Did You Know
Did you know, Amelia Earhart and Eleanor Roosevelt were good friends and once ditched a Washington party to take a joyride/flight to Baltimore and back?

July/August Reviews in noparticular order
*Disclaimer. If I run into an occasional typo, I ignore them and don't factorthem into my review.

Inher usual poetic style— “A crimson fire snapped in the hearth, the room overlywarm, air thick despite a blustery rain tapping insistent fingers on thewindowpanes.”—Ms. Peach has created another page-turning fantasy about a youngman who blames the death of his wife on his father and brother.
Asalways, the world building is exemplary and the characters are folks we’d liketo get to know.
Intriguedby the title? That’s exactly what this tale is based on. Folks that swallowsouls to gain knowledge or fighting skills or altogether different abilities. Butbeware, swallowing too many souls can make the swallower go mad.
SOULSWALLOWERS is the first of a duology. I’m a D. Wallace Peach follower anddefinitely looking forward to the second read.

Razewants nothing but peace for him and his, but political intrigue, power andgreed interfere. To fight for those he cares about he must swallow anothersoul.
Inthis story, the author has built a world the reader can step into and characterswe either love or hate. Ms. Peach has created the ultimate villain in Benjmur.Except for the love he has for his daughter, the man is pure evil.
Asalways, the author’s words swirl with description. “Oarsmen fought the chop, and plumes of silver spray joined with the morning fog, swallowing the vesselin a cloud of wetness.”
Tensionbuilds till the end at which point the author wraps the story up nicely with alarge red bow.

TRADS

Thisis the tenth book in the Jesse Stone series. I didn’t know what to expectbecause this is a different author. But Brandman did a great job. Jesse’scharacter and Dix’s remained the same. Molly’s changed a little. A bit more ofthe TV version’s character. In the TV series, Stone nearly always has a dog, which hasn’t appeared yet in the books. Though Mildred Memory the cat—who Ihaven’t seen on the television series—makes an appearance and is a welcomeaddition. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. On to number eleven.

FOOLME TWICE by Michael Brandman
This series just keepsgetting better and better.
Michael Brandman has done an excellent jobtaking over for Robert Parker.
DAMNED IF YOU DO byMichael Brandman
Iloved Brandman's take on Jesse Stone (and the introduction of Mildred Memory, which took place in book #10). This story was no exception. Damned if You Do isthe last book Brandman writes and it's the last of the series I'm reading.
Istarted the next of the series, with a new author, but it just didn't click forme, so I stopped reading. Plus, he tookMildred Memory out of the book and that didn't work for me either.
Read any good books lately?

Ketch-up Day

Happy August 1st. How is your week going?
I'm all for moving this summer along It's still dry and hot here. This is one of our crepe myrtles during a more normal summer. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like that this year. What's it like in your area?

On the other hand, the potatoes in the mulch pile are thriving. It's always interesting to see what will pop up:)

Ketch-Up Day

OMG. Frank loathes going to the vet. Actually the word loath is too tepid. But he had to get his teeth cleaned so I packed him up and away he went. While there, I asked them to go ahead and groom him. After grooming, they turned the fan on him to dry him. He backed his hinnie to the fan, peed into it and sprayed them all.

The swallowtails are still flitting around.
