Follow Up on my Frankfurt experience

This post is a follow up to the one on my Frankfurt experience and is aimed at (self-published) writers and those who nurture them, promote them and have them as clients.

We all know now that you can´t hide from the NSA, nor can you hide from the Internet. You can delete things, amend things, update things, so thinking positively, I feel that there is always the possibility to rectify past errors, improve service provisions, turn things around.

From the point of view of my various motivations f...

Will you tell the Guardian?

Would those who enjoyed my 2012 selfpublished Kindle of The Past Present , that came out from a small UK publisher in 2001 which folded a few years later, care to read to the end of this article and follow suite? I have pasted the form below so that you can see what all this is about.
My other collections came out with Australian publishers, IP (Back Burning) and Raging Aardvark ( Mercury Blobs and AstridL´s Consuming the Muse ). Only a few copies of Back Burning are still  available and I i...

In Fiction. With Love

I can´t seem to concentrate just on writing and am so glad to have my day job to give me structure, as well as the tasks that need doing for the conference next year.
It´s like a roller coaster. A cliche. Ups and downs in my head.
I was delighted to hear that a piece I wrote on Janette Turner Hospital has found a home at Thresholds Short Story Forum, and that a review of her latest story collection, Forecast:Turbulence and that of John Kinsella´s In the Shade of the Shady Tree will be published...

Summertime Blues in the sun

It´s been a while, and no, it hasn´t just been the 40 degree heat we´ve recently had in Vienna. Although I´ve been resisting it for nigh on sixty years, I´m being forced to accept that I have to grow up.
And as a grownup with the benefit of hindsight now, I´m wondering if games haven´t been played all along. I remember a time way back in Geneva when I was told by a boss that my government was interested in getting me into consular service, but that I should not mention my several visits to the...

Happy Flash Fiction Day on 22 June 2013!

Tomorrow is Flash Fiction Day and I'll be celebrating by reading flash from my new collection Mercury Blobs at Shakespeare & Co, Vienna at 5pm.

There'll be celebrations on everywhere and lots of free flashes. I'm thrilled that one of the pieces from Mercury Blobs will be on Flash Flood at 2pm. It's called "Sweet Dreams" and is a bit of loopy fun with maybe a tiny kick.

There are already lots of flash pieces up from all over the world at Flash Mob. So do explore the different regions of the...

Mercury Blobs and the little old lady in my garden

My third collection, Mercury Blobs , is now out in Kindle and paperback formats. And hot on its heels is a kindled collection of erotic tales entitled Consuming the Muse , written by AstridL and illustrated by Sharon Ratheiser.

What do the two books have in common? Both are short story collections. Both are published by Raging Aardvark Publishing, Brisbane, Australia Both were published in 2013.Both have blurbs to die for.The authors both live in Vienna. The covers of both are by Sharon Ra...

I love WOM! or What´s It All About?

Mercury Blobs has arrived at Amazon!

But the exciting thing is that the collection has received a totally unexpected and delightful review, and that review has been popping up all over the place!

This is why I love Word Of Mouth.

One reader connects with what is in my stories. But, not only that, she takes the time to articulate her thoughts in public places, for no other reason than my stories having spoken to her. And there is another gift for me, the writer. Her words about individual storie...

Hippo Bird Day!

I don´t celebrate my birthday anymore. Haven´t done so for a number of years. Just a nice meal at home. Cards from one or two close friends, which is nice. I don´t share the details on Facebook & co. In fact, hubby and I have even always missed our meeting/wedding anniversary – it´s coming, it´s coming. Oh, we missed it again!
Of course, the advantage is that we saved money, but better still, we stopped counting. There´s also a difference of opinion on the actual day we met, and when he mo...
