IWSG Wednesday

The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Groupday. Members post about their  doubts and fears, discuss struggles and triumphs, and offer words of encouragement to others who are struggling.   AUGUST 3RD QUESTION: What was your very first piece of writing as an aspiring writer? Where is it now? Collecting dust or has it been published? My first story was The Agent and Mrs. Springer and....it's collecting dust. Now my question for you authors: Were your sales down in July? Historically, it seems most authors' sales drop.  Hope yours held.
I'm going to go in a different direction today. I'd like to recommend a movie that deals with motivation and tenacity.  Something that as writers we need two hundred and twenty percent of. Do you ever find your mood revolves around your sales or lack thereof?  Been there.  Done that. And how stupid is that.  There is so much more to life than book sales. But anyhow, my point being, writing is a huge struggle on so many fronts and it's easy to drop off the grid because of feeling beaten down or one too many challenges. Every book today is up against millions of others.  Rather daunting, hey?  Sometimes it's hard to remember that people other than authors, in all walks of life, have challenges just as daunting, nearly unattainable goals, that they are determined to reach and refuse to give up until they do.Eddie The Eagle is about just such a young man, that fought on no matter the odds, no matter the obstacles in his way.  If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.  Not only is it a feel good movie, it's highly motivation.  Fight On.

Right of Way

When I first laid our walkway the critters wouldn't use it.  Now they won't get off it.   There's usually a lineup when I'm on it: the cats, the dog, and me.   Unfortunately, there's no passing zone. We need another lane.

Happy Weekend

~*~AND.....Shameless Self-Promotion Our love affair with stones is deep and long abiding. During the renaissance an amethyst was commonly engraved with a bear and worn as a protective amulet. Bloodstone was used in the distant past by Egyptians to break bonds and crumble stone walls. Power Stones gives  information and background on how these amazing minerals are used today.

Star Trek Beyond

Don't you love this series? We saw it Sunday.  I enjoyed it, but not quite as much as the first two. Have you seen it yet?
Oh, and for a little bit of trivia...Do remember Chris Pine's dad Robert Pine? He starred in CHIPs as Sgt. Joseph Getraer.

Cover Release of BOUND

Bound  (The Cities Below, #2) Jen Colly
Published by: Lyrical Press
Publication date: January 31st 2017
Genres: Paranormal, Romance
The streets are a battleground for humans, vampires, and demons alike—where survival is a skill, love is a weapon, and the most dangerous act is to care for another . . .
Keir is an assassin devoted to Lady Arianne, the last of her royal bloodline. He is sworn to protect her, and that means eliminating any threat to her life. But while on a mission, he is set upon by a pack of demons, barely escaping with his life.
Cleopatra lives by a set of rules so rigid she no longer knows her true self. But her kind and loving nature resurfaces when she finds a man, bloodied and dying. Moved to help him, she risks her future and her life to save a stranger far below her aristocratic station.
Their attraction to each other is as powerful as it is forbidden. But even as their love grows, Keir keeps his true identity a secret—and this lie is not the only threat to their love . . . or their lives.

The Author:
Jen Colly is the rare case of an author who rebelled against reading assignments throughout her school years. Now she prefers reading books in a series, which has led her to writing her first paranormal romance series: The Cities Below. She will write about anything that catches her fancy, though truth be told, her weaknesses are pirates and vampires.

She lives in Ohio with her supportive husband, two kids, one big fluffy dog, and four rescued cats.

Project Complete

When we moved into our current home, there was an old rusty swing frame in the back which I was all for pitching, but the HH wanted to restore it and add a swing. Let me just say we should have looked into the cost of a new one versus  restoration.  Grin.
As of last week: project complete.
Okay, guys, how long do home projects take you?
