STAR TREK: DISCOVERY S108 and S109 review

I fell behind on my reviews for this week and the next so I'm sort of stuck with reviewing both simultaneously for the mid season finale. However, they work together as a single storyline which carries from one story to another. In a way, it's very similar to the original pilot of the series and brings an end to many of the preexisting plots while opening up others.
The premise for the two episodes is that the starship Discovery has discovered a planet whi...

TOURNAMENT OF SUPERVILLAINY cover sketch
Hey folks,
Progress on my books is going well with the Tournament of Supervillainy almost done. I'm extra pleased to be able to share this sketch of its guest stars with you. The Tournament of Supervillainy is a "Crisis on Infinite Earths"-esque crossover of my worlds and here's pictures of Jane Doe (I was a Teenage Weredeer) and Cassius Mass (Lucifer's Star).

Winter of 2017 Writing Update
Hey folks,
I've been working hard on numerous books and trying to decide what I'm going to do next. So, I decided I would share what is going to be coming out for the finale of Winter. These works are something I'm quite proud of and will be hopefully out soon and in your hands as readers. Note: These release dates are all subjective but should be pretty accurate.

Star Trek: Discovery episode S107

So, apparently beer pong survives into the 23rd century. That and apparently classical music includes Wyclef Jean's 1997 "We Trying to Stay Alive" which I found less believable. The premise for "Magic to make the Sanest man go mad" (which is among the worst Star Trek titles since "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry" and "For the World Is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky") is Harry Mudd has successfully seized control over the Discovery and trapped it in a thi...

Star Trek: Discovery episode S106

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY is a show which is consistently improving the more it continues but it's also doing so by moving away from what made you unique. The pilot introduced the possibility of a Star Trek "war" show which showed the Klingons and Federation in roughly equal measure. It promised space battles and a new look at Klingon culture. Unfortunately, we got waylaid with the "Spore Drive" plotline that was less than satisfying.
The past two episodes, how...

Star Trek: Discovery S105 review

"Choose Your Pain" will go down as the Star Trek where the f-word was used for the first time and also, potentially, one where we've had prison rape alluded to. It's interesting, actually, because the first one is actually less exploitative than the second one as it may well be part of a character's cover identity but more on that later.
Overall, this episode is one which feels the most like classic Trek as "The Captain is captured by aliens while the crew thinks abou...

AN AMERICAN WEREDEER IN MICHIGAN is now available

I'm pleased to say the benefit of writing my first two novels in the BRIGHT FALLS MYSTERIES has borne fruit with the second novel now out.
FROM THE BEST-SELLING AUTHOR OF THE RULES OF SUPERVILLAINY:
Life is not easy for the world's first weredeer detective. A simple hike turns into a media circus when
Jane Doe, her best friend Emma, and a pair of monster hunters find a mass grave. Determined to find the parties responsible, Jane soon discovers a sinister cult leader has decided...
