I'd find myself thinking, After those books and movies you are only worth that? Then of course I seriously had to head-slap myself.
Some of those folks weren't exactly who I expected to find on the top fifty authors list.

Ready or Not It's Monday

The hh and the boy were going to go to the Illinois-North Carolina game, but the boy got sick. It may have been just as well that they weren't there since they would have had to do the walk of shame. NC trounced the Fighting Illini.
The hh and I went to see A Walk In The Woods. I enjoyed it. Redford and Nolte were great, especially Nolte. There were a lot of funny moments. I went into it, expecting to love it. I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it. Have you seen it? What did you think?
Later we watched Gone Girl. Oh my. If you haven't seen it, just let me say its not for the faint of heart. The plot has plenty of twists and turns, but it was more than I bargained for in several areas. Have you seen it? What did you think?

Amazon BN Kobo Kensington Excerpt:
I blotted my Petal Pink lips on a piece of memo paper and capped the lipstick. “Dangit!”Trying to retrieve the tube with the tip of my open-toe heel, I only succeeded in pushing the lipstick farther away. “Ugh.”Unable to bend that far in my pencil skirt, I hiked the hem up to my thighs and crawled on all fours, shimmying my behind, then stretching my arm till my fingers finally gripped my favorite lipstick. That’s when I heard a low, masculine whistle from someone standing behind me.Scooting back, I shot off the floor and slid my hemline back to my knee, all under the steady gaze of Paxon Nightwing, silhouetted by the sunlight that filtered into the foyer of Linden d Burke.Towering above me with jet-black hair and matching sharp-edged wings, wearing a charcoal button-down, black slacks, and a devilish smile, his voice crooned when he spoke. “Now that’s what I call a warm welcome.”“I, um, well, I…”He extended a bronzed hand. I reached out with my right, nearly dropping the lipstick again. I shifted it to my left hand. “I like pink.”I like pink? I like pink! For God’s sake, Ella. How old was I? Five? His extended hand engulfed mine, then he drew our bodies closer. Grinning wide and stroking his thumb across my knuckles, his melodious voice sounded sultry and sinful.“So do I.”I blinked stupidly till my brain started functioning again. He didn’t say a word, mesmerizing me with ridiculously deep brown eyes.“I’m, uh, Ella Barrow.”“Paxon Nightwing. Pleasure to meet you. But I think we’ve met before.”I tugged on my hand. He didn’t let go, tightening his hold.“Uh, well, I’m friends with Sorcha and Jessen.”“Yes.”I knew this guy was a player, the kind to make a girl swoon with a glance and charm the pants right off her. Literally. Jessen had even kissed him in a club once. And while his carousing behavior should make me want to run away, I couldn’t forget that Jessen had said on a scale of one to ten, his kiss was a ninety-nine.He still held my hand, angling his body closer. “I’ve also seen you at the Vaengar games. With Kerrington.”“Yeah. We’re, um, dating.”“That’s a shame.”

Wacky Wednesday: One Day More
Have you seen this? I try not to run trailers two days in a row, but this one was too good to pass up. If any of you have sat through a faculty/staff assembly you can probably relate with the glazed look on many faces at the beginning of the trailer.

I'm Back......
So did everyone behave while I was gone? And if not, did you have fun?
We had a great time. It was wonderful to see a large chunk of the family again.
We drove from NC to IL. On our way we stopped in Asheville and ate at the Wayside. It's a historic train depot that's been converted into a restaurant. Good food, fun spot. As soon as we left Asheville we hit a traffic jam. One lane semis, one lane cars going about twenty to thirty miles an hour, bumper to bumper from Asheville to the Tennessee border. I've never seen so many semis in my life. Once we hit Tennessee it backed off. Thank goodness.
We ended up having dinner with my brother and sis-in-law. It was totally unplanned. They were heading for the wedding too.I got a text from my sis-in-law saying they were at Shoney's off exit 317. Guess where we were? Yup, right at 317, when I was reading the text. Very woo woo. But that's how our family rolls;)
The wedding took place at The Farm. The Farm is a spot outside of Springfield that's rented out for weddings and events. It has a garden, gift shop and a loft, which we spent one night in. It was nice. Since it was a second wedding for both the bride and groom, everything was casual, with a family atmosphere.
From there we stopped in southern Illinois to stay with my aunt and uncle. We always go to Harrah's--it's tradition--eat at their wonderful buffet, hit the slots, then go home and play Yahtzee. Anyone out there play Yahtzee? My aunt and I were Yahtzeeing like crazy. It's been years since I've Yahtzeed several times in a row. The uncle and hubby...not so much. The women ruled:)
Next morning, we headed home. I was surprised. We were traveling Labor Day and the traffic wasn't that bad. Once again, we stopped in Asheville. Wayside was closed so we tried Zoe's Kitchen. Loved it. The food was great, especially their chocolate cake. Oops, shouldn't have admitted I indulged. Yes, my excuse was the time honored--'we're on vacation'.
Finally, got back home. We'd had to board the dog and Faux Paw, so she could continue her eye drops for the glaucoma. A bud came in to take care of Captain Stubby and Belle. (Bless you, Becca.)
The boarding charges cost more than the trip. Yikes! But enough about my weekend, what have you been up to? Missed y'all.

