Call Me Lucifer
published by Whiskey Creek Press Torrid
He is much more than the horrific job title and now he needs to prove it to her!
Lucifer, the Prince of Darkness, works hard dishing out punishments and asks for little in return, until now. He's been waiting an eternity for a woman who would bring out his gentle side, his need to love and be loved in return. He'd started to wonder if she even existed but at last he's found her, in a courtroom arguing for a tougher sentence.
After his first introduction to Nia Adams, a sexy petite firebrand, he spends all his time on the surface at her side. They have a serious relationship and he's sure the emotion bouncing between them is love. Then she lies to him about how she feels.
While difficult to hear, the lie opens a door. It gives him the only chance he'll ever have to show her who the man behind the horrific job title really is. And he takes it with both hands.
Excerpt
After a few more minutes of trying to calm her roaring thoughts, Nia started to release a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding. Only it caught in the back of her throat as a deep voice resonated along the hallway.
"Ms. Adams, the door is now open. Come."
Nia sat perfectly still, unblinking and unable to move from the seat she'd only a few seconds before had been so eager to escape. Each word he spoke seeped straight through her body, settling to a slow and steady pulsating thump in her pussy. It was the wickedest reaction she'd ever had to a man speaking to her.
How was she supposed to conduct herself in a calm and professional manner, when the mere sound of his voice sent her lust spilling from her? She never wanted to meet the owner face-to-face. There was no doubt such a meeting would surely lead to her downfall. Unfortunately, luck wasn't at her side that day. Somehow she knew he was the person she was supposed to see.
Looking down the passageway, Nia noticed the previously closed door at the end stood ajar.
"Now." The single word reeked of power as it blasted down the hallway, from the room beyond the opened door, and through her body.
Dang! The trouble she was in had suddenly taken an unexpected turn and she couldn't see a way around it. She stood up quickly and turned to walk toward the office, only her feet wouldn't move. Bracing a hand on the wall to help steady herself, she placed the other over her nervous stomach, and took a deep breath.
She followed it up with another one, thankfully steadier than the last.
Before she could take her first step, the voice growled more deeply than the first time, and her knees trembled. The man was angry, but the sound of his voice turned her on, and tempted her passionate nature to come out and play. Maybe he was an old, ugly troll, with a great voice. Somehow she doubted it, but she'd use whatever helped her get through the meeting.
"You don't want to upset me, Ms. Adams."
Muttering to herself about how impatience was not a virtue, she followed it up with how typical of a man to demand rather than request. It was the pep talk she'd needed to get herself moving and she took a step forward with her usual in charge style.
"I can hear what you're saying."
Raising a hand to cover her mouth, she gasped, stunned at his ability to see and hear everything she did.
Who was this man and why had she been summoned? She was a good person who didn't lie, cheat, or steal, and had never hurt a soul. In fact, every single day she did her best at work, finding justice for those who needed it. Surely doing good was the right thing to do.
"Come," he barked down the hall. Startled, she jumped and started to make her way to the door. The only sound she heard was the solid clicking her heels made as she strode across the marble floor. Because she heard only it, Nia focused on each step she took. She wanted to ensure her footsteps didn't sound hurried or hesitant, merely confident, sure of where she was going. It was something she could control in the nightmare she found herself in, so she'd take it.
She made it to the end of what felt like an endless length of hallway, paused for a stabilizing breath before stepping through the opened door. Deciding not to be intimidated anymore, Nia nudged the door open further, entered the room, and found it not at all threatening like she'd expected. In fact, it looked how she thought a cozy traditional library to look. It was dark, but there were two magnificent fireplaces on either side of the large yet still intimate feeling room, each with a roaring fire blazing inside. They brought heat and also seemed to supply the only light for the room. She couldn't see any windows and no other door except the one she'd entered through.
In the flickering firelight, she looked at an imposing Napoleon styled desk with a massive chair resting behind it, facing away from her.
"Shut the door."
Nia jumped at the seductive tone. For a moment she'd forgotten what had brought her into the room. She needed to get a hold of herself. It was the voice's fault for sending her thoughts spiraling into unwanted territory. This was definitely not the time or place to think about sex.
Casting her gaze around the room again, she reminded herself that she was not there for her enjoyment, despite her imagination trying to take over. For a second she thought if there were comfortable over-sized couches resting before the fireplaces, she'd be begging for time alone to immerse herself in the greatness of the room. It would've been purely rapturous, but there weren't any, and she was there for a different reason.
Turning around, she shut the door with a quiet snick, only to jump back when the lock shot to with a solid click. Abruptly, she spun around to face the desk, ready to voice her displeasure over how she'd been treated thus far, when the sexy voice growled again. The pulse returned to her pussy with a vengeance.
"Sit down, Ms. Adams."
A finger appeared from the side of chair, nonchalantly pointing at the chair she assumed was for guests. Wanting to get the meeting over with as quickly as possible, she held back her temper, and moved to sit just as she'd been outside. A rigidly straight back, knees and ankles locked together, feet flat on the floor, and her hands clasped in her lap. She was ready for whatever happened next.

