BJMF: Unnatural Creatures--SALE EXTENDED!
People keep popping out of the woodwork, expressing varying flavors of chagrin that they missed the Unnatural Creatures sale. Now, the thing is, my original plan--which was to place the Lulu order right after the sale ended--has gone belly-up, because Lulu didn't ship the proof copy until February 3rd, and with the blood I sweated fighting to format the damn thing, I'm not ordering a hundred or more of them until I've seen what happens to it as it goes from .pdf to book.
Therefore, there's no reason I can't extend the sale except my own inherent dislike of breaking rules, and after all, the more people who buy Unnatural Creatures, the more money I can donate to the Companion Animal Fund.
So here's your chance. The button is live again:
Quantity
1 $20.00
2 $40.00
3 $60.00
4 $80.00
5 $100.00

If you've already donated, as I know some people did, but would also like the chapbook, you don't need to donate again.
In either case, whether you're buying it now or have already made a $20 donation and want the chapbook, please go to the end-of-sale post and follow the instructions to ensure that I keep things straight.

Project Valkyrie: waterlog
50 minutes, 33 laps. 297 miles, 29 laps.
Apparently, no matter how long I live in the Upper Midwest, I will never learn that in the winter, you have to leave time for digging out the car. :P
On the other hand, I was rewarded for going out by a gorgeous purple-blue and deep pink Maxfield Parrish sunset. And when I came out of the gym, the moon was the thinnest possible sliver of gold on the blue-black velvet horizon.

Jay has also posted the pictures he got by asking people to take pictures of what they were doing last Sunday. The aspect ratio got off somehow on mine: El Marmalado is very round at the moment, with his winter coat, but not that round.

Some of the other pictures are, I promise, much better and cooler than mine. And not about cats.
OTOH, if more cats are what you're looking for today, may I recommend this video of five Maine Coon kittens and a cat toy? (Bonus points for musical selection, too.)

5 things, the day after snowmageddon edition
1. 55 minutes, 37 laps; 296 miles, 32 laps
2. Fort Warshauer, a snow fort worthy of Calvin and Hobbes.
3. Cars abandoned on Lake Shore Drive.
4. From the Department of Reality Is Stranger Than Science Fiction: two videos of male seahorses giving birth (scroll down for the second one, which follows the whole process from the initial contractions to the female sidling up to get him pregnant again).
5. Sometimes, even The Goddamned Batman needs a friend.
ETA: I knew there was something else! "After the Dragon" made Locus' Recommended Reading List for 2010!

Ben Jonson Memorial Fundraiser: end of sale post
The Ben Jonson Memorial Fundraiser is now officially over.
This is the belt-and-suspenders post, my way of cross-checking to be sure I don't screw up.
If you bought something in the sale, PLEASE COMMENT. All comments are screened. (And since I can't reply to comments without unscreening them, which defeats the purpose, let me say up here: THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR THE HELP YOU'RE GIVING ME BY COMMENTING.) What I need from you are:
1.) An identifier that will let me match you to the email notification from PayPal (your name, or your email address, or some part of either)
2.) A list of the books you bought
3.) If you want the book(s) personalized, the name to inscribe
And for anyone who hasn't made their payment yet (or who still wants to make a donation), here's the button:

It looks like we've raised around $3,000, which is about three times as much as I was expecting. Thank you all so much for participating.

Ben Jonson Memorial Fundraiser: update
Here's what's left:
2 copies of The Bone Key, $15 ea.
1 copy of A Companion to Wolves (hardback), $25
2 copies of A Companion to Wolves (paperback), $7 ea.
2 copies of The Mirador (hardback), $30 ea.
3 copies of Corambis (hardback), $30 ea.
Please comment on the sale post to purchase.
And you can still buy Unnatural Creatures until midnight.
Also, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has participated so far. I'm lousy at math, but it looks like we'll easily have a $2,000 donation for the Companion Animal Fund by the end of the sale. And that's just EXCELLENT.
