Picture A leather clad woman walked past them with a man on a leash and Simone’s mouth gaped open. She tried to speak and just couldn’t. She was both horrified and aroused. Heat pooled between her legs as she watched them walk away. She wanted to be cherished by someone like that. Her eyes slid up and down the people in front of her, her jaw clenching as she rejected the idea of being restricted in such a way.

The woman slid her hand over the man’s hair and tilted his face up to look at him, bending down to drop a kiss on his lips. Her eyebrows rose at the tender gesture. So maybe she didn’t want a leash and a collar, but to be loved and trusted like that would be a wonderful thing.

What was the question again? Oh yeah. “Because he didn’t want me.”

Nicola snorted inelegantly as she leaned against the black wall. “You don’t know that.”

Simone narrowed her eyes at her best friend. How would Nicola know? They’d never really talked about it.

“I do. He told me I was too innocent for someone like him. He obviously thought a virgin soon-to-be ex-student was too pitiful.”

Tears sprang to her eyes and she swallowed down the lump that had risen in her throat. When she had approached Professor Patrick Smythe at her graduation, half-intoxicated with champagne, he had turned her down flat. She had dismissed it at the time, but later she had been horrified. His rejection had sent her diving under the covers with a box of chocolates for a week.

Nicola stepped closer and slipped her warm, soft hand into Simone’s. It was reassuring and kind, reminding Simone how much she missed her friend. Between full-time work, paying bills, family commitments and keeping house, she didn’t make time to just hang out with her friends anymore. Growing up sucked sometimes.

Rhythmic tribal music was playing softly in the background and Simone found herself focusing on it as Nicola tightened her hold on her hand.

“That wasn’t the reason at all. Come with me.”

Simone’s head came up with a start and she yelped as Nicola dragged her down the hall. Where were they going now? People were everywhere, milling around a large common area with a bar and lounges. Some were standing, others were kneeling. Just about everyone was wearing leather and had piercings of some sort. One woman had what looked a type of corset on her back. The rings were piercing her skin and a black ribbon ran through them like an old fashioned corset would. It looked beautiful, though painful.

There were more red doors off the room and screams of pleasure and pain echoed throughout the club over the music. Simone flushed again and dropped her eyes. She may as well have painted “first timer” on her forehead. Ever since she had read Fifty Shades of Grey, she had been intrigued by the lifestyle, but that didn’t mean she was ready to experience it. When she had mentioned it to Nic in the course of conversation, her friend had promised to take her to a BDSM club she knew of. Never in her wildest dreams did Simone think Nic would actually do it.

Her breath caught in her throat, making her gasp. What was she doing here?

“Come on sweetie,” Nicola urged. “I really need to show you something.”

Simone tugged down the black top she had worn over black pants. Nicola had told her not to display her boobs or her knees, and to wear all black. She was there to blend into the walls, as though Simone needed to be told that. Blending in to the background was her way of life.

“Where are we going?”

Nicola grabbed her hand and tugged. “A man’s doing a scene that you just have to see.”

Simone frowned, perverse excitement and downright terror fighting each other for supremacy in her head. Her heart rate had almost doubled and a fine sheen of sweat covered her face and the back of her neck. Fear of the unknown may have won out if it weren’t for the reassuring press of her best friend’s hand in hers.

“Okay, let’s go.”

Nicola stepped over to one of the red doors and opened it. At once a wave of heat hit Simone’s face, reminding her of an intense summer’s day. The room was darker than the foyer and she blinked a few times, waiting for her eyes to adjust to the dim light.

When she could finally see well enough, she looked up to see why Nicola had been so insistent that they come into this particular room. Heat flooded her entire body, followed by a cold flush as a gasp escaped her. The man, who was the main focus of the room, was Patrick. Her ex-professor wore tight leather pants that clung to him in an almost indecent way. He was shirtless and had what looked like a flogger in his hand. He looked in control, powerful and magnificent.

Happy Book Birthday to Through Her Eyes! #Suspense #excerpt

I've got Amber Morgan here today to share a smidge about her newest release, Through Her Eyes!

