Presale offer: Donnelly’s Green Oil + Donnelly/Drescher broadside for $25
Click here to purchase Jean Donnelly’s Green Oil and a broadside signed by Donnelly and Julia Drescher for $25.
We at Further Other Book Works were so excited to be publishing Jean Donnelly’s new book of poems, Green Oil, that we decided to produce a broadside to commemorate the launch. The broadside measures 5.25” x 10” and features an inkjet print of the cover art from the book, a collage by Julia Drescher entitled “Sermon I,” as well as a passage from the book hand written in graphite by Jean Donnelly. Donnelly chose a variety of quotes, so each broadside is a little different. Produced in a variable edition of 55 signed and numbered copies, this broadside was printed on handmade Twinrocker Rotunda.
Get yours now for the presale price of $25 for both the book and the broadside, plus $5 for domestic shipping or $20 for international shipping. Though the book doesn’t officially launch until November, presale purchases will ship immediately.
Your presale purchase will ensure that we don’t go out of pocket on production costs and can continue to publish important new work. Forthcoming books include a collaboration between Robert Glück & Kathleen Fraser, a book of poems and sketches by josé felipe alvergue, and a serialized typewriter book by Carter Smith. In 2015, with the help of the Poetry Collection in Buffalo, we’ll get even more ambitious and bring out The Collages of Helen Adam…

Green Oil is the long awaited new collection by Jean Donnelly. The poems begin in a procedure that sidesteps pronouncement as the poet’s role, in favor of a kind of listening that allows for accident to open onto new understandings of language and making meaning. Donnelly begins by performing “liberal homophonic readings and orthographical transcriptions of poems in French from the collection Pièces by the poet Francis Ponge.” However, Donnelly listens beyond the procedure itself and hears, “at the threshold of the material traces of Ponge’s poems, […] the cadence of something not [her] own.” If readers hear clarity in these poems, Donnelly’s preface directs them not to the wisdom of any author, but to exactly those spaces between languages to which this author bent her ear in the first place.

Next to glue out the spines, then trim all three faces, and then attach spine liners. For this one, I’m using a super sturdy cambric for the liner.
