Clarifying the “Rabbits” Reference

My copy of “Rabbits” just arrived. So far, it looks like a fun book.

Also, I’m always impressed when someone successfully writes fiction in the first person. To me, that seems far more challenging than third-person storytelling.

But, since – this week – several friends mentioned page 256 (hardcover edition) and journalists are now asking me about this, I want to respond immediately.

Most of the description on that page of “Rabbits” seems pretty good. And yes, it’s fiction, so I’m not going to ha...

Where are the Mandela Effect books?

Friends and readers have asked why we un-published the Mandela Effect books.

The answer is simple: People with motives similar to the pranksters flooding the Mandela Effect site with DDoS attacks… they found a (admittedly clever) way to discredit my Mandela Effect books.

While I deal with this – which may take another week or two – it was simplest to remove the books from Amazon’s virtual shelves.

So, don’t worry. The books will be back, soon.

The post Where are the Mandela Effect books? appea...

Your Update Messages – Changing

First, HUGE thanks to everyone who replied to my request for help, to understand what makes my websites and books – and me – different in paranormal research.

Next, important news…

Feedburner ceases email updates

If you’d subscribed to receive updates about my latest articles from this website (or Hollow Hill, etc.), those updates were delivered by Google’s Feedburner service.

Effective this week, Feedburner is no longer providing this service. I will send an email to subscribers when I’ve sorte...

A Quick Question…

Social rules are changing and more of us are (finally!) able to get back to ghost hunting.

That’s one reason I want to share more insights with you, and I want to do that well.

But, after 20+ years online and participating in ghost hunting events, I’m not sure what to focus on next, in this community.

So, if I asked you what you feel is unique about what I say and do in the ghost hunting community – what my “superpower” is – what would you say?

I hope you’ll leave a comment, below. (No one will ...

Major Website Changes

Recently, after a security alert, I put most of my websites in Maintenance Mode.

It seemed the simplest solution while we sorted out a few issues… And generally stepped back and compared where we were in 2020, and where we’re going now.

(Hint: 2021 is much cooler. And more fun.)

Today, Hallowfields Ghost Hunting Academy is back online, with some changes, and more in progress.

Why so many changes…?  Well, late in 2020, traffic at that site changed in unexpected ways.

90% of visitors – most of the...

Ghost Hunting in 2021 – Changes, As Usual?

Since the tumultuous start to January (2021), I’ve been watching trends in ghost hunting and paranormal research.

They’re not quite what I’d expected… not that I had a clear idea of what might be next.

Frankly, I think anything is possible in the upcoming months.

The graphs – Ghost hunting v. paranormal research

In February 2021, two online search trends got my attention. The first was ghost hunting. It’s going back up. (My website traffic suggested that, too.) Here’s the trend since 2016:

Where Do You Borrow Free eBooks? – Survey Results

(Results are in.  Changes are imminent, and described later in this article.)

Here’s what I’d explained when we launched this survey:

I’d like my books to reach the widest possible audience.

Recently, I was disappointed to discover that – due to Amazon’s terms for Kindle Unlimited ebooks – public libraries cannot loan those ebooks to their patrons.

In this survey, I’m revisiting my publishing options. I was already uneasy with Amazon insisting on exclusive rights to my ebooks that are in Kindle ...

I’d like my books to reach the widest possible audience.

Recently, I was disappointed to discover that – due to Amazon’s terms for Kindle Unlimited ebooks – public libraries cannot loan those ebooks to their patrons.

So, I’m revisiting my publishing options. I was already uneasy with Amazon insisting on exclusive rights to my ebooks that are in Kindle Unlimited.

If enough readers want to borrow my ebooks through libraries – or purchase those books through other outlets like Kobo, Nook, etc. – I ...

December 2020 – Expect a Shift?

2021 looks like a year for major changes in paranormal research.

I believe that like most everything wed become accustomed to, prior to 2020 a new normal will emerge in ghost hunting, and it may look very different from what weve seen in the past.

Or, we may want to revisit trends that flared briefly in the past. Those include trends from a decade ago, but dont overlook what happened with Spiritualism after World War I. Much of the social upheaval and tragedies of that era bear a...