Take it away, darlin'! Picture Between submitting THROUGH HER EYES for publication and completing the final edits, I found myself reading a lot of true crime books. Lots of stuff on criminal profiling, unsolved cases, and serial killers. It was coincidence, but it was also great timing when the edits came in! I didn't want to make the story procedural-heavy, but as the hero, Dom, is a police detective, I think I was able to make him a little more real by working in some of the facts I'd picked up. I was also able to flesh out the villain of the story by adding in little behavioural cues based on real-life serial killers. I didn't want to shoehorn anything in, like “look at me, I read some stuff!!!”, but hopefully the extras I did squeeze in help to build the tension and chills in the story!

Picture

Six years ago, Keira nearly died at the hands of a serial killer. The experience left her with more than just physical scars. She was psychically linked to the killer, a helpless witness to all his crimes. Now the man known as the Shoreditch Slasher has killed again, and Keira is dragged right back into his path. Detective Dom Abbott believes Keira's link to the killer will help the police finally catch him, even if it means putting the woman he loves in danger. With Dom to protect her, Keira is willing to risk almost anything...But where will her strange gift lead her?

Picture His intentions were fiercely clear when he kissed her.

She gasped into his mouth, thrilled by the heat of his kiss. He knotted one hand in her hair, forcing her head back. At the same time, he backed her against the wall, pinning her in place while he devoured her mouth with his, forceful and almost painfully demanding. She moaned, a mixture of pleasure and pain. His touch, his kiss, his hands... It was all exquisite, but this position – forced against the wall, held firm by a powerful man... It stirred dark memories.

Dom must have sensed her inner turmoil, because he broke the kiss, stepping back with a groan. "Dammit, Keira—"

"I don't want you to stop," she said quickly, afraid he'd end things before they'd even begun.

"I'm not bloody stopping." He gripped her shoulders, pulling her in close. "Believe me, I'm not. But all the times I imagined fucking you, Keira Swanson, I never once imagined doing it in my front room with a half-eaten pizza at our feet."

She laughed, heart hammering and making her feel bold and reckless. "How did you imagine it?"

"All kinds of ways." He traced her lips with his finger. "Rough, slow, in silk sheets, in the shower, with blindfolds, strawberries, ice cubes, handcuffs..." He ground against her and nipped her earlobe. Keira shivered in delight, pressing back against him. "Drove myself mad imagining all the things we could do. But pizza boxes were definitely never involved."

She shivered pleasurably, electricity seeming to zip between her clit and her nipples at his words and his touch. She'd imagined it too – all those scenarios and countless more, and the thought of actually doing it was as surreal as any outer-body experience. It made her fears about initiating intimacy fall away. Dom wanted her. It was plain in every line of his body, in the way he pushed his hips against her, the way he stared at her so hungrily. She didn't need to wonder how to do this. It would be as natural as breathing.

Picture Picture I rounded the couch, but halted as a body came into view.

Cole lounged against the far side, one hand behind his head, half-empty beer bottle in the other. “Hey.”

Our gazes collided, sending a shock wave of energy through my blood. My heel itched to spin, but his focus wandered down my body and back up again, lingering on my bare thighs.

Oh, the temptation to taste him one more time. Three years of simmering desire had my kettle ready to scream hallelujah. “Hey,” I whispered back. “I thought you’d left.”

His smile melted my bones. “Decided to stay a while and reminisce.”

My lips tugged up. “I was eyeing the back of the couch while stealing some whiskey and doing the same thing.” Kind of.

“Care to join me?”

I considered the cushion closest to me and bit on the inside of my lip as temptation and love for the sexy man a few paces away warred in my brain. Knowing I owed Cole an apology, I decided to sit, curling my legs under me. “Sorry for being so harsh earlier. I…I didn’t mean to hurt you.”

Cole twisted sideways to place the bottle on the coffee table. “I shouldn’t have cornered you like that.” He started to sit up, but hesitated, a question in his eyes.

“It’s all right. I won’t run.”

