Signed Books, Doodled Books, First Edition Books….

We here onthe Worldbuilders team know you guys like to hear stories about the people Heifer International is working with. Stories like the one Pat shared in yesterday’s blog.

We love these stories too. In fact, we published a calendar full of them for 2014.

Tons of Signed Books

We (the Worldbuilders Team) andPat know you guys like to hear some real life stories about the people Heifer International is helping. We love ‘em. We even published a 2014 calendar chock full of ‘em.

Of course, some of you won’t be swayed to give to Heifer by sweet stories alone. You want hard facts and numbers. And we can absolutely respect that. We actually encourage folks to check their facts instead of blindly throw their money at something. So here’s some information from the Journal of...

More Awesome Games

Hey there everybody,

Before we show off today’s goodies. I’d like to share a little tidbit about Heifer.

The thing is, I talk about Heifer in general terms a lot, but I don’t often give specifics. And specifics are the meat of the thing. What’s where the real stories are.

Heifer International does a lot more than just give livestock to people. In Uganda, for example, the village of Bhairav isflooded every year, making it impossible for children to travel to schools that are far away.

This is a pro...

Concerning Cake, Bilbo Baggins, and Charity

So a couple days ago I did an AMA on Reddit.

It was fun. I enjoy goofing off, interacting with my readers, and answering questions. So this sort of thing is a good fit for me.

Kvothe pants

The day after the AMA, I went back in to see if I’d missed any particularly important/interesting/clever questions.

And I found one. A really good question.

I started to answer it. Then I kept answering it. Then I realized I’d written about 400 words and stopped myself from going any further.…

So rather than post my answer t...

Even More Manuscript Critiques and Guest Appearances

Well folks, we’re in the last two weeks of Worldbuilders, and we’ve got a lot of things to show you before the end.

First off, at our last count, we’re already giving away more than 1,500 books in our prize lottery.

ShelfJanuary

A lot of those books are signed, limited edition, or otherwise rare. And we’re not even counting the books we’ll be announcing over the next couple weeks.

So remember that for every ten bucks you donate to Heifer International on our team page, you not only make the world a better pl...

Tons of Books from Del Rey

Today’s blog comes again from the Worldbuilders Team, and everyone in the office is still basking in the glow of the stretch goals we posted up recently. If you haven’t seen them yet, you can see our cool slider full of them here…

We’re pretty proud of it. And as of right now we’re at $290,000, so we’re perilously close to our next stretch goal.

Either way, we thought we’d remind you of one of the added benefits of donating to help us reach those stretch goals: the awesome books you can win in...

Worldbuilders Does Something for the Kids

Here at Worldbuilders, we work hard to help kids all over the world.

In both senses of the word. Sometimes kids need a goat. Sometimes kids need a book.

Today’s blog features the awesome children’s books we’ve gotten for the fundraiser. Some are lottery, a few are auction, and a couple are also available in The Tinker’s Packs. But you’ll have to be quick – there are only a few of those.

Stretch Goals Past and Stretch Goals Yet To Come….

Hey there everybody,

We’re entering the final stretch of the Worldbuilders. And in case you don’t make a habit of checking the Worldbuilders News page, or following us on facebook or twitter, I thought I’d take a moment to talk about one of the newer things we’ve been doing this year.

I’m talking about our Stretch Goals, of course.

As I write this, geeks of all creeds and nations have banded together to raise $274,000 dollars, which means we’ve unlocked ten Stretch Goals and we’re closing in fas...

Valyrian Steel – Westeros Weaponry

Worldbuilders-Logo_Web_Smaller

This is a Worldbuilders blog.

Well folks, today we’re launching a handful of charity auctions that are designed to appeal to all you George R. R.Martin fans out there…

You see, the folks over at Valyrian Steel have stepped up to the plate and donated a bunch of offical Game of Thrones swag: collectible swords, shields, and statues.

Nearly everything here is limited edition. And some of the items have as few as 500 available in the world. Because of this, we’re auctioning off everything in this b...

175K Stretch Goal – Music with Vi Hart

When I started Worldbuilders, my main goal was getting people to donate books. I’ve always considered that the heart of the fundraiser, and I spent a lot of time approaching authors and publishers, trying to bring them onboard.

But these days that’s not a problem any more. We’ve got a lot of authors who send us stuff every year. We’ve got publishers and collectors and bookstores that send us hundreds of books. Signed stuff. Rare stuff. Out of print stuff.

If I had to guess, I’d say this year we...
