New Additions to the family….
We have a few new additions to the family that have come in over the last couple months, so I thought I'd share them here.
This one is really new, and just showed up a couple weeks ago. It's the Taiwanese translation of The Name of the Wind.
As always, it's more than a little baffling for [...]

On the Ambiguity of Gods and The Dangers of Stew
So a while back Tor.com posted up a poll asking readers to vote on what they considered the best Sci-fi and Fantasy novels of the last decade.
Imagine my delight when The Name of the Wind came in #3 in the top 10, right behind Scalzi's Old Man's War and Gaiman's American Gods.
Imagine my further delight [...]

Fanmail FAQ: Where is the Store?
Since I posted up the video interviews with Peter on Friday, I received a dozen e-mails centering around the topic of his Eolian t-shirt.
Some people merely wanted to express their geeky joy at the sight of his shirt. Some people proclaimed terrible envy. Some people asked if I'd ever thought of getting t-shirts like that [...]

Interview with Peter Orullian
While I was on tour, I did quite a few interviews, but because I was so busy with the tour itself, I never had a chance to post any of them up here on the blog.
The most elaborate of these was a interview I did with Peter Orullian out in Seattle. He had three cameras [...]

Comics and Cameos
So during the madness of the book tour, some cool things happened online. Things I would have liked to geek out about in a proper fashion here on the blog if only I'd had the time.
Unfortunately, for the vast majority of that month, I was too busy to get a full night's sleep, let alone [...]

Photo Contest: Final Call.
So over the last several weeks, entries for the photo contest have been pouring in.
Well… that's not exactly true. "Pouring in" overstates the case a bit. There hasn't been a deluge or anything. It's been more like a slow, steady stream of submissions.
But if I say entries have been "streaming in", that overstates the case, [...]

Favorite Quotes….
So the other day someone asked me what my favorite quote was from The Wise Man's Fear. I stopped to think about it. And thought.
And thought.
It took me a long while to think of any quotes at all from the book. Which seems odd to me, as I've spent the better part of the last [...]

The beginings of story…
First, an announcement. I'm going to be doing a little reading/signing in Waupaca tomorrow. Friday the 6th.
Details on the tour page or on the Facebook event here.
Second, a story.
It's a story about stories, actually. That hopefully shouldn't come as a huge surprise to anyone here….
These days, little Oot has all sorts of words. The [...]

Retro Kvothe?
So my UK publisher, Gollancz, is having its 50th anniversary.
In celebration, they're holding a poll/contest… thinger.
Let me explain more clearly than that.
They've picked 50 of their top novels from the last 50 years. 25 in fantasy and 25 in science fiction. Flatteringly enough, The Name of the Wind made that list.

My brain….
As I mentioned before I took a recent trip to Iowa City because Nancy Andreasen wanted to take a picture of my brain. She's a Big Deal neurophysician who's doing research into how the brains of creative folk do their big, weird think-makings.
The plan was for me to go in, get my brain scanned, have [...]