A Fabulously Fascinating Leap Day Note
Have you ever heard of Adolph Blaine Charles David Earl Frederick Gerald Hubert Irvin John Kenneth Lloyd Martin Nero Oliver Paul Quincy Randolph Sherman Thomas Uncas Victor William Xerxes Yancy Zeus Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenberdorft Sr.?
The gentleman was born in Germany and later emigrated to the US, Philadelphia in specific, where is set up as a typesetter. His full name, a Christian name starting with each letter of the alphabet happens to make his name the longest at 746 letters used by a single person. The shortened version he went by was Hubert Blaine Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff, Sr. (or Wolfe+585, Senior).
While all that is interseting, what actually brought him to my attention was his birthday - February 29 1904. He was a leap day baby with a wonderfully long name that, when at its shortest, is even cooler! Wolfe+585, Senior!
I wish I could find a photo of him and I'd post it...love this fabulously fascinating leap day fact, but because it's Hump Day, I thought I'd post Antonio Sabato, Jr. who was born on February 29 1972 and is a sexy 10 years old.

An #AADNOLA Reading Challenge Review of Summer Surrender: Sun Moon by @Bronwyn Green @aadconvention
Summer Surrender by Bronwyn Green
Shapeshifter Erotic Romance + Ménage a Trois
Published by Resplendence Publishing
Buy ebook from All Romance│Amazon│BN│Resplendence Publishing
Hollis Chambers came to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to teach summer school at a small rural high school. She'd planned on hanging out on the shores of Lake Superior, taking walks in the woods and studying the wildlife. She never imagined that she'd meet one man, let alone two, to have a hot summer fling with.
Lynx shifters Daniel Cichosz and Josiah Wilder know a good thing when they see it and they're fairly certain that the gorgeous, full-figured substitute teacher is just who they've been looking for. Hollis surrenders to their seduction, but how will she feel about being mated to shifters, particularly when Daniel's brother is added to the mix?
This was one of those books I couldn't put down. I had to finish Summer Surrender: Sun Moon and then swiftly moved on to the next by Ms. Green, Autumn Sacrifice: Blood Moon. The draw for me to these books was the characters first and foremost, and then came the shifter and hot ménage a trios aspects.
Ms. Green builds characters in a way that makes you feel like you know them already, just not all the intimate details. Maybe it's who she writes about, relatable people that make them so enjoyable to read. Hollis Chambers is a teacher from New York City working for the summer in Michigan. Daniel Cichosz, vice principal, and Josiah Wilder, teacher, are also working summer school. They're locals who make Hollis feel at ease in a new place so different from the city as well as the reader. While I have visited Michigan a few times, even stopped off at one of the lakes, Ms. Green ensured I want to go again and spend more time there.
One thing that I often find awkward in books that contain a ménage a trois is how the scenario is introduced. The opening lines of Summer Surrender: Sun Moon put the multiple partner lifestyle there as already an unconventional yet established way of life, which enables the reader no room to query its existence but leaves room for it to grow into a potential reality for the heroine.
Okay, I admit I know Bronwyn Green and am honored to call her sister. We're both Green(e)'s which means we're often sat next to her at conventions and so I've been able to get to know her in what could be a stressful situation. No matter what's happening, she's a gentle soul that I can now attest is an unmentioned thread that comes out in her work. Summer Surrender: Sun Moon was the book you can't put down because you want to know what happens next, not only next, but how it all ends. I know they'll be happy, but will they be together? Remember, Hollis Chambers is there for the summer, so…sorry, you'll have to read it to find out.
Ms. Green will be at Authors After Dark Readers Convention in New Orleans so make sure and read her before the event. Here are some links to find her and her books, friend her, like her, but most of all, read her books!

Naughty Thought for Monday
Fashion Weeks are happening across the globe these days and so fashion is on my mind and I stumbled across Miro Moreira as photographed by Hugo Toni for Made in Brazil on Homotography. Dare I say, the pants would defintiely catch your attention if they were worn out on you local High Street/Main Street.
Wow!
Now, inquiring minds want to know: Would you dare wear underwear with these or go bare?

