The Naked President
So a bunch of people online told me I needed to find a copy of Brian Bendis and Mike Deodato's DARK AVENGERS #16, the final issue of that Marvel series. So I did. And in the back, in a Bendis-written afterword to the series and the huge chain of Marvel event projects Bendis created and that it concludes, I find this:
I've joked in the past that I redefined the Marvel universe by doing that sequence in THUNDERBOLTS where Norman Osborn gives a seemingly endless eight-page monologue about how he ...

"This recording was made walking counterclockwise around the grounds of Wat Phrathat Hariphunchai, a Thai Buddhist temple built in the late 9th century. The temple is in the city of Lamphun, not too far from Chiang Mai. Its highlights are a giant golden umbrella and a purported relic of...

The Black Blood Of The Earth: Early Results
The Black Blood Of The Earth is the supercoffee distilled by Herr Direktor Funranium, as mentioned here passim. A bottle was recently trafficked to me by covert means — right now, it's only available in the Bay Area, though Herr Direktor is working on that.

Note to self: when blogging my mention of Cat Valente's POD book, Bruce Sterling tags it with "Saw it on Warren Ellis's blog because he seems persistently interested in such things." Reconsider exactly why I'm persistently interested in such things beyond previous statements. Time has passed, after all.

Meltdown Comics are saying on Twitter that ASTONISHING X-MEN: XENOGENESIS #1 has sold out already (presumably at distributor level) and is going to a second printing.
podcastery 12may10
My current capture. Still not great. All good stuff, but I require MOAR more. Becoming kind of amazed at how hard it is to sort the wheat from the chaff, as it were. Also, that bit in shiTunes that finds artwork for these podcasts seems to have broken — podcasts that had art last week do not have art this week.
(I am using iTunes because I have an iPhone, and the only way to buy and sync apps is with iTunes. So I'm using its podcast system for convenience, rather than swapping out for Media...
Astonishing X-Pain
So I was writing ASTONISHING X-MEN. I was writing a serial therein called GHOST BOX. I had also started writing the next serial, XENOGENESIS, so we didn't lose time when GHOST BOX ended. And then there were problems with GHOST BOX, and apparently the only solution was for me to write a short spin-off piece called GHOST BOXES. And then there were problems with XENOGENESIS, and apparently the only solution was for me to write a new serial to temporarily replace it called EXOGENETIC. And...
