‘Whenever I see liberals salivating over some black guy I’ve never heard of, my first instinct is always suspicion’

Gavin McInnes writes:

It took some work, but he admitted he was at least a very large part of Khan’s termination. Trotter was very ambiguous about everything but I pushed harder and eventually narrowed his motive for the smear down to the fact that Razib had not publicly distanced himself from Taki Theodoracopulos’ views nor that of other people who write at Taki’s Magazine and VDARE. This was a strange beef because he admitted he doesn’t agree with everything his boss Nick Denton believes. In fact, he chortled at the idea anyone would think he should. (…)

More prodding eventually got us to the magical R-word. Razib Khan is open to the studies of race and IQ, ergo he’s a dangerous racist – is the crux of the argument. I asked why it’s wrong to study IQ and he said such “scientific racism” could lead to policies that discriminate against blacks. The irony that he had cost [a brown guy] a real job by worrying about a hypothetical job was lost on the guy. I asked him to define racism and as is almost always the case with these people, he couldn’t do it. All he could tell me was that it’s “systemic.” It became clear that he hadn’t really given any of this much thought beyond that magic word. Basically, he starts with a loose premise about justice and then just bulldozes his way through other people’s personal lives.

#StopAlQudsDay launched by B’nai Brith

I criticize Canada’s “Official Jews” a LOT, and as readers may know, I (and a bunch of other people, like JDL Canada) have been pushing back against the annual Toronto Al Quds Day rally (a.k.a. Dog Kicking Day) for years.

B’nai Brith has picked up this cause.

So while I may have my issues with B’nai Brith and company, this is a worthwhile initiative.

Mark Steyn reminds us: Regulations can kill (WTC edition)

Safety third, people. Safety third.

…it should cause us to reflect on whether we have spent too much time in the last 14 years controlling things – doors, items you take on the plane – and not enough time looking at psychological motivations…

As a general rule, when something happens at 30,000 feet, the government regulators aren’t up there with you, and what determines whether anyone survives or not is whether the fellows who are present have the freedom to act – or whether the regulatory regime has put too many obstacles in the way. On the Germanwings flight, the captain might well have saved the plane – but the impenetrable door was too big an obstacle to overcome.

(Richard Fernandez points out a similar death-by-doors on September 11th – 200 people died in the elevators of the World Trade Center because it was assumed that the safest thing to do when an elevator stalls is immediately to disable the doors and keep everyone inside until the professionals can get to them.)

PS an oldie but goodie: Ooops! Thanks, enviro-wackos!

The use of asbestos ceased in the 1970s following reports of asbestos workers becoming ill from high exposures to asbestos fibers. The Mt. Sinai School of Medicine’s Irving Selikoff had reported that asbestos workers had higher rates of lung cancer and other diseases. Selikoff then played a key role in the campaign to halt the use of asbestos in construction.

In 1971, New York City banned the use of asbestos in spray fireproofing. At that time, asbestos insulating material had only been sprayed up to the 64th floor of the World Trade Center towers…

(…)

Levine’s company, Asbestospray, was familiar with the World Trade Center construction, but failed to get the contract for spraying insulation in the World Trade Center. Levine frequently would say that “if a fire breaks out above the 64th floor, that building will fall down.” (…)

Selikoff was certainly right to point out that some workers heavily exposed to certain types of asbestos fibers were at increased risk of disease. But Selikoff was wrong to press the panic button about any use of or exposure to asbestos. For example, no adverse health effect has ever been attributed to Levine’s technique of spraying wet asbestos, according to Harvard’s Wilson.

We may now be paying a horrible price for junk science-fueled asbestos hysteria.

Nipping all this ‘Black Power’ revisionism in the bud

BostonReview:

He recounts Malcolm X’s secret 1961 meeting with representatives of the Georgia Ku Klux Klan to discuss their shared insistence on racial separation. He notes that at a few NOI rallies Malcolm X and Elijah Muhammad hosted George Lincoln Rockwell of the American Nazi Party. (…)

According to Marable, jealousy, enmity, pettiness, and corruption poisoned the inner circle of the NOI. He describes NOI officials beating followers as a mode of discipline and demanding increased tithes to pay for personal extravagances, such as luxury automobiles. He maintains that Malcolm X’s marriage to Betty Shabazz was a loveless affair, marked by neglect (his) and infidelity (hers). He claims that “circumstantial but strong evidence” suggests that at least once Malcolm X indulged in a paid homosexual liaison. He confirms Malcolm X’s allegations that Elijah Muhammad, while married, seduced young followers, got them pregnant, and then abandoned them and their children, all the while preaching the virtue of chastity and patriarchal duty.

I note the absence of the word “prone” in this admirable review, however…

Arabs buy Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington

So long, America!

Not a few people were startled when museum officials in Abu Dhabi announced they had paid the Armand Hammer Foundation a hefty undisclosed sum for a Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington. (…)

Americans should be pleased to discover that George Washington can speak to people so distant and different from the world he knew.

Uh, no:

It’s called “booty,” paid for or not.

Your noses are being rubbed in shit.

That you got money for the privilege only makes it worse.

Gavin McInnes on #Rape2K15: ‘I literally created Vice and I’m shocked’

Gavin McInnes writes:

I spoke to a lot of people who were there including the film crew who got the footage for Fox, a Florida pharmacist and a party promoter and when they were done explaining how different this Spring Break is from any other before it, I had to scrape my jaw off the floor with a spatula. Turns out, I was wrong. Spring Break today is nothing like the ones we went to.

The comments are not only interesting, they are non-“JOOOOOO!!!!”-y to boot.
