National Prince Week Day 3 - Prince Carl-Philip
It's #NationalPrinceWeek! Please welcome Kianna's best friend Alexa Fehr as host today.
Alexa: It may be #NationalPrinceWeek here, but author Mary Waibel is touting it as "His Royal Hotness" week. I think I can handle that. :)
Kianna told me to choose my favorite prince. That was a tough call! There's a lot of good looking royalty out there, but I don't necessarily know a lot about any of them. I mean, other than Will and Kate's Wedding of the Decade event, I don't really follow royalty. But if you want to make me peruse good looking men...lol.
My choice is Prince Carl-Philip of Sweden. Dark hair, chiseled jaw, and a smoldering look. I mean really, watch out Flynn Rider, because here comes the smolder!
Is he everything I want in a prince? I have no idea. I have quite the list for my One and Only, but as Kianna said, a girl has dreams. And I say, if you're going to dream, Dream BIG! So for know I can happily imagine my perfect prince from Sweden with all the things I want in a man. For now that's good enough.
Really, can you blame me?
In addition to a really fine looking Royal, here is a few of my fav movies with Princes that also make me swoon!
Ever After - A Cinderella Story PG-13
Prince Henry may be a little immature in the beginning but his path to manhood is a good part of what makes him so swoon worthy.
With the sudden death of her loving father, Danielle is made a servant by her new stepmother. She also has two new stepsisters, one quite kind but the other one really horrid. Still, Danielle grows up to be a happy and strong-willed young lady, and one day her path crosses that of handsome Prince Henry, who has troubles of his own at home. Luckily the nice Leonardo da Vinci is on hand to help all round.
Troy R
Prince Hector is my favorite in this story. He's the kind of man I'd want to find. Especially in the 13th century.
It is the year 1250 B.C. during the late Bronze age. Two emerging nations begin to clash after Paris, the Trojan prince, convinces Helen, Queen of Sparta, to leave her husband, Menelaus, and sail with him back to Troy. After Menelaus finds out that his wife was taken by the Trojans, he asks his brother Agamemnon to help him get her back. Agamemnon sees this as an opportunity for power. So they set off with 1,000 ships holding 50,000 Greeks to Troy. With the help of Achilles, the Greeks are able to fight the never before defeated Trojans. But they come to a stop by Hector, Prince of Troy.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves PG-13
Robin of Loxley isn't the typical prince, but since this tale has always been a favorite of mine. Robin Hood was the bad boy that was really the good boy. Kind of the best of both worlds.
After being captured by Turks during the Crusades, Robin of Locksley and a Moor, Azeem, escape back to England, where Azeem vows to remain until he repays Robin for saving his life. Meanwhile, Robin's father, a nobleman loyal to King Richard the Lionhearted, has been murdered by the brutal Sheriff of Nottingham, who helped install Richard's treacherous brother, Prince John, as king while Richard is overseas fighting the Crusades. When Robin returns home, he vows to avenge his father's death and restore Richard to the throne. Even though Maid Marian, his childhood friend, cannot help him, he escapes to the Forest of Sherwood where he joins a band of exiled villagers and becomes their leader. With their help he attempts to cleanse the land of the evil that the Sheriff has spread.
The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy PG-13
Oh the choices! Legolas or Aragorn? Or how many other choices? Legolas is my favorite, but you just can't go wrong.
Fellowship of the Ring: An ancient Ring thought lost for centuries has been found, and through a strange twist in fate has been given to a small Hobbit named Frodo. When Gandalf discovers the Ring is in fact the One Ring of the Dark Lord Sauron, Frodo must make an epic quest to the Cracks of Doom in order to destroy it! However he does not go alone. He is joined by Gandalf, Legolas the elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Aragorn, Boromir and his three Hobbit friends Merry, Pippin and Samwise. Through mountains, snow, darkness, forests, rivers and plains, facing evil and danger at every corner the Fellowship of the Ring must go. Their quest to destroy the One Ring is the only hope for the end of the Dark Lords reign!
Two Towers: Sauron's forces increase. His allies grow. The Ringwraiths return in an even more frightening form. Saruman's army of Uruk Hai is ready to launch an assault against Aragorn and the people of Rohan. Yet, the Fellowship is broken and Boromir is dead. For the little hope that is left, Frodo and Sam march on into Mordor, unprotected. A number of new allies join with Aragorn, Gimli, Legolas, Pippin and Merry. And they must defend Rohan and attack Isengard. Yet, while all this is going on, Sauron's troops mass toward the City of Gondor, for the War of the Ring is about to begin.
