlimited. Then I read another thread this morning and it took what I had learned this weekend and pushed it forward. I tweaked my keywords again.

I went from showing up on page 7, 10, 12, etc. in a number of searches to showing up on the first page. And in some cases, I'm showing up in front of pretty major authors with huge fandoms. I never thought I'd see the day when my book came up in a search in front of anything by Karen Marie Moning's Fever series, but there you have it. (Interestingly enough, I don't recall the Fever series having vampires, but someone at her publisher has made sure that anyone who is looking for vampire novels is sure to find Mackayla's story so there you go.)

Celtic Vampires

Ireland Vampires (alas, not "Irish Vampires" which I do not show up in)

Paranormal Romance Vampire Millionaire (Why are there bear shifters in my vampire millionaire category? Shoo bear, shoo!)

Vampire Reincarnation (Hi Amy!) (Seriously, if you haven't purchased Altered yet, you really should. It's so great.)
Time Travel Romance

Vampire Time Travel

I have no idea if showing up at the top of these search terms is going to do anything for my sales, help build my brand, or boost my visibility, but I have to tell you that it feels damn good to have at least emerged from utter obscurity. It was getting pretty lonely on page 20.

Her Confessional Now Available

Hey everyone,

Hope this message finds you well, and reading lots of great books!

I wanted to take a moment to let everyone know that I've released the first installment of the novella serial that I was talking about a handful of weeks ago.

Her Confessional The Making of a Star (Confessional #1) by Rebecca Norinne Caudill

Her Confessional: The Making of a Star is an 18,000-word novella told from the point of view of Sarah Travers, a 33-year-old BBW female living and loving in Hollywood.

Hi, I’m Sarah, a plus-size 33-year-old single woman with an amazing job as a personal assistant to a major Hollywood director. My best friend? His name is Cameron. Here’s a secret for you, something I’ve never told anyone else before: I’m in love with him. Truly, madly, deeply. I know. Bad idea, right? But that’s not even the worst of it. My biggest problem? I’m not the only one. You see, Cameron just landed the role of a lifetime and now millions of other women fancy themselves in love with him too. But this isn’t their story; it’s mine. My confessional.
