Can I? Let’s see….

2: summarize your current project3: summarize your current project poorly

Hmmm… Whoever came up with these was either sneaky sneaky or a genius. Or both.

Current WIP summary (what it’s supposed to be)

In other words (or in actual words) a new Robin Hood story. Evil Sheriffs, girl dressed as boy, dark secrets. Oh, and a girl assassin (said girl dressed as boy). Cool stuff.

And now for what it currently feels like

which is part of what I want it to be, but not quite :)

Also, it mostly feels like this

So there

notes on creativity as a cycle between active production + dormant recovery. let your brain rest!

the best infographic I’ve ever seen on the issue. how come it doesn’t have a gazillion reblogs, it’s so important!

Hey, could someone caption this? I hate it when information I really want to have is in an infographic where I can’t see it with my screen-reader. :(

Image caption:

Creators feel pressure to spend every second creating, but creativity is a cycle between active productivity and dormant recovery.

[image: a figure eight cycle, left hand is red, right hand is blue, middle is grayed out]

[left column beside cycle, in red]: Action - output, execute ideas, high energy production

[middle grayed out part label]: middle ground for sketching and experimenting

[left column beside cycle, in blue]: Recovery - input (research, read/watch/play stuff), let your brain rest, generate ideas

Recognize when you have creative energy and use that momentum to make stuff.

Let yourself have do nothing days.Your brain needs rest - input and no output. Recharge!

[image: sideways figure eight with small bit on left in red, the rest in blue] Burnout requires longer recovery period

[image: sideways figure eight with most in red, right side in a little bit of blue] Momentum can carry you through a period of super creativity. Make everything