Return of the King: While Frodo & Sam continue to approach Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring, unaware of the path Gollum is leading them, the former Fellowship aid Rohan & Gondor in a great battle in the Pelennor Fields, Minas Tirith and the Black Gates as Sauron wages his last war against Middle-Earth.
If you want to feel extra royal while watching the movie, try adding buttery shortbread cookies and a cup of chai or Earl Gray tea. Yum!

National Prince Week Day 2 - Prince William and More
Welcome back to #NationalPrinceWeek!
This week the cast of #DysfunctionJunction will be sharing all their favorite Prince related novels, movies and more. You don't want to miss a minute of this week long event.
I have Kianna Ravencamp here along with her best friend's Rissa, Alexa and Hope. Kianna, why don't you and the girls tell us the feature for today?
Kianna: I'd love to. The girls and I have been chatting for a while over who would be the best
#PrinceCharming to sweep us off our feet. Wouldn't you know we all have a different idea? I guess that's okay, as long as our prince finally comes. Sometimes I'm not sure that will ever happen, but a girl has dreams.
My favorite go to Prince, based on personality, temperament and overall soft-heart but strong in presence (at least that's how he seems), is Prince William of England. If he's how I see him in my head then I want my prince to be like him. That may seem like too obvious of a choice, but there's a reason so many women swoon over him. His public image is everything Cinderella's Prince Charming should be. Charitable and kind, romantic and loyal, strong and intelligent. Not too shabby to look at either, am I right? :) I don't mind that he's spoken for, because one day I'll find The One for me and he'll be all these things as well. MY perfect prince.

I'm sure my girls will have their own picks of Favorite Prince, but they can tell you about them later in the week. First, I want to tell you about some fun reads that are prince related.
The Mystery Prince by Mary Waibel
Tristan enjoys being in the shadows as Prince Rand's bodyguard. Similar in looks, the two often exchanged places in their youth, but he never expected the king to order him to impersonate the heir to the throne in order to win the hand of a princess.
Princess Zoe needs to find a husband. After a year of searching with no success, her father insists on hosting a masquerade ball for the eligible princes of the nine kingdoms. Not one prince piques her interest, until she meets the mysterious stranger who won't tell her his name.
When Tristan meets Zoe he finds the girl of his dreams. The only problem? She's a princess and he's impersonating a prince―a crime punishable by imprisonment and floggings.
Unable to tell Zoe his real name, he gives her a special navigation device. One that leads to the owner's true love. Will this magic device lead Zoe to Tristan, or will her true love forever remain a mystery prince?
Prince Incognito by Rachelle McCallaA PRINCE WITH NO MEMORYInjured in an attack on the royal motorcade and missing his memory, Alec has one person he can trust. Lillian Bardici, the woman who rescued him. Lily has a soft heart for any hurt creature, but her family has a bitter grudge against Lydia's ruling family-Alec's family. For once his memory returns, Alec knows the truth. He is Prince Alexander, and his family is in danger. All he wants is to find and help them...but now that Alec's found his purpose, will he lose Lily, who's under orders by her family to betray him?
And just for fun, because we all dream of finding our REAL LIFE prince charming...
If the Shoe Fits by Sandra Bricker
Julianne used to believe in fairy tales; she's been watching for Prince Charming to come charging in on his white steed ever since the day her mother read her Cinderella for the first time. But she's never come close to finding the perfect man-instead she's always tripping over her childhood best friend, Will. And who finds their Prince Charming on a 10-speed bicycle on the other side of the cul de sac? Well... Julianne does. Only she doesn't have a clue. She and Will are attorneys now, and they've joined up in private practice in a beautiful Cincinnati office building that overlooks the Ohio River. And then one day Julianne is on her way to court, and runs right smack dab into Prince Charming. But when she looks again, all she finds is a metaphoric sign she is certain came straight from Heaven: The Prince's toolbox has fallen off the back of his truck, and a work boot along with it. What better way for God to grab the attention of a Cinderella-in-training than to show her a glass slipper...errrr, work boot?...waiting to be reunited with its owner? So she sets out to track down the mysterious Prince Charming. He's the most gorgeous guy she's ever seen...and a caring animal rescuer, too. Surely he must be the soul mate God has prepared her for. But, Julianne's prince is starting to look less and less charming all the time. No matter how she tries to romanticize him, he just keeps tumbling down off that dumb pedestal. And with the Bar Association dinner coming up that will honor her for her outstanding charity work over the year, Julianne wants so much for her friends and colleagues to see her with someone besides her best friend Will. To make matters worse, Prince Charming has no designs on wearing a penguin suit and attending a stuffy old dinner. With her pride pressing in on her like sticks from a cactus, Julianne sinks to the bottom of the proverbial barrel and actually offers to pay Paul to be her date.Julianne is on a collision course with God's perfect plan for her life...if only she could open her eyes and see it before it's too late.
