Song by Jesse Teller

I read Song by Jesse Teller twice because I needed time to appreciate the book. It is an excellent fantasy novel which chronicles the adventures of Rayph Ivoryfist. Well, sort of. Rayph Ivoryfist is not the typical wet behind the ears farmboy or grizzled mercenary in these kind of stories. He is an archmage and in many respects, THE archmage of his home kingdom. Unfortunately, Rayph does not suffer fools gladly and this has gotten him trouble with the present king of his na...

Star Wars: Solo review

Presently, Solo isn't looking too good at the box office. This is due to the fact it is a production with a severely overinflated budget and a lot of reshoots. Basically, the movie cost $300 million dollars to make and it probably won't get that back, making it the only Star Wars movie which might actually bomb.

Who doesn't want to be Han Solo?    A lot of people are questioning whether this is because of The Last Jedi's divisive narrative (I'm one of the peo...

Great review of An American Weredeer in Michigan

Trevor Hob Sherman does an amazing job explaining why AN AMERICAN WEREDEER IN MICHIGAN was such a great read. I'm so pleased he took the time to give it a read. It was one of my all time favorite books to write.

Cover sketch for CAMP DEERWOOD

There's another BRIGHT FALLS MYSTERIES novel coming as a sequel to I WAS A TEENAGE WEREDEER and AN AMERICAN WEREDEER IN MICHIGAN.

CAMP DEERWOOD!

A parody of 80s slasher movies!

Can Jane beat the Beast of Darkwater Lake?

Blackjack: Dead or Alive by Ben Bequer review

BLACKJACK is a series I very much enjoy and hope eventually gets on audiobook. It's one of my favorite supervillain series and that's a bigger subgenre of superheroes and fantasy than you'd expect. It's the story of a super-tough, super-smart archer who has the problem of being unable to employ his abilities effectively--also the fact he's internationally hated due to being blamed for the deaths of many heroes (he was only guilty of one).

Blackjack: Wayward by Ben Bequer review

BLACKJACK: WAYWARD is the sequel to the very entertaining BLACKJACK: VILLAIN that followed the adventures of a super-smart and super-tough archer who just couldn't put his formidable gifts to productive use. The ending of the previous book had an apocalyptic battle between superheroes and villains with our anti-hero saving the day but at considerable cost.

The sequel opens up with Blackjack seemingly being transported to another world as a way to contain h...

Hack/Slash Omnibus 3 review

Pfft, this one is a tough one to review. Well, okay, it's not. Hack/Slash volume 3 isn't actually that good. I was a huge fan of the first two volumes but this omnibus and its stories pushed me away from the franchise. Basically, the omnibus takes some of the flaws of the previous volumes and then exaggerates them a great deal before adding a few more.

The premise of Hack/Slash is Cassie Hack is a young beautiful Goth girl who is the daughter of a Sl...

Friday the 13th: The Game review *Updated May 24th, 2018*

I've been holding off on this one because I knew the game was going to be not really what I wanted but was probably going to be enjoyable. Just probably barely so. You see, I'm a huge Friday the 13th fan. What introduced me to the series? I'll tell you what, THE NES GAME! When I was a wee tiny tot, I got to face Jason Voorhees in one of the mostly badly designed games of all time. Except, I still remember I beat Jason ONCE during one of the boss battles. That stuck with me...
