Thomas Allen currently lives on a working ranch in Central Texas. He spent 25 years as a popular Philosophy Professor at Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas and was known by his colleagues as a renaissance man because of his ability to enliven the conversation on an endless number of topics.
Although Jenny Kissed Me! came about quite by accident, writing was not foreign to Allen who had earlier entertained the thought of a novel. Through the years, he had frequently been known to quote impromptu poems—anything from Ogden Nash to Shakespeare—depending on what triggered his brain. Forrest Gump & Jenny Curran
In 1994, everyone was talking about the movie Forrest Gump, and I was curious. However, nothing I heard prepared me for what I experienced. Though it was not advertised as such, it was a beautiful love story from childhood to adulthood. Of the many unforgettable scenes in the movie, my favorite was the one where Jenny is ascending the stairs and is halted by Forrest’s words, “Why don’t you love me Jenny? I’m not a smart man but I know what love is.” Though he was burdened by an IQ of 75, and Jenny was hindered by a background of an abusive father leading to promiscuity and drug addiction, both of them could see only beauty and goodness in one another. The depiction of their unconditional love was as inspiring as I’ve ever seen. That’s why I cherish their relationship in the movie.

Yesterday, one of our cows brought her new Read more of this blog post »

Thomas Allen Thomas Allen said: " Some folks are bothered that most love stories seem a bit contrived and have a suspension of belief. They normally label themselves as realists—“not into that fairy-tale stuff.” But what better way to deal with the real world, 24/7, than to take a br ...more "