Rise and Shine by Sandra Bricker
Shannon Malone thought she'd found her happy ending when she married Edmund Ridgeway, but a diving accident on their honeymoon left her in a coma. Waking up to the news that she's thirty years old would have been daunting enough . . . but she also learns that Edmund has lost his interim battle with cancer and the world has marched on without her. Her gorgeous doctor, Daniel Petros, seems to know everything about her and becomes Shannon's tour guide into a whole new world of madness where reality television has taken over the planet and everyone's life appears to revolve around a tiny screen on their cell phones! As Shannon struggles to navigate through the changes-both in the world and in her-she also must discern real memories from imagined ones. Did she really ever wear capris pants and entertain in her living room, or was that Laura Petrie from her favorite classic TV show? And where is her beloved dog, Freeway? Oh, wait! That was Jonathan and Jennifer Hart's dog, not hers.
Shannon's three elderly aunts flit through her life in true Sleeping Beauty style with her well-being always a priority. And Edmund's sister Millicent descends like the Evil Queen she is, trying to extract Shannon from any claim on the Ridgeway family fortune. When a tornado moves through town and Shannon is knocked unconscious, will Daniel's kiss awaken her once and for all?Check back tomorrow to find out who Alexa Fehr's favorite prince is and more. And be sure to stop by author Mary Waibel's blog to see her selections for Prince Week too.

National Prince Week Day 1 - Prince of Peace
In April we spent a week celebrating princesses around the world - their beauty, culture, talent, history and contributions. I had a blast and the Cast of Dysfunction Junction had a blast hosting it for me. This week, author Mary Waibel is hosting National Prince Week. Several authors are participating in the tour that starts officially on Monday, August 18th. It's bound to be a blast, so be sure and check out Mary's blog as well as the others touring.
I'm very excited to invite the cast of Dysfunction Junction back again to host National Prince Week. They wanted to get an early start with a special bonus post. SO, here you are ladies it's all yours.
Kianna Ravencamp: Welcome everyone! I have my girls Alexis, Rissa and Hope with me and we have a lot to share this week. When choosing our list of royals, it was obvious one prince stood out above the rest.
Jesus Christ - Prince of Peace
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. - Isaiah 9:6 I.V.
Hope Campbell: They call it the Greatest Story Ever Told, only it's more than a story. It's history. This royalty was born in a stable and slept in a manger.
And she brought forth her first-born son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there was none to give room for them in the inns. - Luke 2:7
Rissa Fuller: As he grew into an adult he had an amazing ministry. Walking the streets and preaching, healing, teaching, blessing and comforting. He performed miracles, like the one in the picture below where he healed Jarius' daughter, walked on water, calmed storms, multiplied food and forgave sins.
And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, Arise. And straightway the damsel arose and walked; for she was twelve years old. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. Mark 5:33-34 I.V.
Alexa Fehr: Then at the peak of his ministry, Jesus did something even more incredible. Even though he had never sinned and didn't deserve to die or be punished, he accepted the sins of every person through all of time. That's a lot. He let them beat him and abuse him, hang him on a cross with nails driven through his hands and feet. He hung there in agony and then forgave even the soldiers who had just abused him. His body lay in the tomb for 3 days while he broke the chains of death and then ROSE AGAIN. Permanently. He lives and watches over and loves each one of us personally.
But when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away, (for it was very great,) and two angels sitting thereon, clothed in long white garments; and they were affrighted. But the angels said unto them, Be not affrighted; ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified; he is risen; he is not here; behold the place where they laid him; - Mark 16:3-4 I.V.
Kianna: He cares for each of us as a father or parent would for his child.
