About Bartlett’s Rule & #MeToo
When I was writing Bartlett’s Rule I drew on a lot of experiences that my friends and I had growing up. According to statistics from RAINN “One out of every six American women has been a victim of attempted or completed rape in her lifetime.” My friends and I definitely knew the reality of that number.
In Bartlett’s Rule Paige is unable to talk about her experience, she feels shame and doubts that people will believe her. Even though she has gotten some therapy, it is hard to get past the guil...

A Story for Today — Courage of the Heart
About Courage of the Heartby Chelle Cordero
When I wrote Courage of the Heart in 1999 it was well before the #MeToo movement, ironically the story is right on spot for 2018.
But in this case it is not the female lead who was victimized; however she does endure many perils in the story. My male lead, Adam, is not the “typical” romance novel hero, he has seen ugliness and cruelty and has lived his life a wounded man. Until Davie comes into his life…
She’s an innocent as far as he is concerne...

Is it just a dream?
from Annie's Karma
“Tomorrow. He won’t know what’s coming.” The man sitting on the lower bunk was picking at his nails with a shiny blade.
“In the showers?” Another man had his back to her as he urinated in the stainless steel toilet in the corner.
“Yeah. The guards will keep everyone out.” He heard someone walking down the corridor and quickly stashed the metal razor under his mattress.
The men didn’t see Annie standing there, but then she was only dreaming. It looked like the inside of a prison...

Who is Chelle Cordero? — A little bit about me...
Hi all. You may already know me from my many posts, my Facebook Author Page, my Website, any of the many Tweets or other posts I've made... I'm not exactly shy, lol.
I've borrowed some words from my publisher's website VHPBookTours.com and want to tell you a bit about myself, sort of an introduction for anyone who might be interested.
Thank you for reading. (and thanks to Kimberlee [VHP managing editor/publisher] for making me look so nice!)

Do You Believe in Karma?
"My life changed after I died.
It’s not like I had any special powers.
They just didn’t understand me.
They underestimated me.
I had a gift."
an excerpt
The girl sobbed and Annie looked at her again. The girl was staring back at her. Her eyes were wide with fright.“Can… you… see me?” Annie’s voice was shaky. Her dreams had always taken her to accidents, disasters, and the victim was always ready to die. Annie hoped this girl wasn’t going to die. This wasn’t an accident, this was evil. “Where are we...

Hashtag-Me-Too ~ #MondayBlogs
RAINN and other well-known sources have been citing appalling statistics about sexual assault and abuse in America since 1994. However it wasn’t until 2016 and 2017 when a deluge of sexual assault/abuse/harassment allegations against famous personalities came to the forefront that most people started mouthing the words, “I can’t believe how many allegations...” Earlier this year Facebook saw a huge amount of their members posting #MeToo representing those of us who suffered in silence and in...

The First Page Review blog hop ~ Annie's Karma
from Annie's Karma
Prologue
“Okay. This is the last of the boxes. Now we can get out of this hell-hole.”“Uh-huh.” Annie kept her back to him so he couldn’t see the tears on her cheeks.“Hey, are you okay?” Dave put the box down and went to her. He put his arms around her middle and gently pulled her back against him. “Do you want to talk about it?”“No.” She turned in his arms and wrapped her arms around his waist. “It’s stupid. I haven’t been living here for months… and I certainly wasn’t...

A Teaser from Touch of Love
An Empty House
No matter how many times I turned the key in the lock I was always disappointed to find the room within always empty. I kept hoping for the day he would return. I promised him I would wait as long as it took until he came back to me.For months I missed my husband, I missed sleeping next to him every night, and I missed seeing him every morning as he dressed for work. I was forced to accept the fact that it wasn’t our bed he fell asleep in every night. Someone else was preparing...

#DailyPrompt ~ SAVAGE ~ #MondayBlogs
I found a terrific writing site (thanks to my friend Sugana) — The Daily Post: Daily Prompts provides a NEW daily prompt every day to give every writer a way to put a spark in her/his creativity. I decided to join this group every so often...

Deanna Blair moved to New York City to make more money so she could send it home to her parents whose home and business were ravaged by the hurricanes. Then Deanna is accidentally caught up in the middle of a bank robbery and taken captive. One of the brutal men seems different from the rest and he keeps Deanna safe from the other men and she is very attracted to him. When the police find and raid the group, the man she has feelings for is shot down in front of her. Now Deanna's entire life has been turned upside down. But there is more to the story than even Deanna knows¦
This is a highly emotional and stressful read. My heart pounded and I cried for Deanna in several places in the story. Deanna is truly an innocent in all of this and now she will likely live with the aftermath from the kidnapping for years to come and no one seems really c ...more
