What I’m Binge-Watching is a weekly meme to document all of our favorite binging obsessions. Follow along and let me know what you’ve been binge-watching lately!
Hey everyone! How is your week going? Are you planning to binge anything over the long weekend here in the US?
New Binges:Stranger Things
I’ve only seen Season 4 with my mom, my sister, and my sister’s boyfriend until now so this week I started binging it from the beginning. I just finished season one and am moving on to season two.
Ongoing:CSI: Crime Scene Investigation
My mom and I are now into Season 9. Warrick was just killed off.
Psych
I’m just about into Season 4 right now.
Tried but Wasn’t For Me:
I started this one last weekend but didn’t get through episode one.
On Deck On The Watchlist:Shadow and Bone Season 2
There are so many shows on my watchlist that I need to catch up on seasons of. I might as well binge Shadow and Bone once I finish Stranger Things.
What are you currently binge-watching? Let me know in the comments! Happy binging!

Can’t Wait Wednesday… Night of the Living Queers!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released.
Night of the Living Queers: 13 Tales of Terror Delight edited by Shelly Page and Alex Brown
Anthology, Horror, LGBTQ+
ebook, Hardcover, Paperback, 304 Pages
August 29, 2023 by Wednesday Books
Blurb:Night of the Living Queers is a YA horror anthology that explores a night when anything is possible, exclusively featuring queer authors of color putting fresh spins on classic horror tropes and tales.
No matter its name or occasion, Halloween is more than a Hallmark holiday, it’s a symbol of transformation. NIGHT OF THE LIVING QUEERS is a YA horror anthology that explores how Halloween can be more than just candies and frights, but a night where anything is possible. Each short story is told through the lens of a different BIPOC teen and the Halloween night that changes their lives forever. Creative, creepy, and queer, this collection brings fresh terror, heart, and humor to young adult literature.
Contributors include editors Alex Brown and Shelly Page, Kalynn Bayron, Ryan Douglass, Sara Farizan, Maya Gittelman, Kosoko Jackson, Em Liu, Vanessa Montalban, Ayida Shonibar, Tara Sim, Trang Thanh Tran, and Rebecca Kim Wells.
This week’s CWW is a little different. I first heard of this book when I was offered an eARC by the publisher. I love Halloween and horror so it appealed to me and I’m always looking to read more diverse stories. I devoured this book in a couple days. I loved most of the stories (there were a couple I was meh about but you can’t love them all) and this anthology gave me major Halloween vibes in the springtime. Why was this a CWW choice? Well I wasn’t going to read it right away and was going to have it on my TBR for August to get ready for the spooky season but I couldn’t help myself and started it last weekend.
Will you be checking this one out? What upcoming releases are you looking forward to?

First Chapter, First Paragraph, Tuesday Intros: The Stranger in the Woods

First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros is a weekly meme hosted by Socrates Book Reviews where you share the first paragraph of one of the books that you are currently reading. Each week bloggers will choose a book or books of the week (which will be one of the books that you are currently reading) and that book will take part in this book blog meme.
This week I’m participating with: The Stranger in the Woods by Kiersten Modglin
First Chapter, First Paragraph:When asked to describe her success in one word, Arlie Montgomery had chosen ironic. The interviewer had thought she was being funny, and so she’d laughed along, but in reality it was ironic. All of it. Her entire life had been ironic, but especially her career.

Arlie Montgomery is no stranger to tragedy.
In fact, tragedy brought Arlie everything she’d ever dreamed of in one fell swoop.
As a thriller author, Arlie should’ve had it easy. Growing up in the town of Crimson Falls, there was no shortage of inspiration, after all.
When her husband’s tragic death becomes national news, Arlie’s failing career skyrockets overnight. Suddenly she has everything she ever wanted, except the man she’d hoped to share her dream with.
As she approaches the anniversary of her husband’s death, Arlie finds a stranger in the woods outside of her town. A man with no memory of who he is or why he came to Crimson Falls. Desperate and lonely, Arlie takes him into her home.
With the town’s own anniversary—the cursed Founders Day—drawing near, crime levels rise and the annual murders begin. This year, the deaths take on a new twist: the killer is copying the murders from Arlie’s books.
As suspicions surrounding the stranger grow, Arlie must solve the mysteries she’s spent years writing. In a race against time, Arlie must stop the killer she may have created before he takes out the last victim from her books—her.
A standalone installment of the thrilling Crimson Falls novella series…
Do you dare to read all eight?
I’m starting this one today and I’m really looking forward to it. Would you keep reading?

The Sunday Post: Car Show Season, Movie Day, and Downsizing

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here: Sunday Post Meme.
Car Show Season, Movie Day, and DownsizingHey Bookdragons! Happy Sunday! How was your week? I was supposed to go to the eye doctor this week but there was an insurance issue so I have to look for a new doctor. Other than that things were fairly calm.
Friday was the annual car show in town and my family brought 3 cars: a 1950 Desoto, a 1958 VW Beetle (see below), and a 1950 Dodge truck. The VW was in my name and took first place in its class.

On Saturday my mom, sister, and I went to see Fast X with a family friend. Honestly the best part was the popcorn. The movie ends in a weird cliff-hanger.
In my continuation of spring cleaning I sorted and listed a bunch of books on PangoBooks in an effort to clear shelf space and rehome books I’m never going to read. If you’re interested you can check out my shop here. I have a lot of Fairyloot editions, signed books, and more!

