The Raven Cycle Graphic Novel Adaptation!

After sitting on the news for quite a long time, I’m delighted to be able to announce that Viking will be publishing a graphic novel adaptation of all four Raven Cycle books.

Viking has been wonderful to work with; Meriam Metoui, my editor there, happily assembled my requested team: Sas Milledge illustrating, Stephanie Williams adapting the script.

Sas has been a long-time reader of the books, so I know she’ll do a tremendous job bringing the Raven Cycle to full-color . . . what I’ve seen of her work already is marvelous.

You can read the full announcement here.

GREYWAREN bookplates & art giveaway

I’ve posted before about places to pre-order Greywaren (coming October 18), but I wanted to update with the image of the exclusive bookplate that I’ve drawn for copies pre-ordered from One More Page (US), 7 Stories (UK), and Mabel’s Fables (Canada).

But wait, there’s more! I created a fair number of thumbnails and sketches while creating the bookplate, and I’ll be tucking them into random copies of Greywaren pre-ordered from One More Page.

I didn’t say they were good! I just said they existed and someone would end up with them. 🙂

Summer Updates 2022

Now that the weather’s warming and pollen is billowing, it’s time for a miscellaneous summer update post. News on Bravely, Greywaren, The Scorpio Races, and appearances below! Please let me know on social media if I’ve missed any big questions and I’ll update.

BRAVELY

Fiona Hardingham, audiobook narrator

Bravely, the YA novel sequel to the Disney movie Brave, has come out (and hit the NYT Bestseller list, thanks!). All the signed, personalized pre-ordered copies have shipped, but you can still order signed copies from One More Page here.

• The Bravely audiobook, read by Fiona Hardingham (one of the narrators from The Scorpio Races!) is out as well, and you can listen to a snippet here.

• A UK edition of Bravely is slated for later this year; I’ll update when I get more info!

GREYWAREN

•Greywaren, the final book in the Dreamer Trilogy, comes out October 18th this year.

• You can pre-order signed, personalized copies with exclusive bookplate of my art from One More Page as always.

• I’ll once again be working to offer those same signed bookplates to UK pre-orders purchased through Seven Stories. I’m also working on coordinating similar arrangements for Australian and Canadian readers again! I’ll update with links when I have them.

• Scholastic coordinates special editions such as Owlcrate editions and alt covers, and I’ll post updates here as soon as I have them.

• Expect the cover & summary reveal the first week of June! I can tell you already that I did my utmost to write an explosive, satisfying conclusion to the story I began in Call Down the Hawk, a final installment with an excess of answers, kisses, fires, and reconciliations—I hope it’ll be a joyful comfort read for those who have spent the last decade with these characters.

• Will Patton returns again to narrate this last installment.

10th Anniversary Editions of The Scorpio Races

If you missed out on Owlcrate’s 10th Anniversary Scorpio Races edition & box, you can snag a copy here. It comes with a lot of swag (all pictured) as well as a reversible cover featuring my art.

APPEARANCES & WORKSHOPS

SCOTLAND: I have a ticketed public event in Edinburgh this July, sandwiched between two retreats/workshops I’m leading. Info here.

WASHINGTON DC: In July, I’ll be at ApollyCon, info here.

OCTOBER: Covid and general health permitting, I will have a handful of events for Greywaren this fall, stay tuned.

IN-PERSON RETREATS: I’m running four of these this year, but they are all sold out. You can add yourself to the waitlist here.

VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS: Currently I have a 5-week, 20 hour writing class going on that I’ll be holding again in August. Info for that here. You can also get added to a mailing list for virtual events here.

Spring Tour Appearances

Spring has reluctantly sprung and it’s nearly time for Bravely’s release date!*

Kirkus said it was “A different kind of fairytale, for older and wiser readers.” And the Bulletin of the Center for Children’s Books said, “The ensuing adventures, liberally embroidered with atmospheric settings & Scottish lore, offer insight into characters old & new, especially (& touchingly) queen Elinor.”

You can read the beginning here, if you want to decide if it’s right for you.

*unless you are in Australia. Then, not only is it not Spring, but also, Bravely has already hit bookstore shelves.

I’m also delighted to report that Fiona Hardingham, the voice of Puck in The Scorpio Races’ audiobook, has returned to narrate the audiobook, which is also out May 3rd.

For the first time since COVID, I’ll be doing a limited tour to celebrate the book’s release, and, because of festival scheduling, I’ll be doing a few of the events before the official release date of May 3rd (don’t worry, there will be books available for sale at each of the venues).

You can find me here:

4/23: LA Festival of Books, Los Angeles, CA
4/30: YallFest, Santa Monica, CA
5/1: Denver, Tattered Cover (Colfax location), 6 pm.
5/2: Salt Lake City, King’s English, 6 pm.
5/4: San Diego, Mysterious Galaxy, 7 pm.
5/6: Virtual event w/ An Unlikely Story, 7 pm.
5/7: Arlington, VA, One More Page, 2 pm (offsite event! Held at Arlington Central Library).
5/10: Harrisonburg, VA, Books-A-Million, 4 pm.

As always, I’m happy to sign books brought from home, too, but the number I’ll be able to sign/ personalize will be dictated by how many folks are in attendance. I’ve no idea how many folks to expect, so let’s both be . . . uh . . . be nimble, I guess? Also worth noting that three of these events are outdoors events (King’s English will be held on the patio, although masks will be required inside), and any COVID-related questions about the venue should be directed at the individual stores.

If you can’t make it to a tour event, you can always order a signed and personalized copy from One More Page right up until the official release date, 5/3.

See you there!

Pre-order 2022 Releases: BRAVELY & GREYWAREN

This year, I have not one but two new young adult novels coming out—both of them are books I feel passionately about, and I can’t wait for readers to get their hands on them.

The first release is BRAVELY, the standalone fantasy sequel to the Disney film Brave. I was so pleased when Disney tapped me to write this one. I majored in history, with a concentration in early medieval/ Scottish history, and I grew up playing the bagpipes and harp with multiple bands. This family drama of stagnation and change felt like coming home. It comes out May 3rd.

Pre-order BRAVELY here:

One More Page (signed, personalized copies)

Indiebound

Amazon

Barnes & Noble

Books-A-Million

Chapters/Indigo

And the second release of the year is GREYWAREN, the final book in the Dreamer Trilogy, the last book in the world of the Raven Cycle. Exactly ten years after the first book, The Raven Boys, came out, readers will find out how the Lynch family came to be the way they are, and say goodbye to the dreams and dreamers for good.

It comes out October 18th.

Pre-order GREYWAREN here:

Stay tuned for other news and goodies related to the books as the year goes on!
