FOOD:

We just met with the folks at Hogstone's on Orcas Island to discuss the dinner plans for this July's festival and we are beyond thrilled.  It is going to be locally sourced and delicious (and legit).  Everyone will pump their fists in the air.

There aren’t many full passes left, so get yours now before they are sold out.  (This is the only way to get to the Dinner Show on Saturday, July 19th.)

PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT:  Limited edition of 40 deluxe brass pins, 1 1/2” wide. These were made at Anacortes Brass Works, a rare opportunity for us to participate in the local heavy-manufacturing industry. They are just down the street from us and they make niiice stuff. Seriously.

This pin is straight up jewelery. It is made of hand-cast hand-polished brass with a tough screw-down toothed clasp on the back, plus a stamp that says “Anacortes Brass Works 2014”. They come in special jewelery boxes with a letterpressed band. Yes, we realize it’s a little bit much to be releasing a(nother) fancy coffee table book and a fancy decorative spangle at the same time, but what the heck.

The story with the design: It comes originally from a freestyle painting done by Kyle Field around 2001 and later used as the cover of Song Islands by the Microphones. I never wanted to have a “logo” for this P.W. Elverum & Sun project (or anything else) since the idea of a branded logo seems to come from somewhere at the cold pole far opposite “wild creativity”, but over the years this floating head doodle has insisted its way into many designs and iterations. It is time to admit that this is our flag. The mysterious face and the non-human sweetness are an emblem, a reminder, of that wild creativity that all these projects are about. I see it and I hear distant music. Why not wear one?

There is a 20 acre chunk of wild land on the south face of Mount Erie currently in limbo between conservation and an uncertain future.  Friends Of The ACFL and the City of Anacortes are working together to purchase the property and protect it forever as a crucial piece of wild space around our holy Mount Erie but they need to raise a whole bunch of money pretty quickly.  If you are interested in living in an ideal world you should donate to this, even if it’s just a little and even if you live a thousand miles away.  Here:www.friendsoftheacfl.org
