An Interview with Drogan!

I recently read a story by Selena Illyria called At Drogan's Command and I have a few questions for the hero, Drogan, who is seriously hot and a thinker, what a mix!  Anyway, I thought I'd share the interview with you all and suggest you pick up a copy of the book ... out this September 20th at Etopia Press ... for your own enjoyment!

Without further ado, here's the QandA I had with Drogan from At Drogan's Command by Selena Illyria.

TG: Drogan,
nice to have you here and thank you for answering my questions which, I should
warn you, will touch on the intimate side.

Drogan
*grins and settles back into his Captain’s chair*: I have nothing to hide, fire
away.

TG: First
of all, I was intrigued by your having a private fantasy suite on the
ship.  Your visit to it was a delightful
surprise, but I was wondering:  Is there
one available for the other staff to visit and work off their frustrations?

Drogan: Of
course, do you think I’d be able to keep all these misfits in line without a
few fantasy suites? They’d jettison me out into space or worse play the whole
Pirates of Penzance over the ship’s intercom non-stop until I capitulate.

TG: That makes sense, smart man.  Okay, since
we’ve touched on the sexual side of life on the ship, I must ask:  Did you not feel guilty in watching all 36
hours of Rena’s sex disc?  It’s hard to
tell with how much you get off while watching it.

Drogan: Oh,
I felt guilty all right, but I was also so desperate for her that well, I let
my inner demon make the call. I kept wanting to return the disc but I’d find
some excuse to not do so. No time, what if the copy didn’t come out right, etc.
Excuse I know but I’ve never claimed to be a saint. *his lips curl into a
devious grin*

TG: No, I wouldn't think of labeling you a saint, far from it!  Now, if we
stay with Rena, from what I can tell, you weren’t going to get anything but
frustration by sending her away, physical and mental.  So how were you able to stay so together and
remote while wrecking her world with a suspension?

Drogan:
Honestly? *he strokes his stubble* my first Officer Jason Mercy will tell you,
I barely kept it together. I was a bit of hellion, hard to admit. I growled at
the crew, hid my suite when I wasn’t on deck. I was a complete bastard. But I
didn’t fall apart, couldn’t, not with my plan in motion. Rena was the end game
and even if she hadn’t come to me I
would’ve gone to her.

TG: That's very good to know.  As a
woman, I would probably think you just wanted me for sex after viewing a disc
showing a week session of sex, not once but multiple times.  So, after all is said and done, do you think
you did enough to make Rena believe you want her for her, maybe even love her?

Drogan: I
will never think I’ve done enough until she says she can truly trust me with
all she is, her heart, her love, everything.
I may have gotten the woman but I still have to do a lot to make it up
to her. I’m not proud of what I did but in the end I have her so ends justifies
the means, eh? *he raises an eyebrow in question*

TG: Yes, I suppose it does, in the end.  My last
question for you is on a different note entirely.  I’m a fan of tattoos and, well, I need to
know about your ink, the skull.  What can
you tell us?

Drogan
*strokes his stubble once again*: Depends, can you keep a secret? Okay, I guess
I can tell you. I’m sure you heard of the Space Pirate wars? When space was a
lawless frontier my family became space pirates to make a living. We brought
supplies to Earth colonies and bartered for gas and food with Intergalactic
ships while evading the Intergalactic sheriffs who wanted to keep things
official. The skull and crossbones is something my family has done to remember
our origins and where our money has come from. One day I’m sure the historians will
set it all down for posterity or whatever. *he waves it away* But I like to
make everyone think I’m really still on the pirates side. *he winks*

TG:  You are a wicked man, Captain.  I like that, a lot!  Thank you for answering a few of my questions and I wish you nothing but happiness with Rena.

Happy Friday Hint!

While I'm writing I like to have something playing in the background. Sometimes I fall into the show and other times I just blank it out entirely. What I am currently watching, sort of, is Anthony Bourdain: The Layover.

