Mothering Sunday

 It's Mothering Sunday here in the UK. Our Mother's Day. This isn't the Hallmark event, but a tradition that goes back to the times when, on the fourth Sunday in Lent, servant girls were given the afternoon off to visit their Mothers.

They took them a Simnel cake - spicy, topped with marzipan - and picked wild flowers on the way.