What man among you, having a son, and he shall be standing out, and shall say, Father, open thy house that I may come in and sup with thee, will not say, Come in, my son; for mine is thine, and thine is mine? Or what man is there among you, who, if his son ask bread, will give him a stone?Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? - Matthew 7:17-20 I.V.
He Comforts us ...
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. - Psalm 23:4 I.V.
... and holds us up in our darkest hours
I was in the darkest abyss; but now I behold the marvelous light of God. - Mosiah 11:192 Book of Mormon
Listens to all our problems, cares and concerns and gives wisdom
With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding. - Job 12:13 I.V.
And we are so blessed to know that this Prince of Peace is our Savior and God of Heaven. He's not just a story, he's reality and one day soon we'll have the joy and honor of living with him again. Of all the Royals you could want to meet - this is the one you should. He's not a snob, he's not a player, he's not too busy with politics or world affairs to know you personally. He welcomes the opportunity.
Then spake Jesus, saying, Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. - Matthew 11:29 I.V.
No man can come unto me, except he doeth the will of my Father who hath sent me. And this is the will of him who hath sent me, that ye receive the Son; for the Father beareth record of him; and he who receiveth the testimony, and doeth the will of him who sent me, I will raise up in the resurrection of the just. - John 6:44 I.V.
That whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish; but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. – John 3:15-17 I.V.

Canoples Investigations Tackles Space Pirates by KC Sprayberry
Song Stuck on the Brain: Dawning of Aquarius by The 5th Dimension
Welcome author KC Sprayberry!
KC's latest novel,
Canoples Investigations Tackles Space Pirates
is available now!
In honor of this momentous occasion, she and her cast has stopped by to give us all the down low.
Sally Wild of Inside Galaxy is nervous. Sweat beads her forehead. All of her fingers tap a nerve-wracking beat on the table. She stares at the approval ratings for this show and is sick to her stomach. The live feed is abysmal. She has to do something, fix this, so her boss doesn’t yell at her.
To her dismay, Carl Wills returns and straddles the same chair.
Carl: Terry said to tell you that he was on his way. A girl wouldn’t let him go just yet.
Sally: Your interview is finished. Go along, little boy.
Carl: Nah, I think I’ll stick around and see how you handle Terry. This will be good.
Sally: Oh, Inside Galaxy listeners, we are about to corner Terry Ashley with Carl Wills, in our continuing interview with those children from Canoples Investigations. Let me tell you, there is something terribly wrong with this station, if these children had to take on those nasty space pirates.
Terry: Excuse me, sorry I’m late.
Sally, in a conspiratorial whisper: This child is fat! And he has the most awful concoction on his tray. He and Carl are about to eat. How can they put that trash into their mouths? Let’s go find out.
A break while the camera follows Sally powders her nose.Sally: Is this what Canoples Investigations eats now that Gut Buster pizzas have been proven to be fattening?
Carl: Watch it, Terry. She’ll twist your words.
Sally: We’ve done our interview, Carl. I’d appreciate it if you let Terry answer when I’m talking to him.
Terry: This? It’s the Chili Cheese Everything lunch special. Big bowl of chili, monster pile of cheese, and every topping in the universe. We use this for energy.Sally: But doesn’t that unhealthyfood put fat on you. I mean more fat than you already carry.Carl: Back off, Sally. Terry doesn’t like anyone calling him fat.
Terry: Chill, Carl. She’ll learn. Besides, I haven’t sat on anyone for a couple of months. Hey, Sally. That’s your name. Right?
Sally: Yes, my name is Sally. Has your brain suffered from all of this junk you eat?
Terry: First off, I’m not fat. All muscle. (He flexes a muscle) Second, our interview is supposed to be about the space pirates, not teen eating habits. See, we get to eat junk. It helps us stay energized.
Sally: It helps you stay something. I’ll have to figure that out some other time. So, Terry, what was your part in capturing the space pirates? Did you pilot one of the flitters to Jupiter?
Terry: That’s still classified information. Chief Pelham told us we couldn’t talk about that because of the trial next week.
Sally: Are you sure the chief isn’t trying to cover up his own incompetence?
Terry: Chief Pelham incompetent? (Laughs) Not on your best day. He’s the best security chief Canoples has ever had. Nah. He’s not incompetent at all. The chief is only trying to make sure there are no problems at the trial.
Sally: So, you were doing what while your friends were in trouble on Jupiter? Having a Gut Buster? Or some of this Chili Cheese Everything?