What a great concept for a show. He has 24 hours, sometimes 36 and occasionally 48, to see a city. The first one I saw was London back in 2011 and I still remember a street truck/shack for early morning bacon sarnies and 2 restaurants ... one in The City where you have the same waiter every time you go.  I want to visit these and many others as well.

I love how he takes the viewer to a city and not do what's not in the tour guide. The restaurants are a large part of the show, Bourdain is a chef after all, but he visits both posh and street trucks for an overall taste of what is offered. Then there are the bars he visits ... all look fun for a variety of reasons.

So, what did I do to get my layover fix? I downloaded The Layover App so it goes with me, everywhere, and I now have the places to try at my fingertips.  Thank you Travel Channel!

Travel fix taken care of and an idea for the 20th anniversary trip ... happy Friday!

For the moment ... first line!

Here you go, the first line from the rough draft of Jon Black's Woman :-

“Fucking hell! At least kiss the woman, otherwise the next time I see your hard-on I’m going to chop it off.”

Things may change, but for now, I like where this one is going!

Now it's back to writing :-)

Time to WRITE!

Yesterday I mentioned the rerelease and new book release progress I'm making and can finally focus on writing.  Well, today I thought I'd tell you what I'm actually going to be working on.

First up is Jon Black's Woman [contemporary western erotic romance + tattoo, bondage and toys.  This is the 4th and final book in the Branded series.  I love spending time immersed in the lives of my kinky cowboys.  Jon is part Native American and Molly is English.  An interesting mixture of cultures, but that's all they are ... labels.  Jon was brought up by his father and followed in his footsteps into the Marine Corps.  He's the foreman on the Big W ranch now and has a reputation of being the strong, silent and sexy stud who always gets the woman he wants ... no matter how kinky he wants it.  Molly followed a similar path in that she made her way into the family "trade" of horse riding as a sport.  Like her father, she made it to the Olympics in Dressage where she had problems with her couch.  Not having the support of her family when everything hits the fan sent her running around the world, eventually landing in Japan.  That ugly time in her life must finally be faced in order to have who she wants, maybe even loves ... Jon.  Can these two put the world behind them and move forward together?

Yup, its going to be fun writing these two's story.

The second book I'll be working on is the 4th in the still unnamed series, although it used to be a Passion for Fashion and Bondage.  Right now the 1st, Leather Bride , is out and the 2nd, Gilded Cage , is in edits before being released.  Because I've missed this world of fashion capitals around the world, I'm jumping over the 3rd in reworked and am going to work on the Not Named Title.  This one takes place in Milan, I know, MILAN in ITALY and yes, I've visited for research and they offer fabulously thick hot chocolate, and is about a shoe designer and race car driver and mechanic.  That's right, ménage a trois with a nice dose of bondage time!  There's a problem between two of them when the third is brought in to save the day and boy, does he save the relationship by joining them on a permanent basis!

The end of the year ... October through December ... is always rough in the Greene household with travel galore, but I plan to be finished with Jon Black's Woman and good progress made on the Not Named Title.

Wish me luck!

Book and eBook status

I know, I have been missing in action, but I have a very good excuse ...

At the end of 2012 I ended up with 9 books back in my lap and have been diligently working through the stack to put them out on my own.  It's been great fun, but the writing new stories has taken a back seat which sucks.  So, a little way more than halfway through the stack, I'm finally feeling good about my progress and thought I'd share with you what books are back out ... they are:

The contemporary military erotic romance + spanking and exhibitionism, Finding Home .

Then there's the  Mythological Messes Redux series which I released monthly.

Hephaestus Lays Down the Law

Together Again?

Double Punch

Cyra's Cyclopes

Tied Up For Love

And to make all you mythological erotic romance lovers out there smile, a new story called Second Chances, is out in the anthology Mythological Messes Redux: Sex, Love and Immortality and is the only place you'll find it!  This anthology came out first as a paperback for AAD [Authors After Dark] convention in Savannah first and then, once I got my breath back, I released the paperback and ebook.

