Gone Country Sightings
I'm in Auckland at the wonderful Romance Writers of New Zealand's conference and having an amazing time. These women, and this conference, is so unbelievably cool.
Have been getting texts and emails and blog posts about She's Gone Country sightings and thought I'd share this one from my pal Janelle who spotted the book on a Virginia Barnes & Noble shelf. Very cool, Janelle. Thank you!
If your local bookstore doesn't have She's Gone Country in the store on Monday, don't be afraid to ask if...

Country Girl (Shey), Cover Girl (You), Soon to be Back-in-the-USA Girl (Me)
I'm ready to hit the touring road, and am off to charming Auckland, New Zealand, where I will attend their Romance Writers' Conference this week. And next Monday I will be back in the states, getting ready for my book launch party at Books Inc in Palo Alto, CA, and basking in the excitement of She's Gone Country officially hitting stores.
Book releases mean book tours, which means lots of traveling, hard work, and time away from my family. But touring also offers me the chance to visit new...

Oh, Thank You!
Reviews are starting to come in for She's Gone Country… This is like Christmas for me. I really really love this part — both the critical response and hearing from readers, too! One review that just came in is from The Chicago Tribune, crediting my writing with "genuine warmth and quiet grace." Thank you! Another came from The Seattle Times hailing Shey as "vulnerable, yet resilient," and her romance "engaging."
Can you feel me smiling right through your monitor?
It's getting me so excited for ...

She's Gone Country isn't due to be available in stores until August 23, but GREAT NEWS! It's already starting to ship from Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble. I'm sure other online retailers aren't far behind. I'm super excited that you guys are going to be able to read it a little bit earlier than expected!
For those of you who got your ARCs early, I can't wait to read your reviews, and for all your about to have Shey's story in your hands — I look forward to your feedback!

Cowboy Country
I'm slightly mad at the moment, the kind of mad that requires straight jackets, as I juggle mom stuff, the upcoming book tour, and meeting my Sunday deadline for the Harlequin Presents I'm writing.
There honestly aren't enough hours in the day. Compounding the craziness is the fact that a week from tomorrow I leave for Auckland where I'm speaking at the New Zealand Romance Writers annual conference and then heading straight to San Francisco for the launch of SHE'S GONE COUNTRY. I'll be in...

RWA 2010
Back in Honolulu after 6 days in Orlando for the RWA national conference. I had an amazing week–its such an intense, wonderful, complex, mind numbing, exciting, overwhelming experience. You see friends, you meet readers, you talk to your editors and publicists and agent and meet new industry executives. There are book signings and lunches and teas and dinners and receptions and champagne parties. You wake up early and go to sleep long after midnight. You crave coffee and sleep, food and ...

Brothers
Mac is beyond delighted having his two big brothers here in Hawaii with him. He loves his brothers and can't keep away from them. The good thing is that the two bulldogs now have a reprieve. The bad thing is the brothers are Mac's favorite activity.
Fortunately, the boys had a great day on the beach yesterday with Mac eagerly climbing on top of a buried brother Ty. I love having all my boys here. I am one contented Mama.
Off to polish chapter 4 and keep moving on chapter 5. You guys are t...

Making a Scene
I tore apart chapter 3 on my new Harlequin Presents manuscript yesterday after not writing for a week due to guests and life and a quick trip to Seattle for a bookclub visit and lunch with my son Jake on his 15th birthday. I thought chapter 3 was great until I printed it out and read it and then I was like…oh, dear, not so great. The action felt forced. The plot points were waaaay too familiar. The entire chapter was as authentic as synthetic fibers.
I knew I was going to need to tackle...

Surfing Saturday
This is going to be a super short post as I'm getting ready to head to the beach with my friend Anne who is going to take a surf lesson from Ty. I'm going, too, and taking out a big soft top as it's been two years since I last surfed and my confidence is there but I'm not so sure about my skill set. Ty teaches out at Pops in Waikiki and it's a long paddle out. I've had some shoulder problems this last year and I'm worried my shoulder won't be in great form but I'm going for it anyway...

Waikiki Waves
One of my best friends from high school, Anne Morse, just arrived with her family in Hawaii for the next week. They're out sight-seeing today and I'm taking care of family stuff but tonight we all hope to grab dinner in Waikiki together. I haven't gotten any writing done since end of last week which is stressing me but trying to stay calm and positive so that when I do have time to write, I will.
Mac, however, continues to love Hawaii. Last week he paddled around with Dad on a surfboard...