Terry: Boy, do you have it wrong. The promenade was closed until a week ago, Sally. Because of the space pirate attack. They blew out the porthole. Canoples Investigations helped everyone evacuate. That was when things got nuts.
Sally: So, where were you when your friends were in trouble? Crying because you couldn’t get any food?
Terry glances at Carl: She’s trying to start a fight. Isn’t she?
Carl: Sure sounds that way. Wanna jet?
Terry: Yeah. Sounds good. I’m not going to answer any more questions, reporter lady who is pretty dumb.
Sally: Those awful boys just ran away and left their mess on the table. That’s a violation. I’m going to find security, if anyone from that inept organization is around. Those boys will spend a week on Fomalhaut and pay a massive fine if I have my…Oh! BD Bradford is with his friends. I’m not supposed to interview him yet, but if that girl, Cassie, isn’t here soon, I might have to go without her. She is rather unreliable. But first, another one of this silly advertisements.
Canoples Investigations Tackles Space PiratesAvailable now!
Excerpt: Five flitters arrow around the massive tetra-flex porthole giving everyone a view of Jupiter and her moons. These are ships capable of seating two to four people for station-to-planet hops. The largest thing in sight, Io, is in synchronous orbit between the station and Jupiter.
Blurb: The biggest worry on BD Bradford's mind is scoring enough creds to snatch a copy of the latest vid-game. He's set on getting his girl to stop glaring at him, until Space Pirates make their presence known. Thrown into a day without end, BD and his team can't do anything right, until faced with an impossible situation.

CFBA: In the Field of Grace by Tessa Afshar
Song Stuck on the Brain: Let Us Shake Off the Coals of Our Garments (hymn)
This week, the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducing:
In The Field of Grace River North; New Edition edition (July 1, 2014)by Tessa Afshar
MY TAKE:
Tessa Afshar is back with another hit. YAY! If you're a follower of my blog, you're familiar with this author because I've reviewed and raved about every one of her books. I'm very particular about my Bible fiction. It's a careful balance between retelling the story in precise detail and filling in the details with history and fictional license without changing anything or leaving anything out. Add to it that it needs to be enticing, entertaining and captivating. A balance between drama and hope. Tessa does it all. She has a gift for story telling that allows me to step into the pages of the Bible and relive history in detail all while feeling I learned something new and enlightening in my relationship with Jesus.
Ruth's story is one of my favorites, but I always wondered why her story had so much to share that she got her own book. Obviously there are genealogical connections and other things that make her story important, but Tessa shines a light on Ruth and brings her into a new perspective that really opened up her story to me. It's beautiful. My mom has already read it and loved it and now my 17 year old niece is reading it. This is a book for all ages. Don't miss out.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Destitute, grief-stricken, and unwanted by the people of God, Ruth arrives in Israel with nothing to recommend her but Naomi's, love. Her loftiest hope is to provide enough food to save Naomi and herself from starvation.
But God has other plans for her life. While everyone considers Ruth an outcast, she is astounded to find one of the most honored men of Judah showing her favor. Long since a widower and determined to stay that way, Boaz is irresistibly drawn to the foreign woman with the haunted eyes. He tells himself he is only being kind to his Cousin Naomi's chosen daughter when he goes out of his way to protect her from harm, but his heart knows better.
Based on the biblical account of Ruth, In the Field of Grace is the story of a love that ultimately changes the course of Israel's destiny and the future of the whole world.
If you would like to read the first chapter of In The Field of Grace, go HERE.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
TESSA AFSHAR was voted "New Author of the Year" by the Family Fiction sponsored Reader's Choice Award 2011 for her novel Pearl in the Sand. She was born in Iran, and lived there for the first fourteen years of her life. She moved to England where she survived boarding school for girls and fell in love with Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte, before moving to the United States permanently. Her conversion to Christianity in her twenties changed the course of her life forever. Tessa holds an MDiv from Yale University where she served as co-chair of the Evangelical Fellowship at the Divinity School. She has spent the last thirteen years in full-time Christian work.

CFBA: Firewall by DiAnn Mills
Song Stuck on the Brain: Mama He's Crazy by the Judds
This week, the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducing:
Firewall Tyndale House Publishers, Inc. (July 1, 2014)by DiAnn Mills
MY TAKE:
DiAnn Mills is a master at building suspense and plucking the heartstrings all while keeping it in a perfect whirlwind, ninety or nothing, supercharged balance. Did that make sense? LOL If you're not sure pick up Firewall and you'll see what I mean. It starts with a bang and never stops. I loved it. I especially enjoyed the well timed spiritual comments that struck a chord but didn't weigh down the story. Oh, and Buddy. Just wait until you meet Buddy. He may be my favorite hero second to Agent Grayson Hall.
