Advance info! Already?

Today I revieved my Advance Information leaflets for Middle Watch. It won't come out till 1st April 2012 so it seems odd to be trying to get shops interested in it already when I haven't even seen the proofs as yet.

Do people not get tired of hearing about something so far in advance? I always tend to wait till it's a little closer to the release date and it's worked fine so far but perhaps with all the competition on hand I'd better start moving now!

I'll let you know when the podcast is up and running. It was fun to go to London for the day and be interviewed by Ian Skillicorn, owner of Short Story Radio. He put together the podcast for The Crimson Bed and devised National Short Story Week to promote the dying art of writing short stories. It has been hugely successful so far.

As one goes out another begins...

Writing is a bit like having a family -deliver one and then begin another! Except in this case I'm still in the process of delivering 'Middle Watch', I have a cover image but awaiting the proofs from my publisher, Matador. Meanwhile I'm halfway through 'Dying Phoneix' which is to be a sequel to my first book, 'The Long Shadow' and aim to get the first draft ready by Christmas. I don't suppose I will but I'm aiming!

This is because writing becomes a neccessary part of one's life. Almost a writing junkie, that's what I am! Losing oneself in one's characters and plots take one away from the ordinariness of normal existence. Mind you, my 'ordinary' might seem thrilling to another person and vice versa. It's what seems commonplace in each life. Do the daily tasks, then slip away to one's little den and enter another world. An inner world where all is possible and, hopefully, all ends happily.
