Au-Tum-Num and theLeaves are Falling

vine2It’s Autumn or Fall as the Americans call it and the leaves are falling. It’s my favourite time of year. Days can be sunny but not too hot and mornings and evenings are crisp.

Clothes wise, it’s layer weather…lots of layers you strip on and off throughout the day.

leadlightleaves

When we lived in the U.S, I adopted the habit of seasonal decorations. One of the guys my husband worked with was a lead-lighter and he made me these great leaves which I’ve put up in the lounge room. Outside, we have an autumn decorative flag up. I tell you, I’m in the autumn spirit!tions.

We’ve filled the garden with compost, putting it to bed for the winter and hopefully we will get a fabulous showing of spring roses in October.

So I will enjoy the splash of autumn colour because within a month or so we will be into my least favourite season for the garden…the winter blah! I eagerly await the snowdrops which give the only colour.

Saved By The Bride Tasty Teaser No. 3

Annika is finding living with Finn rather dangerous!

Her own embarrassment

“Saved by the Bride, the first book in Fiona Lowe’s Wedding Fever series, is a delicious romantic comedy that combines laugh-out-loud physical comedy, sigh-worthy love scenes, and enough heartbreak to keep it real. I liked not only Annika and Finn but also Finn’s sister who is headed toward Bridezilla status in her quest to see that a perfect wedding protects her and her endearing beta finance from the sad ending that her parents experienced. Frothier than Lowe’s Rita-winning Boomerang Bride, this book has the same charm. Tobin and Whitetail have more in common than their Wisconsin address and the wedding business. Give this one a try. I think you’ll be glad you did.”   JUST JANGA

Release Day for Saved By The Bride

FacebookSBTB3

Down here in southern Australia, today is the first day I have felt a real nip in the air. I guess that means autumn is really here. The trees in my garden are starting to turn and the final blooms of the roses are fading fast. I’ve harvested all the basil and have a freezer full of pesto to get us through the cooler months. YUM!

Today is the release of my latest single title contemporary romance, Saved By The Bride

SAVEDBYTHEBRIDEIf you enjoyed Boomerang Bride, I’m sure you’ll enjoy , Saved By The Bride  It’s the first book in my Wedding Fever Trilogy and it will be followed by Picture Perfect Wedding in August and then Runaway Groom in January 2014.

Reviews are coming in.

“Fiona Lowe has created a couple and a town, that you just can’t help but cheer for.”

Combined with Ms. Lowe’s hallmark sense of humor it makes for a great read. ” GoodReads Review

I laughed my way through the story. The humor was nicely balanced with a theme of forgiveness, acceptance, and the importance of family” Amazon Review.

So what is Saved By The Bride about?

Welcome to Whitetail, Wisconsin, future home of Weddings that WOW!

As acting mayor, Annika will do anything to revive the economy of the town that’s been her refuge ever since her art career imploded and her fiancé walked out. Even if it means crashing an engagement party to talk business with the bride’s billionaire father. But the evening starts with a kiss from a gorgeous stranger—and ends with a night in jail.

Finn Callahan can’t believe his sister is getting married, not after their parents’ disastrous track record. And he’d rather be anywhere than working from his family’s vacation home. Until he catches a leggy blonde sneaking in the window, and suddenly telecommuting for the season is very appealing.

Unable to resist their mutual attraction, Annika and Finn are soon mixing business and pleasure—just for the summer. Too bad Annika’s heart missed the memo about not falling in love…

Book one of Wedding Fever. 99,000 words.

Saved By the Bride is available from Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Carina Press, Kobo  iBooks, and all other eBook retailers for the bargain price of $2.99. that’s less than a cup of coffee folks, and it lasts a lot longer :-)

And to get you into the Whitetail mood, check out the book trailer!

The State Library, Melbourne Australia

photo3

Last week on my trip to Melbourne, we popped into the State Library.

Oh, I can’t tell you the joy this place brings me! Back in 1854, when the library was conceived, the vision was that it would be the ‘the people’s university’ a place where the world’s knowledge and information would be freely available to all citizens of the growing colony of Victoria, regardless of their social status or financial resources.

photo8
This is still happening today. Late on a public holiday afternoon, the library was buzzing with uni students, school students, older people, in fact, every generation was there except the under 10s. Today, you can sit at an internet-connected computer in the library and part of the world wide web or you use the books and access everything from novels to research tomes. And photos! They have a huge photographic collection.

This defining concept has guided the Library through 157 years. I’ve got some photos below to share two of many gorgeous reading rooms. Do you have a favourite library?

A Four Day Holiday

Down here in Australia, Easter is a four-day holiday. Lots of people head off on a holiday/vacation and for the last two years, that is what we’ve done but this year we stayed home..sort of!

On Good Friday we drove 90 minutes to my brother-in-law’s house for a family gathering which was great and on Sunday, I hosted the other side of our extended family  Where was the sunshine and warm weather when I needed it? After weeks of heat, it vanished and rain came instead making a BBQ and an outside gathering impossible. Suddenly, I sat 14 down to lunch. Thank goodness Boy Wonder was home as he is a whizz at moving furniture and setting tables!

On Easter Monday we schlepped up the road to Melbourne to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. We took the boys to the Khan Mongolian restaurant which has been there forever and they watched their meal cooked before their eyes and then we saw Ian D Montfort, Britain’s comedic spirit medium. He was hysterically funny and spookily accurate  Here is a taste where he totally flummoxes a Channel 10 news reporter.

Yesterday, Boy Wonder had his wisdom teeth out and today The Lad heads back to Tassie for lectures tomorrow and I have to head back to Runaway Groom!

What did you get up to over Easter?

Pinterest!

Last year in the USA, I was introduced to Pinterest. I was a little hesitant not because I didn’t think it was a great idea, but because of copyright issues.  However, I was assured by Harlequin’s Legal team that if I pinned a picture directly from a website I wasn’t breaking the law. Of course, I can also use my own photos.

I started quietly back in October of last year where, instead of making a collage of characters, I did a board for my Gold Coast City Hospital medical romance. I’ve just created boards for the three novels in my Wedding Fever trilogy.  There’s Saved By The Bride, Picture Perfect Wedding and Runaway Groom

I’ve also had fun looking at favourite author’s boards such as Shannon Stacey’s The Kowalski Stuff of Doom.  There are also boards on everything from architecture to zoos. Part of me dares not even open the treasure trove that is Pinterest as I may never resurface into real life.

What sort of stuff do you enjoy looking at on Pinterest?