The leather squeaked as he swung his feet to the floor and leaned back, hands on his thighs. His blue tie hung loose, the top two buttons of his dress shirt unbuttoned. A hint of dark hair called out to my fingers. Averting my eyes, I focused on the tumbler clasped in both my hands.

“I know I’ve said it hundreds of times, Gwen, but I’m sorry. Please say you forgive me.”

Another gulp of whiskey gave me courage to speak. “Forgiving in my mind means making things right—getting back to normal and moving on.” I lifted my head enough to focus on the knot of his tie. “I can’t do that with you, Cole.”

“Why not?”

“Because even though it’s expected you’ll marry an uptight, snobbish princess,” I sucked in air and allowed the words to spew, “I want you every second of the day.”

His chest stopped its rise and fall, and I glanced up at his face.

Mistake.

Longing like I’d never known reached out from his eyes and froze me in place. My breath caught. Nipples pebbled beneath my thin shirt.

Every muscle in my body quivered as he stood and walked toward me, unwavering gaze on my face.

“What—” I licked my lips, hating how my voice wavered. “What are you doing?”

“Give me the whiskey.”

My pulse thrummed with life, and I put the glass in his outstretched hand.

He set it on the coffee table without breaking eye contact and leaned down, placing his hands against the back of the couch on either side of me, making an effective cage. His face hovered mere inches from mine.

I breathed in as he exhaled, the subtle scent of peppermint flooding my mouth with saliva. His lower lip called out to my teeth; the shadow lining his jaw begged for my tongue.

“Did you mean what you said about once being enough, Gwen? Because it’s not for me. I want to taste every inch of your skin. Bury myself inside you.”

My breath caught, and moisture flooded my panties making me squirm on the cushion.

I opened my mouth, having no idea what words would tumble out, but he swooped down, capturing my parted lips before I could speak.

Blessed Mary, mother of God.

#MidWeekTease: Iyana Jenna's The Recording Room M/M #Romance #Horror

Picture Happy Hump Day!

Today, I have the lovely Iyana Jenna and a snippet from her newest release, The Recording Room.

Enjoy!

Lucian gasped when Nate suddenly engulfed him in his strong arms. His initial reaction was to push the man away, but just like with their hands earlier, Lucian immediately felt as if accepting Nate’s hug was the right thing to do, and this was the right place for him to be. So that was just what he did, accept and lean into Nate’s hard body. A mild, musky, spicy scent attacked his nostrils and he breathed it in fully. It was a departure from the sea breeze and citrus scents Payton had favored, but Lucian didn’t mind.

He was surprised by his own thoughts. Who was he to think such things? He had just lost his boyfriend of three years yet now he gladly accepted another man’s comfort? He gave a sudden jerk back.

Nate gaped, startled. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m sorry. I can’t do this.”

That surprised look was now mixed with hurt. Lucian felt like reaching out to Nate.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean…I was just…”

“You’re just lost and alone, but confused, too. Well, you should know you’re not alone. I’m here. I’ll listen anytime you want to talk more about it.”

Lucian stared at Nate, suddenly curious. Nate had been too…accepting. But Lucian felt comfortable with him. It was as if he’d known the man for a long time. Still, he needed to ask.

“It didn’t surprise you that I was with a man?”

Nate’s eyes flickered and he smiled a little. “No, it didn’t. When I first met you, I thought how beautiful you are and it’d be too bad if you had a girlfriend. But honestly, I’m sorry you lost your boyfriend.”

“Huh? When we first met, you blew up at my grandmother and me.”

“I was blown away by your beauty. I just tried to cover it up.”

“Bullshit.”

They both laughed.

Gia Falconetti was taken by the Tyranns in the first wave of invasions on Earth, and sent to the holding cells. But she was lucky. She got away from the men who had taken her as their sex slave. When the opportunity comes to work in the Ministry on Sera, writing down her experiences for the people of both Sera and Addo, she jumps at the chance to help others understand what is truly happening on Voyeur Moon.

