The Reunion Book Giveaway Contest
For the for the next week, starting today and running till next Tuesday, September 18th, we are celebrating the release of my new novel, The Reunion, with a 10-book giveaway contest! Five winners will each receive a signed copy of The Reunion, as well as my third novel, The Deepest Waters. I’m including this book because it was named a finalist for an ACFW Carol Award (book-of-the-year). I’ll find out if it wins in a couple of weeks in Dallas at ACFW’s big convention.
It’s easy to enter, and there are several ways.
Sign up to receive my newsletter this week, which you can do on this website very easily (I only send out 3-5 a year).
“Like” my Facebook author page during this week. Here’s the link:

If you’ve already done both of these two things, you can still enter by sending me an e-mail. Just put “The Reunion Book Giveaway Contest” in the subject line and leave me a brief note (you can email me by using the Contact button to the left).
At the end of the contest, I will gather up the names from these three sources and pick the winners “out of the hat.”
Thanks for participating, look forward to hearing from you.

The Reunion is Here (and 2 Book Recommendations)
My sixth novel with Revell, The Reunion, has released a week early. It’s officially due out on September 1st, but people are telling me Amazon has already begun to ship it, and it’s also already available on Kindle and Nook (that’s never happened before). It’s already begun to receive some crazy-good reviews from some great places. In some ways, it seems to be coming out of the gate stronger than any of my other books have. Here are a few …read more

Living and ‘Staying’ In Today
One of the most valuable and yet most challenging things I’ve been seeking to master in recent years is the idea of living for the Lord one day at a time. My goal is to awaken each day aware of my complete dependence on Him and to very quickly yield my heart and thoughts toward Him. The best reason for this is simple. This is how Jesus lived, the way He related to His Father. We never see Jesus wrestling …read more

Mid-summer Updates
We’re just about halfway through the summer, and it’s been as busy as I predicted. It’s been about six weeks since I’ve done a blog update on my writing life. Today, I’ll bring you up to speed. My Trip to Grand Rapids Back in mid-June, I was flown up to Grand Rapids, Michigan to visit with my publishing team at Revell (Revell is a division of Baker Publishing Group). This was an exciting trip on many levels for me. For …read more

Perfect Peace – Recognizing the Power of Drift
“Drift is always away.” I heard this quote at a pastor’s conference several years ago in a message by a man I deeply respect, David Powlison. He’s an author and Christian counselor, and on this occasion he was sharing things he’d learned about how to have an effective quiet time. You might think such a message would be unnecessary in a room full of pastors. Not so. Pastors are often very busy people and can struggle, like anyone else, to …read more

Perfect Peace – Orphans No More
As we study what is necessary to live the Christian life free from things like worry, fear and anxiety we bump into a subject we don’t often consider. I’m referring to the Fatherhood of God. I don’t mean that Christians are unfamiliar with the term, God the Father. Because we are. We are very familiar with it. Jesus introduced it to us, and He referred to God as His Father on a regular basis in the gospels. Even the Our …read more

Am I the “Nicholas Sparks of Christian Fiction?”
After my second novel came out in 2010, I began to read comparisons of my books to bestselling love-story author, Nicholas Sparks, more and more in magazine, blog and customer reviews. It hasn’t happened just once or twice. Actually, after the release of my last novel, The Discovery, I’ve stopped counting. Here are a few examples: “Walsh demonstrates that, like Nicholas Sparks, men are capable of writing romantic fiction.” - RT Book Reviews Magazine “Walsh’s emotional work matches the compelling …read more

Looks Like a Busy Summer
Things are going well with my current work-in-progress, Book 2 of my fiction series with Dr. Gary Smalley. I’ve been writing it through the month of May and I’ve just passed the 25% mark. Gary provided some excellent input to make the beginning so much better. It’s been great to work with him on this. Really, writing this book will be my primary project for the balance of the summer. It’s due in by the end of August. Gary and …read more

The Slippery Slope of Anxious Thoughts
It’s amazing how powerful negative thoughts can be if they hit you at just the right time. Some Christians might call such thoughts “attacks of the devil,” and some of them may well be. Paul gives some credibility to this idea in a familiar passage in Ephesians Chapter 6 about the full armor of God. In context, he is talking about battling spiritual forces of evil. He uses the metaphor of a soldier starting off his day by putting on …read more

On the Road Again – Some Travel Updates
My newest novel, The Discovery, has been out about 7 weeks now and doing well. As of now, there are 55 customer reviews on Amazon, averaging 4.6 Stars. Very grateful for that. And we’ve received some extremely good reviews from a number of magazines and blogs, such as: USA Today, RT Book Reviews, Crosswalk.com and Christianbook.com (to name a few). Tomorrow (Sat), I’ll be traveling to Orlando for a booksigning at a Lifeway Christian store between 1-3pm with fellow bestselling …read more
