The awesome co-hosts for the November 1 posting of the IWSG are PJ Colando, Jean Davis, Lisa Buie Collard, and Diedre Knight!

Every month, we announce a question that members can answer in their IWSG post. These questions may prompt you to share advice, insight, a personal experience or story. Include your answer to the question in your IWSG post or let it inspire your post if you are struggling with something to say.

Remember, the question is optional!
November 1 question: November is National Novel Writing Month. Have you ever participated? If not, why not?

I think NaNoWriMo is a wonderful idea. I love it. But have I actually participated? No. Though friends and I have challenged each other informally.  I have a word count I strive to reach daily and that works for me. I don't see that changing even if I joined.

THE GIFT byGwen Plano

Shelly issixteen, pregnant and disowned. Completely alone, she and her baby are taken inby kind strangers.

The Gift isa lovely story of hope, love and kindness. It snagged my interest at page oneand held it till the end. Recommended for those that love a good HEA. Anexcellent second story in the Harbor Pointe Series.

SECONDCHANCE ROMANCE by Jill Weatherholt

Big citymeets small town. Big city gal, Melanie Harper goes to the small town of SweetGum with the expressed intention of moving her aging aunt to the city.  Until that is, she meets her aunt’s businesspartner Jason Daughtry and his captivating daughter.

This is thefirst time I’ve read anything by Ms. Weatherholt and found it both entertainingand well-written. She did a wonderful job of world building and creating ahomey small-town environment that has the reader stepping right into the storyand  sauntering down the street. Thecharacters were also finely-crafted and easy to relate to. One of the centralcharacters: a little girl that tugs at the heart strings. So, grab your cocoaand cookies and kick back with this warm-hearted story.

Recommendedfor readers of Christian Romance.

Available at Amazon

TRADS

RED RISING,GOLDEN SON, MORNING STAR AND IRON GOLD by Pierce Brown

This is myfirst dive into Mr. Brown’s books and what an adventure it was. This is one ofthose series that you can’t put down, that keeps you reading late into thenight.

These booksare science fiction about a caste system in space that a young man is trying tobreak through after his wife is hanged for a tiny infraction. It’s violent. Ittakes Hunger Games and ratchets it up several levels. Whatever can go wrongdoes and I’m not sure if the protagonist will make it to the conclusion of theseries. I stopped half way through Iron Gold. I needed a break. I got boggeddown in conflicts and setbacks. Then went back to it,  finished it and started on DARK AGE the nextin the series😊

1STTO DIE by James Patterson

This is thefirst book in the Women’s Murder Club.

Four professionalwomen, that include an assistant DA, a coroner, a reporter and a homicideinspector join forces to solve a murder.

Since theauthor is James Patterson it’s a given that it’s well written. The characters arerelatable, the settings and surroundings are exceptional, there is lots oftension and suspense to keep the reader turning pages. The down side, the crimes and thevillain/s got just a little too twisted for me.

THE LONGMIRE DEFENSE by Craig Johnson

Walt findshimself on a cold case that people in power don’t want reopened.

I loved theNetflix Longmire series, so I was anxious to read this book.  Having watched the series I already had anaffinity for the characters and even though we started with the last book Ididn’t feel like we missed anything.  I’mimpressed with Craig Johnson’s writing. Great characters, world building andplot. Now we’re starting back at the beginning and reading Cold Dish😊

Highlyrecommended.

It's Tuesday, Ketch-up Day

What's been going on in your neck of the woods?

Here's my big excitement and no it's not a new mode of transportation. Hehe. Though, it looks like Frank is thinking about trying it out;)

Some of you gardeners might recognize it.  I admit I wouldn't have before I purchased it. It's a garden broom.

Do any of the rest of you have to deal with leaves in your rocks when fall hits?  It's right up there, or maybe I should say down there, with weeding.  How in the heck do you get them out? The only other option I'm aware of is blowing and a) I don't like hauling a blower around, b) Blowers tend to scatter the rocks.

This is a picture of before and we haven't even had a good fall yet.  You can wade through them once they really get falling.

This was after sweeping.

And this is me:

😄

Yup, the hits don't stop at our house. What wild and crazy things are you up to?

Ever heard of Bass Reeves? He was a little known Western hero that I'm posting about at Cowboy Kisses.  If you're in the vicinity and would like to know more, please stop by and say hey.

It's Tuesday, Ketchup Day

How was your weekend and start to your week?

The HH is having back surgery in December. So this weekend we took the first step towards laying in supplies. We went into the foothills and got a case of wine. 😂

Here's a few, and I emphasize few, pics from the winery.

There's a rosebush planted at the beginning of each row of  grapes.

This is a chandelier in the center of the gift/wine shop. It was quite pretty.

The leaves are starting to turn.

Last year I got cherry tomatoes from the mulch pile. This year taters;)

AND

The HH got me the most excellent gift. A wearable heating pad for neck, shoulders and back. I feel like a viking warrior in it:)

AND

From Colorado

Thank you, Julie.