"You're standing awfully close," she whispered.
"I am, aren't I?" he whispered back. "Do you want me to move?"
Yes! No! Oh Lord, help me. I've never felt so weak.
"Show me the next step—with the oyster, that is," she said quickly.
"Certainly." He gripped her hand around the knife again and made deft movements to cut the meat from the shell. "Cut here and there. That's all there is to it."
"You make it look so simple," she said, realizing he could pull her out of her shell just as easily.
When he stepped away from her, her legs nearly gave out. It was as if the hardness that had been nestled against her was the only thing that had been keeping her standing upright in front of the table.
He stepped beside her and she watched, fascinated, as he tipped the oyster half with the meat on it to his mouth. Watching the wet creature slide past the dark hairs of his moustache intrigued her in a way she couldn't explain.
When he bent forward to kiss her, she was too aroused to refuse. His pale blue eyes came closer than they ever had and all she could do was stare helplessly into them. It was as if she floated higher and higher into the sky, never to set foot on firm earth again.
She felt his moustache first, hot and coarse, and then his lips, cooler and wetter. As his mouth worked over hers, something pushed between her lips. His tongue? She met it with hers, stroking with an abandon she refused to acknowledge as her own.
He tasted of the sea. No, not just one tongue. Two? She was too distracted by the heat boiling through her belly to care. When he removed his mouth, she realized he'd put the oyster inside her mouth.
Without thinking, she spit it out and it landed on the floor.
Caleb tipped his head back and laughed. It was a beautiful man's laugh, musical and deep. Unfortunately she didn't feel very amused.
"Now Ernie would have a fit if he saw you messed up his clean floor," he said. "I take it you don't care for oysters."
She crossed her arms. "No, I don't. I thought you had swallowed it. And you shouldn't have kissed me."
He wiped his hand on one of the clean rags nearby and she did the same. Then he leaned an elbow against the table and looked at her.
"Why not, honey? We're not married."
"In case you haven't noticed," she said, "we're not the same color—or social class, for that matter. You're the owner of this establishment and I'm just a poor—"
He put two fingers to her lips to quiet her. The lingering scent of oysters drifted from them, making her breathe faster. She was beginning to like oysters…

A work of art, a game and, well, it is actually so much more...
... it's One Red Dot by David A Carter's, A Pop-Up Book for Children of All Ages series!
These books, 5 thus far, are simply wonderful for all people to play with and enjoy.
After turning a page, the imagine-filled work explodes open with a burst of color and activity, and the reader must find a particular item* located somewhere within the piece. It is a 3D, 360 degree search and not always as easy as you think it would be.
What's hidden throughout the pages is what each book in the series is titled. In the case to the right, it's *One Red Dot, but others are Blue 2, Yellow Square, 600 Black Spots and White Noise.
Imaginative fun with books is there for all ages, pop-up books in particular. This week of indulging my love for paper engineering feats I've shared the non-fiction and history of, fairytales and poetry, and finally the silly yet practicale fun to be had with a good pop-up and that was just 5 books. I have so many more sitting on my shelves that are interseting and am always open to acquiring another - can't wait to see what pop's up on the horizon!

There is beauty in swinging and pulling, yet all is...
... calm in Fishing for the Moon and other Zen stories pop-up by Lulu Hansen.
Not all 3D books need to have elaborate happenings to make them enjoyable, it really does depend on the text itself as to what type of mechnical magic brings a sparkle to a pop-up.
In A Rock in Your Head page to the right, the rock above the gentleman in blue's head actually strated out closer to the edge of the page. As the page is opened, it has a wonderful shooting action that sends the meaning to the viewer that the missile is about to hit his head. I won't go into the meaning of the story, but suffice it to say he had the wrong answer and went back inside for more training.
This pop-up is wonderfully constructed, each device to bring the magic was well chosen, and is one I've gifted to others. It's a peaceful, thoughtful, book with beautiful illustrations.

Delicate and yet sturdy, pretty and still mechanically inclined...
... I'm talking about Cinderella, the pop-up book by Matthew Reinhart.
The reins are silver ribbon and the wings on the fairy godmother are thin, clear, painted plastic. The carriage resembles a pumpkin, but your eye can't help but go to the rat peeking through the window in the corner packet. When it's opened, the pesky beast turns into a jolly coachman and is swiftly followed with another page turn and lizards become footmen.
That is a brief explanation of just one page this book. Both Reinhart and Sabuda are known to offer a cornucopia of paper engineering and story details that entertains with every page in each of their books - they are a must have for every pop-up lover.

Allow me to introduce you to the first true self-erecting...
Photo borrowed from The Popuplady
... pop-up!
S. Louis Giraud [1879-1950], a newspaper publicist, entered the world of movable books with a page-activated, 360 degree, 3D paper constructions. While collaborating with Theordore Bown, an inventor of optical entertainments - pop-ups as we know them today - were included in the 1929 Daily Express Children's Annual.
Where did I learn this fabulous information?
From A Celebrat10n of Pop-Up and Movable Books, published in 2004 by the Movable Book Society as a Special Limited Edition. It's a must have for the paper engineer lover as a wonderful fount of information on the development of over 700 years of pop-ups. The book is difficult to find, but if you stumble across one, pick it up and enjoy.
This year the Movable Book Society holds its 9th Biennial Conference in Salt Lake City, UT [September 27-29] and if you're in the area, go and be enthralled by the magic that happens between the covers of a book!

How did you start the day?
I woke up this morning and, after mentally noting what I needed to do today, I remembered it was President's Day, I thought about Robert Sabuda's America the Beautiful pop-up.
Why?
Well, besides truly adoring my pop-up collection, I thought there was one of Mount Rushmore in the book - which has Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln - and went to see if I was right. I was, but the doubt is always there I think because they aren't in date order, if they were, then Lincoln would come before Roosevelt.
Weird hang up, I know, but there it is and the result makes me query who are the four presidents on Mount Rushmore.
Anyway, Happy President's Day!