This week I’m participating with: The Family Secret by Kiersten Modglin

Their new home has a terrifying secret.
When freshly engaged Austyn Murphy and Lowell Bass receive the news that Lowell’s parents have died unexpectedly, they set out for the historic Bass estate to handle their affairs and lay the former heads of the family to rest.
Enshrouded in layers of secrecy and tradition, the Bass estate, and the family residing within its walls, give anything but a warm welcome. When the idea of staying in the home permanently is brought up, Austyn witnesses a side of her future husband she’s never seen before.
Late one night, Austyn overhears a whispered conversation, revealing she hasn’t been given the full truth about the world she’s marrying into. And when Emily, an old friend, calls with devastating news of her own, Lowell and Austyn invite her to join them for a visit at the estate.
Upon Emily’s arrival, a confession is made, causing a rift in the seemingly impenetrable bond the girls once had. As Emily settles into their home, becoming closer to Lowell than ever before, Austyn fears she’s made a grave mistake.
Trapped inside the Bass estate under the ever-watchful eye of the staff and her soon-to-be family, Austyn makes another chilling discovery—something so terrible it changes everything.
With distressing revelations hidden around every corner and time running out before final decisions are made about her future, Austyn must uncover the truth about the opulent and powerful Bass family…at the risk of becoming another one of their dark secrets.
I didn’t know it until this moment, but I never actually expected to find anything. My breathing hitches as I reach inside, outstretching my fingers to connect with the object just inside the vent.
What do you think? Would you read this book? This one had me completely hooked start to finish!
What I’m Binge-Watching: 14-18 May 2023

What I’m Binge-Watching is a weekly meme to document all of our favorite binging obsessions. Follow along and let me know what you’ve been binge-watching lately!
Hey everyone! How is your week going? Did you notice it actually posting on Thursday for a change?!
Just Binged:Florida Man
I woke up on Mother’s Day and my mom and sister were watching this. I only saw about half of it but I thought it was kind of stupid. Also notable: this was filmed in North Carolina not Florida

Another show my mom and sister were binging that I came into when I woke up one day earlier this week. It’s alright if you like makeover shows. My sister’s boyfriend hated it though

We are just starting Season 8 today.
Other Ongoing Updates:
I’m still ongoing with Psych but I didn’t get a chance to watch it between Sunday and now because of work.
I decided not to continue with High Seas at this time. I may come back to it in the future.
Just Added to My Watchlist:I did not get to start Queen Cleopatra this week but I’m on my days off now so maybe I’ll start it tonight or tomorrow.
Love & Death
I saw the trailer for this a week or so ago and it looked good. I’ll suggest it as a show for my mom and I to try this weekend, since it’s a miniseries we should be able to binge the first 6 episodes in a day.
What are you currently binge-watching? Let me know in the comments! Happy binging!

Can’t Wait Wednesday… The Camp!

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally they’re books that have yet to be released.
The Camp by Nancy Bush
Standalone, Thriller/Horror
eBook, Paperback, 384 Pages
June 27, 2023 by Zebra Books
Blurb:The perfect summer suspense thriller, evoking 1980s horror movies set at sleepaway camps but with a fresh twist, from the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Babysitter and The Neighbors.
There are always stories told around the fire at summer camp—tall tales about gruesome murders and unhinged killers, concocted to scare new arrivals and lend an extra jolt of excitement to those hormone-charged nights. At Camp Luft-Shawk, nicknamed Camp Love Shack, there are stories about a creeping fog that brings death with it. But here, they’re not just campfire tales. Here, the stories are real.
Twenty years ago, a girl’s body was found on a ledge above the lake, arms crossed over her heart. Some said it was part of a suicide pact, connected to the nearby Haven Commune. Brooke, Rona, and Wendywere among the teenagers at camp that summer, looking for fun and sun, sex and adventure. They’ve never breathed a word about what really happened—or about the night their friendship shattered.
Now the camp, renamed Camp Fog Lake, has reopened for a new generation, and many of those who were there on that long-ago night are returning for an alumni weekend. But something is stirring at the lake again. As the fog rolls in, evil comes with it. Those stories were a warning, and they didn’t listen. And the only question is, who will live long enough to regret it?
Why I Want to Read The Camp:I love thrillers/horror novels set at summer camps since Friday the 13th is one of my favorite horror franchises. I can’t wait to see how Nancy Bush spins this one, it sounds fantastic!
Will you be checking this one out? What upcoming releases are you looking forward to?

Top Ten Tuesday: Things Getting in the Way of Reading

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish and currently hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.
Top Ten Tuesday: Things Getting in the Way of ReadingThis week’s TTT is about the things that keep us from having reading time. I don’t think I have ten but we’ll see how many I get…
1. WorkI work 6 days on 3 days off and don’t always have time to read before or after.
2. HouseworkDays off are usually spent catching up on housework, errands, and appointments.
3. Changing Sleep SchedulesSince I work nights and sleep days on my off days I have to readjust to sleeping at night and sometimes I’m so tired I go to bed earlier than normal.
I guess I’m only coming up with 3 this week. What keeps you from reading? Let me know!
