Longest Three-Day Week EVER

I went to bed at EIGHT last night! I slept until 4, good solid sleep, but still haven't caught up. Traffic duty isn't helping, because it's bloody hot and stressful. I complained about it last year–last year was EASY. Argh! Also, last year only 5 times, this year 7! At least I caught a short week.

Then there's the promo. 5 blogs in 4 days. And the Facebook contest. And the checking of my sales status…I really hope that Novel Rank is just down and I haven't only sold 3 copies!

This weekend, I'm ...

Home, and Hermine

We got home from CA last night after a stressful 14 hour travel day. It had taken 3 hours to get from San Jose to Paso, so we figured the same on the way back, adding an hour for lunch and time to drop off the car, so we left the hotel at 8, went by to say adios to Grandma and Dad and Sue, left her house at 9. Even with stopping at Subway for lunch, we had the car turned in at 12:15, 2 hours and 45 minutes ahead of our flight. We checked in, and waited. And waited. Just before boarding, the a...

SUNRISE OVER TEXAS

It's ironic, really, that my book Sunrise Over Texas releases when I'm watching the sun rise in California :) Please excuse the craziness of this post. No pictures or anything, because I'm oh-my-God tired and need to get some sleep! But I wanted to share my contest with you, and an excerpt from Sunrise!

Okay, the contest is on my Facebook fan page. I have two parts. I'm asking daily questions and picking a winner from the comments. That winner will get a free download of either Sunrise or...

Goals for RELEASE WEEK

Y'all, I want to write really bad, only I need to do these revisions, and to be honest, I don't know which story I want to write, only that I need to get something new started. Ever feel like that?

This doesn't look like the week to do it.

1)      Recover from Family Reunion, and terrible cold!

2)      Guest blog at: Book Junkies, Carina, Nadia Lee, Delilah Devlin and Petticoats and Pistols.

3)      Run Facebook contest.

4)      Finish revisions on Road Signs

5)      Inservice Wednesday

6)     ...

First Review and Feeling Like a Fraud

I found the first review for Sunrise Over Texas last night. Despite my vow to myself to have someone else read it first, I couldn't resist, and it's a good review! Also, good comments. But I emailed Trish and told her I was so nervous about this book coming out, because it will have a higher profile, and I'm certain this time everyone will figure out I'm a fraud. She chided me, but my husband said he knew exactly how I felt. I'm waiting for people to point out that I don't really know what...

Mockingjay and Busy Busy Busy

I finished my goals before work yesterday so came home and finished reading Mockingjay. Y'all. Wow. A lesson in writing between the pages–characters you care about, tension galore, world-building. Just incredible writing. I sobbed the entire last chapter, and I can't stop thinking about it. Even when I woke up this morning, it was the first thing I thought about.

I've got to get an early start this morning. I need to go by the grocery store and pick up some things I forgot, then this...

Goals for the Week of Family Reunion

Went shopping last night with my dh and BOY was that fun. I'm not a shopper to begin with–I like to go in, get what I want and leave. So I was moving pretty fast, because he was tired and his back hurt from mowing his mom's lawn earlier in the day. Honestly, y'all, it was like shopping with a toddler. AND he didn't find anything he liked, so we have to go back today!

On the happy side, I finished painting yesterday. All I need to do is vacuum and put the light switch plates back on and I'm...

My Week

First of all, let me say I really like my class. They're good natured and pretty well-behaved. I have 20. The teacher who moved from 4th to 5th has 30. One of the Pre-K teachers has 31! Y'all, we're packed to the gills! Plus they changed the drop-off/pick-up procedure, so I have to leave here no later than 6:45 to get parking (no more stopping for breakfast) and we're out with the kids until 3:20. LONG day. And it's been pretty hot, so I've been coming home pooped. I think one night I made...
