I have arrived in beautiful Zurich. It is pristine and perfect, just as one might imagine. Wintery and magical. I just had a long lunch, which included a pile of amazing buttery roesti. I MIGHT have had a few glasses of wine. Given that fact, I should probably stop typing now and rest up for tonight's event so I will seem polished and professional and articulate when the time comes…

(Oh my god, and the chocolate cake was OFF THE HOOK!)

Let me just point out that I started this book tour a few months ago in sleeveless frocks, and now I'm all bundled up like a babushka. But so worth it…what a beautiful city this is! I walked around the winding streets all afternoon, and made friends with some very magnificent trees in the park, as well. A sparkling, romantic day…

Thank you, The New York Times, for naming THE SIGNATURE OF ALL THINGS as one of the 100 most notable books of 2013!

I am deeply honored to be on this list. Especially because it's been such a top-notch year for books…I'm so happy to see the novel WANT NOT on this list, too, and also the memoir A HOUSE IN THE SKY — both of which I recommended on this page in the last few months. So many other great ones on here, as well.

Just wondering how many of these titles you've all read? And what terrific books of 2013 do you think are missing from the NY Times round-up?
