Fastest disinformer retraction: Watts says Goddard's "Arctic ice increasing by 50000 km2 per year" post is "an example of what not to do when graphing trends" - Plus science blogosphere roundup: "Fred Pearce is a rubbish journalist" and Eric Stieg on PNA

Ironygate:  The king of cherry picking just threw the prince (jester?) of cherry picking under the bus for picking some really, really bad cherries:

WUWT

Thank you Anthony Watts for leaving this nonsense on your blog and acknowledging it as "an example of what not to do when graphing trends, to illustrate that trends are very often slaves to endpoints" — as opposed to 99% of your other posts, which you continue to embrace even though they are also examples of what not to do, such as these recent...

Lindsey Graham: "Ronald Reagan would have a hard time getting elected as a Republican today." - On climate bill, he wants to take back his ball and go home

The incoherent one has a pretty favorable profile in the New York Times Magazine, "Lindsey Graham, This Year's Maverick."

The onetime supporter of bipartisan climate action has some choice words for enviros, says he's not gay, and makes big news dissing the tea party crowd:

"Everything I'm doing now in terms of talking about climate, talking about immigration, talking about Gitmo is completely opposite of where the Tea Party movement's at," Graham said as Cato drove him to the city of...

Ex-Im bank should build jobs through clean energy - Export-Import Bank need not reconsider recent coal decision

[image error]Last week, the U.S. Export-Import Bank announced that they would not provide a loan guarantee to an Indian company that would help them buy $600 million of American-made coal-mining equipment.  The decision was based on the fact that the purchase would lead to massive greenhouse gas emissions, which goes against new Bank policy.

On Wednesday, under pressure from the National Association of Manufacturers and other fossil fuel industry supporters, the Bank agreed to reconsider its decision to...

Is anyone more incoherent than Vinod Khosla?* - *not counting Lindsey Graham or Sarah Palin

Another day, another dreadful opinion piece in the Washington Post.   The print headline easily takes first prize for the most incoherent headline I've ever seen on a climate op-ed:  "Carbon pricing won't achieve emissions goals."

Seriously.  That's the headline, though presumably it came from the incoherent editors of the WashPost, and not the author, the self-identified "founder of the venture capital firm Khosla Ventures, which has interests in several aspects of clean technology...

Energy and Global Warming News for July 2: Scrubbing CO2 from air could be long-term commitment - Ken Caldeira: "If we do someday decide that we need to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere to avoid a climate crisis, we might find ourselves committed

An ounce of prevention is worth a gigaton of cure!

Scrubbing CO2 from Atmosphere Could Be a Long-Term Commitment

With carbon dioxide in the atmosphere approaching alarming levels, even halting emissions altogether may not be enough to avert catastrophic climate change. Could scrubbing carbon dioxide from the air be a viable solution? A new study by scientists at the Carnegie Institution suggests that while removing excess carbon dioxide would cool the planet, complexities of the carbon cycle...
