Es un gran ajedrecista, informático y escritor de libros y artículos sobre el ajedrez. Ha sido ocho veces campeón de España y se le ha reconocido con el título de Gran Maestro Internacional. En 1999 fundó en Barcelona la Escuela de Ajedrez EDAMI, con actividades dirigidas a la enseñanza, promoción y desarrollo del ajedrez, en particular desde los colegios. En RBA ha publicado también Aperturas de ajedrez, Estrategia en el ajedrez y Táctica en el ajedrez, este último junto a otros autores.
