Know Thyself
Life has a habit of getting away from us. It certainly has a habit of getting away from me. My To Do list should be written on an old fax roll. Or better, toilet paper, because that's where I feel it should go, down the pan.
So it was a spare of the moment decision, like the day before, to add another job to my overwhelming list - a job that would take all day: attending the internet based

Horse-Raiding in the Starlight
Not me, I hasten to add, but Winter Man, the hero of Beneath The Shining Mountains.
Across on my http://lindaacaster.blogspot.com #SampleSunday is in full swing with the opening of Chapter 3 available to read. Now that Moon Hawk has delivered her challenge the story is focusing for a while on Winter Man, determined to call her bluff by producing a coup that she will have no option but to acknowledge. But from the start the trip does not go according to plan...
If you are interested in the taboos and lore, and some of the in-fighting that can occur on such a venture, go across and have a peek.
Thanks for reading.

Read An Ebook Week - ends 12 March
Good grief, where's the month gone? And my memory? I thought I'd blogged about Read An Ebook Week, but obviously not. There again, RaEbookWeek caught me somewhat by surprise as well.
For those interested, all my ebooks on Smashwords are discounted by 50% with the code RAE50 applied at checkout. This mean my short fiction collection Contribution to Mankind and other stories of the Dark is FREE. Deadline is 11.59 PST today.
https://www.smashwords.com/books/view... - a one-stop shop for all formats.
The link opens on Beneath The Shining Mountains as I am still basking in the fact that this historical romance reached No 10 in the USA Kindle > Native American bestseller list on Wednesday. It's dropped back now, but ebooks, unlike print books, have a long-tail sales so it may well rise again as new readers find it for the Kindle.
While I'm chatting I'd like to thank those winners of the pbk Torc of Moonlight who acknowledged receipt. The first review is already up on Goodreads - thanks, Rita - and doubtless the others will follow in time. If you TBR list is anything like mine... my Goodreads to-read shelf hardly makes a dent in what is actually piled by my bed. Hey ho!

#SampleSunday for Valentine's
I joined in with Tweeting #samplesunday when it launched back in December, and over the latter weeks have been serialising the opening chapters of Torc of Moonlight. But I'm getting close to the... er...rock 'n' roll... and as I have an open blog I decided to switch tack.
What better novel to switch to on (almost) Valentine's Day but an historical novel full of romance and adventure?
Beneath The Shining Mountains is set c.1830s on the northern plains in what would become the Wyoming/Montana area and follows a tight-kit community of Apsaroke, their loves, politics and an escalating resentment.
Although it was not available in the USA, it sold 30k copies in paper under a different title, but is now available to a new readership as an all-formats ebook. I'm surprised how well it's doing, as it's not a novel I've been promoting. Perhaps, ironically, that's the key.
The first part of the opening chapter is available on lindaacaster.blogspot.com. Drop by if you have time.

Interview on indiebookblogger today
Torc of Moonlight
After a rather fraught week fighting the UK National Health Service and Social Services for my mother - you can be ill, you can be old, but try not to be ill AND old - this interview on indiebookblogger.blogspot has caught me unawares, but I'm pleased to say that a few people have already dropped by and I've been able to answer queries.
If you have the time and inclination do drop across. Scott Poe is a voracious reader, mainly of Fantasy, and was good enough to give Torc of Moonlight SE an Amazon 4* review.
I'm only his second interviewee, but I know there's a lot more following each Saturday.
I really must ask if he has an illustrious ancestor.

Ebook Giveaway closing soon! (31 Jan)
Just a heads-up to the fast approaching deadline for my e/Book Giveaways.
Via Goodreads I'm giving away five paperback copies of Torc of Moonlight to UK members, while alongside I'm giving away ten ebook copies of Torc of Moonlight: Special Edition to worldwide members (due to the obvious reason that being digital there's no postage involved). All you have to do is Private Message me to have your name slipped into the hat.
Deadline for both is 31 January.
Best of luck!

Interview *and* Spotlight
It's not often that two promotional pieces fall on the same day -- not unless you happen to be very organised with these, and I'm more of a "it's down to luck" sort of writer. But hey, it happens occasionally.
Today I'm being interviewed at The Embraced: Scribal Love on the ideas and the writing behind "Torc of Moonlight".
And across on Karly Kirkpatrick's blog "Torc of Moonlight SE" is being spotlit. We've actually got a decent comment list going on it, so if you have time do hop across to both.
Just a reminder: the Goodreads giveaway is going great guns, with only 10 days to tip your hat into the ring if you live in the UK. There's only five books on offer (sorry about that), but to make up there's ten ebooks available for the worldwide membership. Just drop me a PM to have your name placed in the hat for those.
Enjoy your day. I'm enjoying mine!

#SampleSunday + Giveaway
It's a bright, sunny morning here in my part of Yorkshire, and that means another #SampleSunday on lindaacaster.blogspot.com.
I started offering samples of Torc of Moonlight SE on 19 December, opening, as you do, with the Prologue. The sample is now up to part 2 of Chapter 2. The undertones are darkening and the meshing between the historical and the contemporary is becoming more apparent. Do take a look.
The Goodreads Giveaway of the paperback of Torc of Moonlight to those living in the UK is coming along apace, with 76 people requesting the novel. Many thanks to all who have marked their interest.
Do remember that alongside I am running a giveaway of my own - 10 copies of the ebook to Goodreads members worldwide. Just drop me a PM and I'll add your name to the hat. At the end of the month, when the names are drawn, I'll get in touch privately, and then everyone's Goodreads details will be deleted.
Regards, and have a good day.

Giveaway - Torc of Moonlight / ToM:SE
Just realised that Goodreads has okayed my giveaway for the paperback of 'Torc of Moonlight'. The deadline is the end of the end of January.
There are five copies up for grabs, and the winners will have bundled into the package the print-out of the bonus material from the ebook Special Edition, which includes author interview, research articles and an opening extract of Book 2 in the trilogy 'The Bull At The Gate'. Unfortunately, only Goodreads members living in the UK are eligible, due to postal costs - it's not a thin novel!
However, so that the world-wide membership doesn't miss out, I'll give away ten copies of the ebook 'Torc of Moonlight : Special Edition'. The deadline remains the same, end of January. I'll chose the recipients "out of the hat" not on a first-come-first-chosen basis so that everyone has the same chance.
If you are interested, drop me a Goodreads private message, and remember to state whether you'd prefer e-Pub format (Nook, Sony, I-Pad) or Kindle. All I ask in return is for a review on Goodreads, and on Amazon or wherever you purchase your ebooks. I maintain the right to close the deadline early if I am inundated with requests and can't cope. (I should be so lucky!)
Regards - Linda