I loaned this one to my mom and she had it back to me in less than 2 days. She said, "That was intense! Do you have any other books by her?" Oh yeah, you bet I do! :) Neither of us can wait for more from DiAnn Mills. Don't miss out on the action, check out Firewall A.S.A.P.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
After a whirlwind romance, Taryn Young is preparing to board a plane at Houston International Airport, bound for a dream honeymoon, when a bomb decimates the terminal. Injured but still alive, she awakens to discover her husband is missing and they’re both considered prime suspects in the attack. Further, the FBI is convinced her husband isn’t who he appears to be.
Agent Grayson Hall’s number-one priority is to catch those responsible for the day’s act of terror. All evidence is pointing to Taryn and her new husband. But his instinct tells him her pleas of innocence are genuine. Is her naiveté just for show, or could she truly be another victim of a master scheme, possibly linked to the software she recently developed for her company?
With both their lives and reputations on the line, and the media outcry for justice increasing with each passing minute, Taryn and Grayson have no choice but to trust one another . . . and pray they can uncover the truth before they become two more casualties.
If you would like to read the first chapter of Firewall, go HERE.

CFBA: Rival Hearts by Tara Randel
This week, the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducing:
Rival Hearts
Abingdon Press (June 17, 2014)by
Tara Randel
MY TAKE:
The book blurb had me hooked long before it ever arrived in the mail. I don't care if it does sound like a predictable chick-flick plot. I LIKE chick-flicks. Especially really good ones. Plot concept is as brilliant and fun as the writer that uses it. In this case, Tara Randel did a great job! Molly and Ben's competitive natures get them both into places they wish they'd thought about twice, but they keep going. Their determination to keep love at bay and avoid what they have between them gets them into a few sticky places too. Working for one another is easy compared to falling in love.
Rival Hearts is a great read, weaving fun and romance with heart and faith.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
Molly Henderson and Ben Weaver have been rival magazine writers for the same publishing group for years. When both come up for the same promotion, they find themselves in an unexpected competition to win the spot. Molly, editor of Quilter’s Heart, and Ben, editor of Outdoor Adventures, must switch roles, each working for the other for one month, then submit an article at the end of their quests. Can girly-girl Molly survive the outdoor adventures that Ben has planned? Can Ben navigate the perils of the social dynamics of quilting events without destroying a valuable quilt in one short month? More importantly, in this he-said, she-said situation, will Molly and Ben give in to their attraction and fall in love, no matter who wins?
If you would like to read the first chapter of Rival Hearts, go HERE.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Tara Randel has enjoyed a lifelong love of books, especially romance and mystery genres, so it didn't come as a surprise when she began writing with the dream of becoming published. After finding Romantic Times magazine in a bookstore many years ago, she found information about writing organizations. Soon after, she joined Romance Writers of America. She located the local RWA chapter and immediately attended her first meeting. There was no stopping her after that! Through Tampa Area Romance Authors, Tara learned all about the business of publishing, starting with the craft of writing to behind the scenes of publishing. She served as contest coordinator for four years and served as President for one year, enjoying the organization and the lasting friendships made there.
When not writing, Tara owns a business with her husband and stays busy with her two daughters. She lives on the West Coast of Florida, where gorgeous sunsets inspire the creation of heartwarming stories, filled with love, laughter and the occasional mystery. Enjoy!

CFBA: Yankee in Atlanta by Jocelyn Green
Song Stuck on the Brain: I Wanna Be Like You from The Jungle Book
This week, the Christian Fiction Blog Alliance is introducing:
Yankee in Atlanta
River North(June 1, 2014)by
Jocelyn Green
MY TAKE:
As much as I was looking forward to this book, it never arrived. *pout* The publishers must have had something come up to delay the delivery. I'm sorry, I know this is two in a row, but we all know there is no controlling the mail delivery. If the book ever arrives, I will post a review. In the mean while, please enjoy a peek at the book to come.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
When soldier Caitlin McKae woke up in Atlanta after being wounded in battle, the Georgian doctor who treated her believed Caitlin's only secret was that she had been fighting for the Confederacy disguised as a man. In order to avoid arrest or worse, Caitlin hides her true identity and makes a new life for herself in Atlanta. Trained as a teacher, she accepts a job as a governess to the daughter of Noah Becker, a German immigrant lawyer, who is about to enlist with the Rebel army. Then in the spring of 1864, Sherman's troops edge closer to Atlanta. Caitlin tries to escape north with the girl, but is arrested on charges of being a spy. Will honor dictate that Caitlin follow the rules, or love demand that she break them?
