Senior missionaries needed!

The Church can always use more missionaries, and, in particular, more senior missionaries.   I received a note a few hours ago from friends currently presiding over a foreign mission, in which they mentioned their urgent need for a senior office couple.  They need several couples, but an office couple is needed in December. “There is something all can give”

When I was a very small child in Junior Sunday School, I sang the song.  Many times.  But I didn’t get it.   Finally, though, I’m beginning to understand the principle.   I spent a couple of hours this morning, with my wife, meeting with someone who has been volunteering his services to [Read More...]

Romney Rising?

There continues to be talk about another possible Mitt Romney run for the presidency.   If I had to bet right now, I would predict that he won’t run again, though I wish he would.   But several recent surveys have shown that, if the presidential election were to be held today, Mr. Romney would [Read More...]

Have I mentioned that I despise one of the great heroes of the world’s oppressed and downtrodden?

I was strongly rebuked earlier today for my conspicuous failure to show sufficient reverence for the late physician, statesman, reformer, and humanitarian Dr. Ernesto “Che” Guevara.     So I would like to reiterate, as clearly as possible, my contempt for the man.  He was a sociopathic murderer, and I would [Read More...]

“How Gaza’s Christians view the Hamas-Israeli conflict”

The former pastor of the Gaza Baptist Church, an Arab with a doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, offers a perspective that many out there will never have even imagined to exist:   http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2...

Unfortunately, she didn’t quite live to see the Millennium

Irena Sendler died in 2008.   In 2009, Barack Obama, still less than a year after he had inaugurated the era of universal harmony that we now enjoy, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for not being George W. Bush.

“Beau Jest”

Just back from a performance of Beau Jest at the Hale Center Theater in Orem.   Part of the play is built around a Passover seder, which we enjoyed because we’ve conducted a fair number of such seders and are therefore familiar with the prayers and the songs and the various ritual acts involved.