Addonian warriors Thane and Rune have come to work in the same department as consultants. They fall hard for Gia, but she has demons that might prove too much for the men to help her overcome. When Thane and Rune go along on the mission to rid Voyeur Moon of the Tyranns forever, their most fervent wish is to return to Gia, the woman they have grown to love.

Picture Rune lay next to her, brushing his fingers up and down her arms, slowly, sending tiny jolts of electricity straight to her clit. It throbbed now, and her pussy was soaked. Happy thoughts filled her head as Thane’s tongue circled her breasts through her top and camisole. Thoughts of Earth, and her life back home, and times when sex was fun and she looked forward to it.

He brushed his fingertips over her nipples, hardening them to the point of pain. She moaned loudly as he rolled the hem of her top upward. When Rune moved to her legs, she writhed against his touch. His hands were on her thighs, teasing, moving her legs apart gently. She let him, spreading them herself after a moment.

They all wore jeans here, which would have made her laugh if not for the fact that they’d basically stolen them from Earth after the invasion. But now, she was almost grateful for the fact that she’d changed into a pair instead of staying in the skirt she’d worn to work, because the heavy fabric would mask her wetness for a while longer. She shouldn’t be embarrassed that they aroused her this way, and she wasn’t entirely sure why she didn’t want them to know. They would want this for her. To know they could do this to her.

Thane kissed her breasts through her clothes, and she let out a loud groan then pushed his head closer, wanting more. When he pulled off her top, he watched her face carefully, as if unsure whether to keep going.

"It’s okay,” she whispered. “I’m ready now.”

He pushed down her camisole straps, then pulled the fabric down further, exposing her breasts. “You’re beautiful, Gia.” He kissed both everywhere but on the nipples, holding them in his big, strong hands as if they were fine china and might break.

She whimpered and panted, sure she’d go out of her mind with desire. Between her legs, Rune rubbed his palm over her pussy and clit, and that forced loud moans from her. She was close to an orgasm. She hadn’t had one in so long she wasn’t sure she’d need to be touched directly on her clit to make it happen.

Thane removed her camisole at the same time Rune slid down her jeans and panties. He removed her shoes, and then she was naked with both men. Rune sat back on his heels and gazed at her with nothing short of awe in his beautiful eyes. “Wow.”

His brother sat up and let his gaze travel over her body. “Yeah. What he said. You’re stunning. Truly.”

She couldn’t hold back the tears now. “So are you. Both of you. Thank you for this. For everything. For being so gentle and patient, and for helping me get here, to this point.”

Rune shook his head. “Oh, Gia. I wish we could take it all away for you.”

“You are. You’re replacing it. Please don’t stop.”

Rune kissed her abdomen, and then he trailed his tongue over both thighs, up and down, until Gia could do nothing but moan. Thane took her breasts in his hands and licked her nipples, sending electricity once again straight to her pussy. When he began to gently suck and bite them, she cried out in pleasure.

Between her legs, Rune brushed his fingers over her wet pussy, and then he bent his head to lick her and suck her clit.

Except Shelley hasn’t called. Hasn’t come by. Didn’t even bother to join her son and his girlfriend for Ethan’s annual I’m-a-year-older breakfast.

What Ethan doesn’t know is that Shelley has plans. Plans that have been in progress for weeks. Ones that Ethan will never see coming, and that she’s banked on him not knowing a thing about.

She can only hope her secrecy doesn’t force his inner wolf to the surface—at least, not too early.

*Can be read as a standalone.

Enticed on Amazon US | Amazon UK | Barnes & Noble | Kobo iTunes | Enticed in print Picture Picture Sinking down onto the edge of my bed, I worked a finger under the flap and took out a regular old birthday card with a chimp on the front and a simple ‘Happy Birthday’ printed across its top in bulky orange letters. Nothing romantic. No hearts. No confessed feelings. No nouns pronouncing who the recipient might be to the sender.

Though, what could she get one with, anyway? To my boyfriend? My face screwed up at that title. My mate? Somehow, I doubted they did those at Hallmark.

Even so, I found myself opening it, like some part of me hoped she had more to say with her own words than with those fabricated by some anonymous message maker.

Four envelopes marked 123, and 4 had been tucked inside.

