The Healing Power of Your Voice: 7 Reasons Why Everyone Should Sing via @cdbaby

[This article was written by Maya Rogers, a singer, composer, educator, and former member of the CD Baby team!] I believe that everyone who is physically capable of making sound with their vocal cords can and should sing everyday. I know what you’re thinking, but just for a moment, I’d like to ask you to […]

The one good thing I did today

I let go. I was flinging and slinging things left and right in an effort to let go. What did I let go of? The need to explain. Couldn’t do it but would have had I had the energy or inclination. It would have taken more out of me to explain than it would take […]

An Open Letter to My Husband on Our 7th Wedding Anniversary

How are you giving, Bigs?!

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.” ~ Matthew 6: 1-2

“There’s no debt to repay”

My friend called (I mentioned her in thisFacebook post) to bring me up to speed about the gentleman who needed shelter. He’s fine but has a ways to go to move on with his life. A couple of really special things emerged from our call that I will share about giving.

Apparently, our gentleman was smitten with her, and wanted to pursue a relationship though he thought himself unworthy. She could have been dishonest or afraid of hurting his feelings, and not set him straight but she set him straig...

Something smells so good

A few weeks ago, I met an older gentleman who smelled like soap. I felt like Hannibal Lectersniffing out Clarice’s soap in Silence of the Lambs. He smelled so good it was embarrassing to follow my nose in his direction. I couldn’t help it. I love the smell of soap. It’s the clean. So I told him he smelled nice and he told me, in turn, that after all of the years he’s been married he still loves the scent of his wife after a bath or shower. It’s the clean.

Yesterday, I was in the grocery store...

The glorious Facebook underground

Last Saturday, I was puttering around on my Facebook news feed and saw an update asking for help and information to assist a disabled, homeless man. The person who wrote the update is amazing and wonderful that way, so it wasn’t a surprise that she posted a call out to help someone.

Immediately, two of us posted information we found online and from our resources. It didn’t stop there and so that I don’t embarrass her or diminish the man’s dignity, the most I will say is that it was handled.

M...

Peaches, strawberries and water from the garden hose

Today was a hot day though not unbearable. I took a light walk to stare at the sun a bit and watch cloud formations. Looking up, I saw a goodness no human being could create or imagine. I thought about how the clouds and sun are not only useful gifts but they are also the reason creation should be appreciated. Creation is goodness to me.

I also thought about being a little kid and my great grandma buying peaches, strawberries and other produce by the bulk to share with her huge family and the...

The one good thing I did today

I can’t think of a better way to begin this blog on goodness than sharing the one good thing I did today.

I rested. I allowed myself the privilege of rest. It has been a stressful week, in fact, it has been stressful and strange. Thankfully, I don’t have any major complaints. The rest I had was based on weeks of a lack of fitful sleep. You can take on almost anything rationally. I’ve been on the verge of irrationality, so sleeping well and resting meant the world to me.

One thing that has alw...