Blurb Sexy. Passionate. Fierce. Irish rugby star, Padraig O’Neale, has fecked up his life and is one angry man. When caught using a banned substance for his back pain, Padraig is excused from both his provincial club and the Irish International team. Right before World Cup selection. Out of choices, his agent convinces Padraig to play for a small American club in Michigan. Just until things settle down. But when Coach asks the team physical therapist, Gillian Sommersby, to help the newest Blues player with his issues, Padraig finds himself trying every wacky treatment out there from stinky salves to music to yoga. Like her therapies, the therapist herself is a bit…odd. The cute college grad in Converse and glasses doesn’t seem all that impressed with Padraig’s celebrity status, nor gives a shite about his excuses. As it turns out, she might be exactly what he needs…Excerpt She hadn’t heard Padraig approach, so when he sat down next to her on the top step, she jerked up to sitting, her hand stilling a heart that wanted to make a break out of the gates. He wore his tracksuit pants and a T-shirt with bare feet and rumpled hair. “Are you okay?”She brushed her face with the corner of the quilt. “Ah yeah, just couldn’t sleep. I didn’t mean to wake you.”“You didn’t. I haven’t been sleeping well the last few nights, anyway.”Their seclusion here in the woods, the surrounding darkness as black as ink, gave Gillian the courage to ask, “We’re probably not at the right time for each other, are we?”“Honestly, I’m not sure, but you’ve done more for me in the time I’ve been here than anyone has in my life.”“All that means is I’m a super-sap.”He chuckled. “You’re one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met.”“Oh shit, this sounds like the beginning of the talk.”“What talk is that?”“Don’t. You know what I mean.”“You told me once you don’t like head games and I’m telling you honestly. You are better than any other woman I’ve met, and there have been loads.”“That makes me feel a heap better. So it’s not just sex?”“Fantastic sex.”“Yes, fantastic sex, but you’re, you’re…a testosterone turd.”“Wait a tick, that sounds naff.”“It does, doesn’t it? Sorry, it’s what I used to call my brother and his friends.”“I don’t get that about Americans. You guys categorize everything, put everyone in little boxes with labels, compartmentalize. We don’t really do that in Ireland. And Jaysus, we’re adults. Too old for that shite.”“You’re so right.”“And you’re just you, Gill, sexy as fuck, funny, smart. All the Blues think you’re class. You could have picked any of ’em. Why me? It’s not like I was much of a gentleman a few weeks ago.”“It was the accent.”“Thanks for being honest.”She laughed, but it died at her next thought. “When are you leaving?”“Honestly, I don’t know. I haven’t heard anything from my agent, and I haven’t a clue what else to do.”“You could stay here.”He turned, and even though the darkness cloaked his eyes, she had penetrated where she’d wanted the thought to go.“I could.”She had nothing further to say so she laid her head on his shoulder. “Are you cold? I’d offer to share, but I’m naked as a jaybird underneath.”He wrapped his right arm around her and drew her close, both of them shuffling together in an awkward moment. “Nah, this is just a summer day in Ireland.”“Do you miss it?”“Not right now.”“What about tomorrow?”“Will you be here?”She smiled, scuffing her foot across the worn step, pushing flecks of old paint over the edge. “I will.”“Then I won’t miss it.”His words warmed her through, and she bit her lip in happiness. She didn’t know what to say in return, so asked, “How are you feeling?”He nodded, taking a small stone from the step and chucking it into the woods. “Anxious. Tense. I want the meds.”“You will for a while, I hear. You might crave it for days, even months from now.”“Will you be here?”She wanted to laugh, but couldn’t. “I will.”He kissed her on the head. “Hey, you’re not such a bad trumpet player.”She laughed then. “Thanks.”
