Old Dog

 

Thunder rollsthrough the darkening air.

The old dogquickly slips under my desk,

Her teeth chatterwith long ago memories

Of the chaos ofher early life before we found her.

She stays curledup for the duration of the storm,

And I stroke herhead to remind her she is home.
