Lessons learned from a hatter
Not to mention any names, but someone in our household chewed up another person's cherished fedora. This necessitated my finding someone who could repair puppy-coutured chapeaus.
And this led me to Alex Conley III, former thespian and wizard with his hands. You have to watch this video about his process.

Of course, what he said about hats off the rack not fitting made me think about being a writer. About how we have to start...

Wordy Wednesday

Blessed: that's my word this week as I reflect on the amazing celebration of the launch of The Fences Between Us. Not only did 3rd Place bookseller, Jessica Hurst, rock an amazing red hat, she made sure no detail went unattended, right down to the fishbowl for entries in the drawing for a free book.

It's my age, I suppose, but I can't look out on a SRO crowd of friends and loved ones without getting teary. But I kept it under decent contro...

Ask Winston
Winston is sniffing out the answer to a question recently posed by reader Grier. He will be back next week with answers.
He promises.

Good Friends
I am blessed to have so many good friends from the world round. Recently, I hosted a dear, dear, dear America friend at Shangri-Lar.
My cup runneth over
Wishing you equally cherished moments.

Picasso would be so jealous
Very few artists have had the chance to have a model like Winston. Luckily for Jaime Patneaude (amazingly talented daughter of Dave and Judy Patneaude), she had the rare opportunity to paint this dog beyond compare.

Ten in 2010
Are you up for three more months of this challenge to write a 10-word story? I'm game, if you are!
Perhaps it's trite, but today's theme reflects the season. I say "fall," you may say "autumn." Whichever, see if you can put together the season with 9 additional words to make a story.
FallSaddle shoes clip-clopas I rein in excitement.Second grade!
My saddle shoes were always the tan/brown ones.
I begged for loafers but my feet were too skinny to keep them on.
Now it's your turn!

Note to Self
My darling friend, Sara Easterly, recently posted a YouTube video to her facebook page in which moms were asked what advice they'd have given their new-mom selves.
That got me to thinking: what advice would you give your new-writer self, lo those many (or few. maybe you haven't been at this as long as I have) years ago? I think I would tell myself three things:
It's okay that you don't know everything. Don't write what's "in," write what matters. Because what matters to you will matter to...

Ask Winston

Before I dig in to today's question, I have to say I've sniffed and sniffed around but haven't found any additional questions in my inbox. So, unless some of you inquiring minds out there fetch some up, I'll be retiring my Ask Winston column. Not that I want to cause you to howl, but that will mean that the Two-Legged Writer will be responsible for even more postings and we all know what that will mean. So toss me another question or two!