Finally, Giddy Up , the third book in the Branded series will be out on September 17th ... this Tuesday.  To celebrate a new story coming out, I have the book at $0.99 if preordered.

I've also made Pleasured in New York City and The Keeper FREE at All Romance ... still trying to get them listed as $0.00 through Amazon.

There you go, lots and lots of exciting stuff is happening and I'll try to be more present ... pinky swear!

Who is the real cupid?

Originally posted February 11 2008

It’s Valentine’s Day!

One day out of the year we dedicate to roses, chocolates and diamonds, mixed in with pink and red visions of romance and a baby wearing wings, carrying a bow and arrow. Wait a minute, a baby with a weapon? That's right. So, what makes Cupid right for the job? I'm not so sure he is, Eros might actually be better qualified for the position.

Both Ancient Greece and Rome had their own mythology and pantheon of deities to worship. Over the centuries the two groups have been combined, separated or listed side by side for comparison. Needless to say it’s sometimes difficult to know what’s true to their mythology and what isn’t. That said we definitely know that Eros was the God of Love for the Ancient Greeks and Cupid is the God of Erotic Love and Sex for the Romans. Unfortunately, that’s where it stops being clear-cut and simple.

In Mythology: Timeless Tales of Gods and Heroes, Edith Hamilton states Eros was depicted as a “beautiful serious youth”. H.J Rose’s says in A Handbook of Greek Mythology that he was “handsome young athlete”, but before both of these characterizations were made he represented love, lust and intercourse as one of the oldest gods in Greece. Where worshipping of the god was important it’s been discovered he was the deity for attractive young men and boys. Across the Adriatic, Cupid was depicted as a child who had the same traits as those already noted. Like Janus, it was questioned whether Cupid had two distinctive sides to his persona or was actually two separate individuals.

After gaining Aphrodite, Goddess of Love and Beauty, as his mother along with three prospective fathers, Eros image of male lust and sex was further encouraged. One probable father was Hermes, a phallic god and another was Ares, God of War. It seems even in the ancient world a warrior encouraged a woman’s desire to grow exponentially. The third potential was Aphrodite’s father, Zeus. This union was viewed as sexual passion so strong and out of control it has no limitations. This association with the uncontrollable made Eros a dangerous god. The parent issue was similar for Cupid. Jupiter and Venus were also noted as his parents, as were Nyx and Erebus. Both possible couples helped define and solidify various qualities of his character.

Both Cupid and Eros seem fairly interchangeable at this stage, except for their appearances and the Ancient Greek god having elements of danger associated with him. It's at this point the two figures actually appear to swap personalities.

It wasn’t until Alexandrian times that women come into picture for Eros. This happened when the ideal relationship between men and women moved from being mere sexual desire to one of love from the heart. Because of this supposed softening to his characterization, the God of Love’s importance to men was lessened. With this change in attributes, as well as society moving away from worshipping gods and goddess, he became a chubby child with a wicked bow, seen mainly in connection with Aphrodite and subordinate to others.

Cupid gained some clout as a god of love with an appearance on the romantic stage with the Cupid and Psyche’s love story, written in the second century [A.D.] by Apuleius. The story depicted Cupid as a young man and involved very adult issues found in romance like love, jealousy, mistrust and forgiveness. Unfortunately, it seems as if it wasn’t enough to allow him to be depicted as anything but a baby for Valentine’s Day.

So, what do you think? Does it make sense for Cupid to be the image of Valentine's Day? He is a child afterall. Maybe Eros [erotic love] would be better suited for the holiday that encourages lovers to put their hearts out there for their lovers to see and experience.

A really big contest from @Eververse and the prize has to do with #AADSAV!

Something Darker by S. A. Price

Order Print or Kindle

The one thing Syrus Alcot, the God of Death Osiris in the Egyptian Pantheon, wants in all the worlds is the woman he loved and lost returned to him. When he gave up his powers, and freedom for a life of service he was promised her return. That was over one thousand years ago. A member of a team of dark gods charged with keeping humanity safe, he leads a loveless existence in New York City, searching for the one thing that could bring his wife back to him, a lapis scarab that was lost to him ages before.