If you would like to read the first chapter of Yankee in Atlanta, go HERE.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Jocelyn Green is a child of God, wife and mom living in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She is also an award-winning journalist, author, editor and blogger.
Will honor dictate that Caitlin follow the rules, or love demand that she break them?If you would like to read the first chapter of Yankee in Atlanta, go HERE.

Undetected by Dee Henderson
Song Stuck on the Brain: I'm Not Who I Was by Brandon Heath
Undetected by Dee Henderson MY TAKE: Dee Henderson has a new book! YAY! *squeal*
Okay, now that I've got that out of my system (maybe), let's talk. Undetected is the sequel to Unspoken - Commander Mark Bishop is the brother of Bryce Bishop. I always prefer to read books in order, but this could be read independently. Although, why would you want to miss a Dee Henderson novel?
I'm always amazed at how well Dee is able to get into the unique inner parts of a person/character. Even when the character is nothing like me, somehow I still identify with them in some personal way because she's revealed a very spiritual and human side of their nature. That is a gift. Couple that with her talent to tell a story and teach but not preach - well - wow.
In Undetected, Gina Gray is a brilliant woman. I'm talking genius level. That is not me, I may be intelligent, but not genius. But I think I connected with Gina more than any other character so far. I understood her insecurities and fears. I think most people will in some way. What I really connected with though, was her view of creation and nature. Her way of seeing everything with such wonder and curiosity matches my own outlook so much, that I was excited to see it reflected in someone else to the extreme that I sensed it in Gina.
Mark is the perfect guy in the sense that he's a perfect fit for Gina. He's a protector and that's attractive. He's also strong, loyal, and a man of faith. Even more attractive.
As a side note, I noticed in the reviews from others on-line after reading the first book, Unspoken, that many readers were complaining that these new books didn't have the same suspense as her earlier books. Some even made snide comments about false advertising or having lost her touch. Shame on them! She's most certainly not lost her talent. There is a different feel to these new novels. I would say they should be classified more as Christian Romance/General Fiction. Sure there is a suspense background to the story line, but the focus has shifted to the characters and their relationships. To the lives they live and what makes them who they are. The publisher needs to make that more clear in their marketing (author not at fault). It may be different in tone from her early novels but in no way are they less worthy!
The research is just as detailed and fascinating as well. I will never have a chance to be on a submarine, but after reading Undetected, I feel like I've been there and seen it in technicolor. I enjoy the details, learning new things and delving into characters lives and relationships. Tension and suspense is great, but not mandatory. All writers grow and their writing grows and changes with them.
So be prepared, this may not be the intense suspense you remember from the O'Malley series, but it's still a fantastic read that's hard to put down.
Great job, Dee! Looking forward to your next work. ABOUT THE BOOK:
When asked what he does for a living Commander Mark Bishop is deliberately low-key: "I'm in the Navy." But commanding the ballistic missile submarine USS Nevada, keeping her crew trained and alert during ninety-day submerged patrols, and being prepared to launch weapons on valid presidential orders, carries a burden of command like few other jobs in the military. Mark Bishop is a man who accepts that responsibility, and handles it well. And at a time when tensions are escalating around the Pacific Rim, the Navy is glad to have him.
Mark wants someone to come home to after sea patrols. The woman he has in mind is young, with a lovely smile, and very smart. She's a civilian, yet she understands the U.S. Navy culture. And he has a strong sense that life with her would never be boring. But she may be too deep in her work to see the potential in a relationship with him.
Gina Gray would love to be married. She has always envisioned her life that way. A breakup she didn't see coming, though, has her focusing all her attention on what she does best--ocean science research. She's on the cusp of a major breakthrough, and she needs Mark Bishop's perspective and help. Because what she told the Navy she's figured out is only the beginning. If she's right, submarine warfare is about to enter a new and dangerous chapter.... Read the First Chapter Here . ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