Moving those out of the way revealed more of Shelley’s neat handwriting across the inner fold of the greeting card. A cryptic note of: ‘What? Did you think this was it?

I frowned, my eyes scanning downward to another little note.

Pssst, in case you can’t figure it out, the envelopes are number-ordered for a reason. Open them. You know you want to.

“What the hell’s got into you, Shel?” I muttered, though my lips twitched even as I set down the card and three of the envelopes, and ripped at the flap of number one.

No card sat inside it. No note. Just a tiny black rag of … I grabbed it between my two fingers and slid it out. Lace?

Lifting it to my nose, I sniffed. A faint whiff of Shelley lingered on its surface, but otherwise, it just had that new fabric smell I’d have expected from the stiffness of the strip.

Setting it aside, I lifted number two, tore through the stuck-down flap, and peered inside.

A couple of glossy photos peeked back, and I withdrew them. Stared at the first one. Tried to figure out what the hell the pinkish-but-not-pink, creamy looking whatever the shot seemed to be of. I shuffled out another from behind it—same thing. Kind of. Except the second one had a couple of ridges.

Only when looking at the third did I notice the faint porous-like indentations, the delicate downy-looking hairs, and realised it was a close-up of … “Skin? Lace … and skin?”

Despite my narrow-eyed frown, my lips curved. Shelley was definitely—definitely—up to something.

And experience warned it would be something really bad.

Or something painfully good.

I could say it started at the tip of a pitchfork—but that wasn't my fault.  I was forced into writing, the only way I have ever done any activity involving manual labour (except boudoir activity).  But, despite my misgivings, writing seemed like the perfect occupation, involving little effort and the possibility of being paid for spinning yarns.  Not that anything I write is less than the full and complete truth, of course.  Another benefit is that one does not get one's hands dirty in this occupation, except mayhap a little ink on the fingers now and then.  Although one can be accosted by an angry person who claims to have been slandered.  It is surprising how agitated a dullard or half-wit can become when described as a dullard or half-wit—and someone reads to him what I had written.  I must stop reading my words to dullards and half-wits in person, but only a dullard or half-wit can be easily paid or pushed into doing something stupid to the face of a potentially angry person, so it is a trap of my own making, I suppose.  The pen may be mightier than the sword, but it is also quite effective at stimulating a quick and strenuous response with just a quick jab.

Anything you would've done differently if you could do it all over again?

I would be more handsome, more beautiful than I already am!  I am jesting, of course, as such a thing is simply not possible.  I am already far more fetching to the eye, enrapturing in bearing, and engaging with my personality and wit that any improvement is, frankly, quite inconceivable.  Can a fire grow any hotter?

So let me think of an alternative.  I suppose I would have Grandpap be less of an old skinflint, the type of a wizard who squeezes even the smallest coin until it gives birth to a duplicate.  His frugality is only a boon in that I can search out and find the coins he has squirreled away and never spent.  He could be living in a grand house, eating the finest foods and drinking the types of wines that do not burn the gullet, but it seems to give him joy to live in a cottage that could be confused with that of the village blacksmith or miller.  Of what use is goald if it does not give pleasure?

This is what I would do differently if I could go back and change the course of my life.  I would pick a much better family, one with more grace, poise, elegance, taste, and wealth.  In my mind, a proper grand-sire would dote on me for the full length of each and every day.

This would also include changing our village.  I would fill it with comely lasses, dressed in the finest gowns, so many beautiful young maidens I could court a different one each day and never run out of new possibilities.  Fetching young maidens who would jostle and claw each other, fighting to get closer to me to beg for my affections—and fetch me food and drink.  For some unexplainable reason, the thought of maidens fighting fills me with excitement.  I shall have to think about how I could turn such a concept into reality.

Picture “You know, I really hate Harnaru,” I said, thinking about the scorned canvasses stacked against a wall in my studio room’s tiny closet. “I never should have tried painting something I hated,” I muttered to myself. I’d half-forgotten Matt’s presence.