Gwen Stapleton, a mild mannered librarian, is unaware that she holds the key to not only Syrus’ happiness, but her own. Seemingly stuck in a hopeless relationship with a man she doesn’t love, she has no idea that a chance meeting in Alphabet City will start a landslide to her heart’s content. Because Gwen is the keeper of the scarab, and is everything Syrus has ever wanted… and he’s not the only one.

An Ancient evil is waking, and its servants will stop at nothing to see it seize its rightful place as the new pantheon of earth. And in order for Syrus and his team to save the world, Gwen is going to have to accept him, and show that love does make all the difference.

When on vacation why not revisit a couple favorite locations found in my books!

Earlier I mentioned going to the Oxford Bar in Edinburgh from Ian Rankin's Rebus books and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  So, when we went south to Leeds in Yorkshire where I went to university, we thought why not visit a few spots I put into seriously kinky My Angel from the Good Bad and Kinky series?

We were shopping, walking from arcade to street, when I realized we were trolling through the arcade I'd chosen to host a sexy lingerie shop the couple visit and pick up a few interesting items.  It was dressed for Christmas but not in an over-the-top kind of way ... I found the decor rather elegant.

Next we meandered down Briggate and once we passed the Victoria Quarter and Harvey Nichols, we kept our eyes peeled to the right and there it was, up high, a sign denoting the pub we were looking for and it was there.  Walking down the subtle short enclosed pathway or gulley, we stepped out into an open space between the buildings.  From there it was a simple choice of where to go for lunch ... Whitelock's!

With a fine pint of Old Peculier ... honestly, the BEST! ... we sat down for a beef pie, monster chips, peas and sprouts while talking with the sweetest older gentleman ever.  He was a local who had had a stroke so everything "fine" or "fair" which was fine with us.  You see that is the best part of visiting the older pubs, the locals you find within on a cold day taking a rest and a pint.

Lovely!

January 1, 2013

We visited bonnie Scotland, Edinburgh actually, and it wasn't nearly long enough!

This year we decided to shake things up and fly into Edinburgh instead of London and take a couple days to see the city again.  Let me state this at the beginning, we're going to fly that way again and stay for longer, we loved Edinburgh before and fell in love all over again.

We were staying just off the Royal Mile so walked it a few times and Princes Street even more, but something we'd never done before and wanted to do this time was see the Royal Britannia.  This is the royal yacht that has recently be laid to rest in Leith and boy was it worth a visit.

I admit to thinking before we got there that it would be a bit boring and we'd move through quickly, boy was I wrong.  It was fascinating to see how the royals and laymen lived together in such small quarters, boy to I mean small!

Halfway through the 3+ hour tour we stepped into the tea shop and had lunch, so decadent.  Cutie ordered a cuppa [actually a little pot that holds about three cups] and I a hot chocolate ... yum!  From there I had a sandwich ... crusts were left on, and the cutie had cullen skink, a fishy thing so I passed on tasting but he enjoyed.

From top to bottom, rear to stern [?], we took in the ship and would recommend others make the short and easy trip out to see it.

There was shopping to do, it was Christmas time after all, and pubs to visit.  The two I'll note here are Oxford Bar from Ian Rankin's Rebus books and yeah, it is exactly how he writes it!  The other was Royal Cafe from Chariots of Fire movie.  Nope, don't remember the scene but the friend of ours who lives there and recommended a few places to us said it was a must visit and he was so very right.  We loved this pub so much we went next door to the restaurant for dinner.

My problem with eating in Scotland is the copious amount of seafood but here they had a single ever so small quail leg resting on a cushion of garlic mash potatoes for me and a bowl of mulles et frites for the cutie followed by a glass of fine whisky for afters ... a when in Rome kind of thing.
