The Sentimental Menorah ~ #MondayBlogs
We go about our day, everything is normal, and suddenly something happens to remind us of times gone by and a tear falls…
Last night we lit the first Chanukah candle (there is the Shammos with eight candles, one for each night). To say our prayers and fulfill the mitzvoh(commandment), we light an open flame (in our home, candles) menorah, but we use an electric menorah in the window for display and safety reasons (curtains, shades, etc.).
Let me fill you in on back story here:My family has the...

Storm Rolling In ~ Weekend Writing Warriors / #8sunday / 12/06/15
Hi! Welcome to another Weekend Writing Warrior and Snippet Sunday round. Every week writers post 8-to-10 sentences on their blogs from a published or unpublished book. Then we "hop" around and leave comments on each other's snippets. Whether our work is already published or in progress, the helpful comments help us become stronger writers on our next WIP. We welcome EVERYONE's comments.

A writer just might write about you ~ #MondayBlogs
We have all, at some point, felt sucker punched when someone we THOUGHT we knew and trusted so well figuratively stabs us in the back. With head hung low, sometimes all you have to do is look back realistically and honestly to see all the tell-tale signs we should have been aware of all through our friendship/relationship. Many times we will see them, after the fact of course, and with a self-deprecating head-slap we finally knock ourselves into acceptance that maybe we are just better...

What is religion? ~ #MondayBlogs
Religion is a belief system, a road map of sorts, something to give us all guidance through life. Yes, many of these belief systems have a Deity (mono or poly theistic) that we direct our prayers and hopes to, but ultimately the rules that are dictated by a particular belief system are designed to help us function and thrive in this world among our fellow humans.
Religion should not be used as a mask, a false front or an excuse for intolerance or cruelty. There are extremists in every religion...

Don’ t do the work ~ #MondayBlogs
Terrorists and bullies use fear, intimidation, random violence and chaos to control and push self-serving agendas. Unfortunately when these acts SEEM to involve specific ethic groups, this fear promotes bigotry.
In recent times we’ve had terror attacks under the names of Al Qaida and ISIS promoting Islamic radicalism and Jihad. After attacks such as this weekend’s Paris horror there have been fears of retribution and escalated violence. The violence and hatred multiplies, resentmen...

Deanna Blair moved to New York City to make more money so she could send it home to her parents whose home and business were ravaged by the hurricanes. Then Deanna is accidentally caught up in the middle of a bank robbery and taken captive. One of the brutal men seems different from the rest and he keeps Deanna safe from the other men and she is very attracted to him. When the police find and raid the group, the man she has feelings for is shot down in front of her. Now Deanna's entire life has been turned upside down. But there is more to the story than even Deanna knows¦
This is a highly emotional and stressful read. My heart pounded and I cried for Deanna in several places in the story. Deanna is truly an innocent in all of this and now she will likely live with the aftermath from the kidnapping for years to come and no one seems really c ...more