His silence lasted a long minute, as if he was immersed in deep thought. Then he captured my hand in a firm grasp. “Why did you come to Harnaru?”

I glared. “It was a far as my savings would take me in this system, third class,” I snapped. I resented these questions. On the frontier planets, no one so much as poked into anyone else’s past. Everyone took it for granted that you wouldn’t be crazed enough to stray out here if you weren’t trying to outrun bad memories or grim situations. It was common courtesy not to ask about anyone’s past, like I was trying not to do to Matt Lorins. What demon is he escaping out here on the frontier? Mine? A manipulative family.

Matt’s strange dark eyes steadily absorbed my mutinous look. “Would you like to leave Harnaru?” he asked, keeping his intense gaze fixed on me.

“As soon as I save up enough for a ticket somewhere else,” I vowed through clenched teeth.

“Would you like to leave sooner than that?”

“What do you mean?” My tone came out brittle, and I was sorry to be acting hostile to Matt, who had just treated me to a wonderful—up to that point—evening.

Was that green haze clouding over his eyes? Was there something wrong with the torch lights? I blinked, and they’d regained their unusual dark aspect with their central fireworks. Maybe that Sauran cordial deserved more respect. I filed away a mental note not to touch another drop that night.

“What I mean, Kailiri, is that I have enjoyed this evening with you and I’ve no desire to see it end,” he said quietly. He drew a deep breath and tightened his arm about my waist. “But it’s your decision as to how we shall go on from here.”

My eyes widened. He was an attractive, intelligent man with beautiful manners—and he hadn’t asked me to split the tab. If he was alluding to spending the rest of the night together, I might be persuaded—if he got me in the mood…. But that other thing he’d mentioned about leaving the planet raised my alarms. The media had inundated the public with stories about off-world abductors and slavers snaring unwary females.

Conscious of the close-by crowd, I lowered my voice. “What does leaving Harnaru have to do with this evening?” I sounded belligerent to my own ears and winced.

Matt gave me a lazy, charming smile before he lowered his head and covered my lips with his. My breathing must have stopped, because my head felt giddy. Spontaneous tingling shot through me under the spell of his warm, questing lips.

He raised his head, and a puzzled frown drew his dark brows together over his compelling eyes. Then he captured my dazed look in his unblinking stare. Gazing into his eyes this close, with his desirable lips poised a mere finger’s length away, felt like drowning in a dark pool lit with green-and-golden fire sparks. An insidious chill crept through my body and surrounded my heart, and I couldn’t suppress the quiver that seized me.

At first I thought the shiver response sprang from a creeping chill caused by cooled-down desert air borne into Marnu upon a sly night breeze. But when Matt’s arms encircled me and drew me closer, as if the diners didn’t exist on the balcony, I knew the chill’s source sprouted from a deep uneasiness. Would harm befall me with this man?

I couldn’t think. One kiss had toppled me into turmoil, and the shivering continued. It was like standing unprotected out in a blinding, wind-driven snowstorm on Dearleth.

Matt rose from the balcony wall, drawing me with him. He guided me from the noisy crowd to a less brightly lit, unoccupied balcony area. He studied me with unsettling intensity before he stepped close and covered my quivering lips with his.

Was there urgent need in his kiss? In mine? With the numbing cold enveloping me, I couldn’t tell.

He moved back, searching my eyes. “Are you afraid of me, Kailiri?” he whispered.

I wasn’t certain if I nodded or shook my head because the tremors had intensified and rocked my body.

He gently grasped my chin, effectively capturing my fear-distracted attention. “You should be,” he said softly….

Picture D. Martin likes science and finding out how things work. She was one of those annoying kids, who drove her mom and teachers nuts with continual questions of “Why?” Her career as science researcher gave her the opportunity to play in labs and create some pretty neat stuff—and maybe advance technology a little.

She believes a person can never have too many books. She reads everything, but is fond of science fiction, fantasy, and romance. World cultures fascinate her. She loves science fiction movies and once wanted to be an astronomer to find out what’s ‘out there’. She lives in the Midwest with her husband and daughter, who are both very understanding when she’s off the planet writing.
