New Release–FREE Holiday Reads! #tinytreats

A couple of months ago, Trish Milburn approached several authors, including me, with the idea of writing a 1000-word Christmas story to be put in a collection with 2 dozen other writers. She edited them and her husband formatted them and did the cover, and it’s now available at as many places as we could think of, free, as our gift to our readers. My story is a tiny Bluestone story. So, check it out!

Goals the Week of Veteran’s Day

So, Josh has moved out, mostly. There are still some things in his closet and the built-in drawers that need to be dealt with, as well as his computer desk. A charity is coming by tomorrow, and I’d like to send along some of the stuff, but I don’t see that happening.

I lost 11,000 words last week because I hadn’t backed up to an external hard drive (though I thought it was on Dropbox) and that was disheartening. Between that and the emotion of Josh moving out, well, I didn’t get much done last week.

This week:

1) Veteran’s Day Program tomorrow

2) PLC meeting on Wednesday (yawn)

3) cook/exercise

4) Send out newsletter–lots of sales this week! I’ve got a BookBub ad running Thursday on His Dangerous Temptation, then we’re putting Swept Away for Christmas on sale, then we have a collection of short short Christmas stories coming out soon. We’re waiting for that one to filter to all the channels before we announce/before I put out my newsletter.

5) WRITE!!! I pushed back the release of this book to the end of January because I’m just stressing. Sad, too, because I love working on it!

Goals for the Week Josh Moves Out :::SOB:::

Fred came through his surgery WAY better than I expected. He never used the crutches, and only took a couple of the pain pills, mostly at night to sleep. He said there’s pain, but not significantly worse than what he was feeling before.

I sold my tickets to the UT game on Saturday because I know I’ll just be thinking about Josh moving out that day. I expect a lot of tears. So different from him leaving for college. I didn’t see him when he lived here the past 2 1/2 months. I’ll never see him once he moves out.

Right now he’s taking up three rooms–one to sleep, one with his furniture and one with his boxes. So this time next week I’ll have three mostly empty rooms.

Yes, I’m crying already.

So, this week:

1) Practice for Veteran’s Day

2) Get costumes for Veteran’s Day

3) PLC meeting (YAWN)

4) Write? Try my damnedest, anyway.

Goals for the CRAAAAAAAZZZZZYYYYY Week

I think the job of teacher takes a lot out of you, and one of the things is the joy of any holiday, because there always seems to be something super-stressful around any holiday. This week–the carnival. I’m with the coach, who is in charge of the haunted house, which makes the most money from anything at the carnival. He doesn’t want to do it, but he’s asked to do it, even though he does OTHER things that he doesn’t have to do. Anyway. It’s a huge pain and not at all fun.

Add to that, Fred’s been having knee problems since early this year. He’s done steroid shots a couple of times but now is having surgery. On Halloween.

Yeah.

Add to that, it’s still HOT. Like, unseasonably hot. Ugh.

This week:

1) Breakfast duty

2) Boy Scouts

3) PLC

4) Get ready for carnival/carnival

5) Get ready for Fred’s surgery/Fred’s surgery/take care of Fred

6) Write

7) Cook/clean/exercise

8) Enjoy Halloween???

Goals for Another Hopefully Easy Week

Not feeling great so I’m moving slow. Good thing there’s not much going on this week.

1) Work on Boom Town #3

2) Sew

3) PLC meeting. These are honestly the most boring meetings in the history of the world. An hour talking about ONE objective. Zzzzz…

4) Big grocery trip

5) Cook more. I made a menu and will shop accordingly. We’ve been eating out TOO much–bad for calories and the wallet!

Goals for a Hopefully Easy Week

I’m back from a weekend at the coast. Did absolutely nothing but eat and walk on the beach and watch sunrises and sunsets and drink wine on the balcony. I never opened my laptop, or even turned on my Nook. It ended too soon! The nice thing about this time was that Josh was here to take care of the critters. It rained yesterday here at home, so he could make sure everyone was safe and dry.

Tomorrow is an inservice, and Tuesday I’m in the gym with Coach, so I’m only teaching 3 days. Hopefully that will make it an easy week.

1) Finish short story

2) Work on the new Boom Town book

3) Faculty meeting

4) Maybe have to cook–Fred’s back at work Tuesday, so it’s back to me!

5) Exercise. I’m getting my steps most days with my Fitbit, but I’d like to move this along a little faster.

Goals for the Week of Fred’s Other Vacation

Hey, at least I don’t have to cook this week :)

1) Finish short story

2) Write majorly short short story (not sure I can do it. 1200 words? Eek!)

3) Work on 3rd Boom Town book

4) Faculty meeting

So, really, if I can squeeze in writing time, not a bad week! I see some 4 AM wake-ups ahead.

New Release–That Wild Texas Swing (Lost in a Boom Town 2)

It’s here! The second book in my Evansville series, Lost in a Boom Town, is out today! I can hardly believe this is my 25th book!

Liz Salazar has a reputation for being wild, and it’s well-earned. But the women of Evansville, Texas, choose to overlook it since she’s an excellent stylist, with her own shop on the square. But when the handsome young mayor shows interest in Liz, that’s a different story. Suddenly everyone has an opinion, and none of them are positive.

Killian Dawson has always toed the line. He continued his father’s legacy by running for mayor, and is leading the town of Evansville through the changes brought about by the oil boom. His one rebellion is his interest in Liz Salazar. He’s had a crush on her for years, and he’s ready to make his move despite the town’s disapproval.

The reaction of the town is predictable, but the more time he spends with her, the more he knows she’s the one for him. And she is ready to change her ways, but not until after taking him on a wild Texas swing.

This book gave me some fits, but I did love these characters. And I LOVE Evansville. I’m working on book 3 now and, well, I don’t want to leave!

Goals for the Week That Wild Texas Swing Releases

I told Trish the other day that I could not sleep for a week and still not get everything done, between school and writing. We had TWO HOURS on Friday to work at school, and I barely made a dent. This week I’m feeling my way through a new book and doing promo as well, sooooo…..crazy. Let’s not mention that my TiVo is exploding as well. You may notice you’re not seeing me as much on Facebook, lol! Only when I’m really really tired!

So, this week:

1) Work on Two-Step Temptation

2) send out newsletter

3) update back matter in Waltz (I keep putting this off!)

4) Take out some ads for Bluestone when I get my Amazon check

5) guest blog

6) work on short story

7) Professional Learning Community meeting after school on Wednesday. No, I’m not sure what that is.

8) cook maybe? Clean? Exercise? Sew? I was really bad with calories last week, and my scale weighs me at 10 pounds more than the one at school that I used a couple of weeks ago. Oops. I knew the FitBit and the Keurig would be at odds.
