Made a lot of progress on the cardboard ukulele today. Glued, routed, and sanded the body and frame. The material now feels less like cardboard and more like plywood.

Had to backtrack and recut the body of the ukulele. Cutting a single block was just too tough (it was like teak) so I decided to cut separate sheets instead. I also ordered tuners and strings online.

DAY 2: Cut out templates. Using solid cardboard and glued sheets together to make a solid block of cardboard. I wasn’t aware that it would make it so dense and hard to cut. It took me an hour just to pick away at 1/3 of it

I wanted to make something while I was in quarantine kind of like a symbol of something I created while I had all this time kept indoors to remind myself that I made the best of the time I had. I found some cardboard from a past project and I’m gonna make a cardboard ukulele and I’ll document the whole process as I go.
