Three months ago, I was a cocky high school graduate. I had it all—a Cessna University baseball scholarship, a beautiful girlfriend, and a bright future. Everything I wanted, I got. Despite the circumstances, most people deemed me lucky. But if what they say is true, then I’m a lucky bastard who can’t enjoy any of it. Not now. Not when this burden, I carry cuts deep, and the crushing weight of guilt snuffs any excitement from being here. There’s no camouflaging the darkness hiding beneath the surface—the ugly truth I’m not willing to admit to anyone, including myself. But I don’t want pity. I don’t deserve it. No, that empathy is reserved for others more deserving. Because when it’s all said and done, I got off easy. And that part only solidifies the real reason haunting me.

Swinging Strike News!
Hello!
How has your summer been going? I can't believe this is September already. Every time I think where did the month go, I feel like I'm turning into my grandma. But she was right after all. Time does go by quickly.
We've had a busy summer. So much so, I forgot to send out an August newsletter. I apologize for the delay in the update. Believe me, I spent every free minute I had typing frantically to finish this story. I'm surprised my hubby hasn't made a sign saying "pay attention to me!" Although, he does verbalize it. LOL.
Since the youngest went back to school, I'm an empty nester again.
Now to get some more words down on paper! It's amazing how much more productive I am when no one is around. :)
Now for the best part!
I'm soooo excited to say Swinging Strike's rough draft is done! I'm currently going over it and then will send it my trusty beta readers before editing. Long story short, it still has some time before I can even think about a release date. Also, I wanted to get book two written in case I need to make any changes to the story setting.
This is my largest book written to date. Setting up the college campus and introducing the characters took some time and words. But I cannot wait for you all to meet the gang! I'm so in love with these characters.
Especially, Braxton and Cara.
Braxton exudes confidence with just the right amount of cockiness that I adore. He's thoughtful and fights hard to convince Cara to take a chance on him. Cara is driven and loyal. She's definitely the friend you want in your corner.

July Updates
Hello, July,
Do you remember the first time you opened your paycheck and thought...where'd my money go? LOL. Well...my son got a taste of reality a couple of weeks ago. Since he's home for the summer, I made him apply to several places. The first place to hire him was the donut shop. I thought I'd be in big trouble (or at least my hips) with that one, but then he got hired at the county preserve that offered way more hours. When he received his first paycheck, I wish I had filmed him opening it. It was rather comical to see his shock, followed by a "this can't be right. It's too short." I laughed and welcomed him to the wonderful world of paying taxes. LOL.
The end is getting closer for Swinging Strike. If I had a progress bar, it'd read 74%. Woot! I'm so in love with these characters and can't wait to share them with you. Do I say that a lot? I feel as if I say that a lot, but it's so true. They're stealing my heart. I'm hoping to have the rough draft done by the next newsletter and then share some small excerpts.
In other news, the talented Addison Barnes is narrating Unexpected Love. She has already sent the first couple chapters, and I'm in love! The story is really coming alive. I can't wait to hear the finished project. I'll keep you updated on the progress.
