The First Review of Pixie Tamer!
This morning I was super excited to wake up to the first published review of Pixie Tamer, the short story prequel to Sanyare: The Last Descendant.
Review: Pixie Tamer – Megan Haskell’s Invitation to a New World
by Eduardo Suastegui
If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I don’t talk much about fantasy. I don’t read it much, and I certainly don’t (can’t!) write it. My entire fantasy literature experience sums up in two titles: Lord of the Rings by Tolkien and Fire and Ice by GRR Martin. In reading Megan Haskell‘s Pixie Tamer, I know I have discovered a new favorite.
Written as a prequel to Haskell’s upcoming Sanyare: The Last Descendant, this story, more than a mere introduction, invites us into a world the author has envisioned for her protagonist, Rie, and her not so cute, but ultimately (well, we’ll see in the full novel, I guess) endearing sidekicks–the pixies. I won’t say much about them except, think barracudas with wings...
To read the rest, head over the Eduardo's website!
Your final free chapter! Sanyare: The Last Descendant, Chapter 5.

"Rie stood outside the door of the Red Chalice, watching the pixies frolic. She took a deep breath, relishing the cool night air. Now that she knew what it was, the coppery stench of blood emanating from the room was obvious. She would not make the same mistake twice."
Well, the time has come...it's your final free chapter from Sanyare: The Last Descendant. I hope you've enjoyed reading these excerpts and will consider making a purchase at the ebook vendor of your choice. You can preorder your ebook copy on Amazon, iBooks, and Kobo. I'll also be publishing to Nook in time for the February 16 launch date.
For those of you who might not own an e-reader, or prefer to read the book in print, never fear. I'm working on putting together the print version now and will hopefully have it available sometime in March.
To stay up to date on all of the happenings in the world of Sanyare and Megan Haskell, I hope you'll subscribe to my newsletter! I'm currently offering all new subscribers a free short story, and that's just the first of many surprises! In the coming weeks and months, I'm planning on releasing deleted scenes, snapshots of the characters, alternate perspectives, and much more. Stay tuned!

Pixie Tamer. A Short Story Prequel to Sanyare: The Last Descendant
I'm not sure how I overlooked this, but somehow I managed to forget to let all you blog subscribers know about my short story!
Pixie TamerA Short Story Prequel to Sanyare: The Last Descendant

It’s Nuriel “Rie” Lhethannien’s twenty-fifth nameday. She should be celebrating her rise to maturity, not sweating in the training hall. But life isn’t fair, and humans aren’t equal to the elves, at least not in the High Court.
After losing a practice bout to the one man she wants to trust, Rie is thrown into the most challenging test of her life. Will the rewards outweigh the risks?
Pixie Tamer is $0.99 on Amazon* and Nook, free on iBooks and Kobo. You can also read it free online by signing up for my newsletter!
*I would love it if you could help me get Pixie Tamer free on Amazon. All you have to do is click on the "tell us about a lower price" link below the product description, and give them a link to either iBooks or Kobo. The more people that report the free price, the sooner Amazon will pay attention and make the book free everywhere!
If you read the story, please don't forget to leave an honest review on the website(s) of your choice. The more reviews, the merrier!

Sanyare: The Last Descendant, Chapter 4...Your Second to Last Free Excerpt

"The sun was setting when Rie entered the city of Nalakadr, the sky lit with an entire spectrum of blues and purples. The moon rose high and full overhead, sending deep shadows dancing in the corners and alleyways. As darkness took hold, lights began to appear beneath archways and bridges, giving the entire cityscape a warm glow that softly moved from light to shadow and back again..."
This is your second to last free chapter! Enjoy, and don't forget to come back next week for the final installment!

Keep the story going...Free Excerpt of Sanyare: The Last Descendant, Chapter 3!

"Rie stood behind her chair in the family dining room, waiting for her wardens. Her eyes traced the family sigil inlaid in the tabletop. After decades of meals taken in this room, she knew each curve of the clematis vine that wrapped the ebony shield, and could tell you exactly how many flowers bloomed in the wood."
Don't forget, each Friday through February 6, I will be posting a chapter from Sanyare: The Last Descendant, giving you five free chapters to sample before you buy the book. Make sure to check back each week!

Free Excerpt! Sanyare: The Last Descendant Chapter 2

"Rie rested in the guest bed of Garamaen’s estate, waiting for sunset to determine her fate..."
In case you missed it, last week I posted chapter 1 of Sanyare: The Last Descendant. Each week through February 6, I will post the next chapter for free, giving you a grand total of five free chapters to read before Sanyare officially launches on February 16!
It's time.
For the first time since beginning work on Sanyare, I really don't want to read the novel again. I'm so close to being done. So close to having it out in the world, but to make sure that everything is correct and the absolute best it can be, I need to read it one more time. Maybe twice. Ugh.
I created the final formatted ebooks, they're ready to be proofed. I'd rather do laundry. That's saying something for a woman who tends to let the laundry pile up in heaps until she's forced to tackle it or never park her car in the garage again.
I think this is typical of authors, though. You've read and re-read and re-re-read your story so many times you can practically recite it by heart. You've edited and tweaked and revised until the final version looks almost nothing like your first draft. You've had other people read and edit, then gone back to fix all the errors they found.
It's a long journey. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
So I guess what I'm saying is, I'm ready to be done. I'll read it one more time. I'll check the formatting on both versions of the ebook. And then I won't read it again for awhile. I love the story. I love Rie. But I think this is about the best this book is going to be. It's time.
For the writers out there, have you reached this point in your work? How did you get those last few steps accomplished?

Cover Reveal & Pre-orders Now Available!
Welcome to my new website! I've spent the last few weeks putting everything together in advance of the New Year and the release of Sanyare: The Last Descendant. I hope you like it!
As you can see, things are moving along nicely! The manuscript came back from my editor with plenty of comments and changes, but nothing that required a delay in publication. Which means that as of this morning...

Sanyare: The Last Descendant

In case you're not a Kindle fan, I've decided not to release the novel exclusively with Amazon, so over the next few weeks I'll be looking into my other publication options, including Barnes & Noble, iBooks, and Kobo.
