#Excerpt: NEEDING HER by Allie Everhart

 Excerpt Rachel's POV“Um, Pearce?” I yell out the shower door. “Yes,” I hear him say from the bedroom.“How do you turn the shower on?”“I’ll show you. Can I come in?”“Yeah.”He comes in the bathroom and into the large walk-in shower, keeping his eyes on the tile wall and not my naked body. He puts his hand on one of the levers. “This one turns it on and this one adjusts the water temperature.” He points to one of the knobs. “If you want to adjust the shower heads, just turn this left or right. Each one has three settings.”“Thank you.”He smiles as he looks me up and down. “You’re very welcome.”“Hey.” I swat at him. “You’re not supposed to look.”“You didn’t make that clear when you invited me in here.”“I didn’t invite you. I just asked for your help.”“And I gave it to you.” He leans down and puts his lips to mine for a very slow, very sexy, very deliberate kiss.He’s testing my will power. I’m naked. He’s in a towel. We’re in a shower. And his kiss is burning up my insides.He stops suddenly and steps back out into the bathroom. “Mind if I shave while you’re in there?”“Um, no, go ahead,” I say, stumbling on my words, my brain not fully functioning after that kiss. I start the water and adjust the temperature. Through the glass shower door, I see Pearce lathering up his face with shaving cream.In the mirror, he catches me watching him and smiles, “How’s the shower?”“It’s great.” I turn a little so that all three shower heads are raining down on me. “Actually, it’s pure heaven. So much better than mine. I’d love to have this shower.”“You could if you lived here.”I wipe the water from my eyes and see him running the razor over his face.I decide to humor him. “How much is the rent?”“How much do you pay for your current place?”“Five hundred a month, plus utilities.”“The rent here is only a hundred a month, utilities included.”“Wow. That’s a bargain. But I’d have to drive a half hour to class every day. That’s a lot of gas money.”“Even with gas, it’s still cheaper than your current place.”“That’s true.” I close my eyes as the water runs over my face.“So what do you think?”I hear his voice right in front of me. I open my eyes and there he is. No towel this time. Just him. Freshly shaved and looking completely irresistible.“I need to think about it,” I say, feeling breathless as my heart races in my chest.He stands there, giving me an extremely sexy smile. I can’t take my eyes off him. I try, but I can’t. His body is amazing. I know he works out, but I’d like to know what kind of workout gets results like that. His body is hard. Solid. His muscles chiseled. I’m heating up even more just looking at him.He steps closer, slipping his arm around my waist as he leans down and talks in my ear. “Would you like me to leave?” He trails soft, warm kisses along my neck as the water flows over us.My eyes fall shut again as I shake my head, unable to respond verbally. I’m too focused on how good this feels. How turned on he makes me. How desperate I am for this to continue.I feel his lips over mine as his hand slowly travels down my spine, just like when he gave me that massage last night, only this time there’s no waistband to stop him and his hand keeps going, skimming over my hip and my backside. His other hand moves behind my neck, holding me in place as his kiss goes deeper. My body’s on fire, exploding with sensations, which only intensify when his hand slips between my legs. He shows off his talent in this area once again, and moments later, I’m coming undone, finding it hard to remain standing as waves of pleasure roll through me.His hand returns to my waist, holding me up. “Rachel.”I open my eyes and see him looking at me. “Yes.”“How well do you know me?”I smile. “Well enough.” I’m still recovering from what he did to me, my body ultra sensitive to his touch. Excerpt:Brady put the water jug on the porch and turned to go, but hesitated. Should he wait a little longer to say goodbye for the evening in case she was showering and hadn’t heard him at the door? He shuddered at the image of Rachel taking a shower, lathering her hair, her body…

#Review: DRAGONS OF HEAVEN by Alyc Helms

I was first drawn to this book by the cover especially the dragon overlay. The story follows Missy Masters, a vigilante hero who assumes the guise of Mr. Mystic which was her grandfather's legacy. She roams the city correcting wrongs when she can, but there's more to Missy than her control of Shadows. To truly come into her powers, Missy travels to China, falls in love with her teacher Lung Haung, and becomes embroiled in politics of the nine dragon guardians of creation.
Ms. Helms tells the story in the "now" and "then" to let the reader understand what events have shaped Missy and how because of her very existence, the dragon guardians are warring. I thoroughly enjoyed the "then" chapters. They were steeped in Chinese dragon guardian lore and the story moved along with intrigue and suspense. The "now" China is in trouble and it's up to Missy to walk the minefield that is dragon guardian territory if she has any hopes of saving the world. Will she be able to match wits with creatures older than creation itself? Fans of fantasy will thoroughly enjoy this tale. Highly Recommended.

“I need to go to the shipyard and attend to important business before going to the Solar Intelligence Agency,” clarified Gallant, but even as he said it, he knew it wouldn’t help.

Excerpt:“What do you think, then?” came Judah’s voice, as Blaisey zoned back into their conversation.
Blaisey looked at him and saw him staring back at her. To her astonishment, Blaisey realized that Judah was asking for her opinion. Aside from his rather informal introduction, this was the first time that Judah had addressed her directly. Her surprise must have been evident to him, as Judah’s lips crept into a thin, lopsided smile around the cigarette.
“I knew a man once,” Blaisey said, in a calm, soothing voice. Her father, Nahoy – leader of the Nabawoo, had told her that white people prefer when natives speak in a calm, slow, relaxing tone. He believed that it goaded the white man into a false sense of superiority that their people could use as an advantage.
Blaisey had seen this as slightly sneaky and underhanded, but those were thoughts from before the days of Jackson’s terror, before the days of people falling out of the sky at daybreak and being kidnapped by American soldiers in the middle of the night.
“This man, he rolled and smoked his tobacco, like you,” Blaisey continued.
“Oh, yeah?” Judah asked, the cigarette in his mouth bobbing between his lips as he spoke. “What brand? I’m a Luckys man myself.” He sniffed and lifted his head proudly, his chin held high.
“This I do not know,” Blaisey said, smiling out of politeness. “And we cannot ask him, for he is dead.”
At this, Judah stopped his search for the lighter and looked at Blaisey head on, giving her his full attention for the first time. “From smoking tobacco, right?”
“No,” Blaisey said with vigor. “He was an ass like you, and somebody shot him.”

#Review: ANOTHER WAY TO DIE by Brian Drake

The author has crafted another intriguing story for fans of Steve Dane and his kick-ass girlfriend Nina Talikova. While vacationing in Monaco, Steve and Nina witness the brutal murder of a secret agent. Who knew the agent was in Monaco and what was he after are the questions that Steve and Nina try to figure out. The trail leads them from Monaco to Texas and Florida about the proposed sale of a laser weapon to the Russians. The Russians are no strangers to Steve and Nina and they must pull out every trick in the book to keep that weapon out of Russian hands.
As in the other two Rogue Gentlemen books, Mr. Drake leads the reader on another thrill ride full of twists and turns. Nina has been one of my favorite characters in previous stories, but it's Steve Dane who really shines in this book. The last third of the book kept me on the edge of the seat as Steve tries to outsmart the Russian agents. He uses every trick in his spy book and invents a few more trying to not only stop the weapon from falling into the wrong hands, but trying to survive this mission as well. He's on his own and his life could be forfeit or can Steve pull one last trick out of his spy book? Fans of thrillers will thoroughly enjoy this book as well as the other Rogue Gentlemen books.
