Thank You Segilola Salami from a newly Published Author
Hello all.
On Friday (March 4 2016) I had the privilege of being interviewed by Segilola Salami on her podcast all the way from London.
She is quite a delight to talk to. And she is funny. It truly felt like an hour with a friend. She makes you feel relaxed while learning about your work.
I would encourage any new writers out there looking for more exposure, to contact her and schedule to be featured on her show.
Time to get back to the grind.
Hostis Humani Generis is due out in a couple weeks and I plan to be ready.
Until next time.
Be well.

The Anti-Life Manifesto (The Prequel to Book Two)
My name is Rex Talion and I am going to destroy the world.
It is going to be just the opposite of that T.S. Elliot poem. The world is going to end with a bang, and I will be the one to fire the shot heard throughout the universe.
I am filled with hate.
Hate is the most powerful emotion of all, and the only one that matters in the universe. I have tapped into its energy, and I will use it to fuel my determination and my intellect.
I am the world’s richest man and I have supernatural allies who have the power to level a galaxy.
I have the means, motive, and opportunity and nothing is going to stop me.
Nothing.
When I was a child, the world tried everything in its power to kill me.
It began when my biological mother inexplicitly abandoned me at birth. For that reason I hate her without knowing her. I do not know where my real mother is, but it is of no consequence, because if she still lives, she will die alongside of everyone else on this planet shortly. It was because of her that I ended up living with Richard and Mary Thurmond, two of the most sadistic, abusive parents who ever existed.
The Thurmonds beat me every day until I bled. They locked me in my room day and night without heat in the winter or cool in the summer. I took my meals with no utensils and I was forced to use my closet as a toilet while they screamed obscenities at me from the other side of the door.
I wondered what I had done to them to make them so hateful toward me. I thought if I was so terrible, so evil of a child, perhaps I did not deserve to live. But I decided it was not up to me to take my own life. They were my parents. They gave me life (or so I thought at the time) and it was their right to end it.
The Thurmond’s must have been frustrated with me because I remained alive. Or maybe they thought I needed to suffer some more. It does not matter because they gave me my own personal servant.
Stegman.
This man introduced me to a different kind of suffering.
Calling that filth a pedophile does not do him justice. How many years did he use me as his own sex toy? It got to the point where I actually looked forward to his “visits” because I knew there I would get some relief from the daily beatings by the Thurmonds. When Stegman’s “love” became unbearable, I longed for the whippings from my so called parents again.
With nowhere to go, once I learned to read I turned to the only book allowed in my room. I actually believed the things it said. The power of prayer. Miracles. God protecting the innocent and the weak. I waited for him to come down to rescue me from all the evil.
I waited and I waited.
Then I waited some more.
Nothing happened.
The pain and misery increased, but I endured. I endured and became stronger. Eventually my resolve and my strength caught the attention of the monsters that roam this planet.
Degans.
They told me my life, my world, and the entire universe is built on lies. They told me the blurred lines between good and evil are only a matter of perspective. They told me there is no God. Only a power hungry being called Yar who pretended to be one. They told me I can use all the terrible things that happened to me and become the most powerful human who ever lived.
I believed everything they told me.
They gave me their mark and I set out to become what they said I could become.
It was not easy, but I perfected my mind and body. Fortunately, the Thurmond’s were billionaires and their money went to me after their deaths. With my wealth and assets, I did become the most powerful man who ever lived. But I could not let it end there. No.
There had to be more. I was too angry.
I still am.
This world has to pay for all the things it did to me. The abuse, the misery and the lies. I decided the cycle of life on this planet must end once and for all.
I learned there are more monsters out there than just the Degans, and many of them feel as I do. They, too, hate this world and want to see it end.
I have bonded with these beings and we formed a group.
The Quid Pro Quo.
Together we are going to destroy Earth.
But first, I am going to make every living soul on this planet feel as I did on those cold, dark nights, waiting for the next horrific thing to happen to me. They will look up at the sky for hope, but they will only see darkness. They will pray for a miracle and be greeted with death.
The beauty of all of this is many will recognize the things as they happen. They will open up to the last chapter in the bible and icy fear will overwhelm them. They will convince themselves that it will turn out good for them, that they will win in the end. They will clutch the book of lies as I once did as a child. The difference between me and them is that I will live. I will do what no other could. I will give the masses famine, disease, war, and when they cannot bear it any longer, when they are ready to peel the flesh from their bones to make it all stop, I will give them death with all of the malice I can muster.
They will die.
All of them. I will endure, and I will be their destroyer.
I have studied every great leader, conqueror, and despot who received the Degan mark in exhausting detail. I know them better than they knew themselves. Julius Caesar was generous to his enemies. Alexander the Great was the greatest conqueror the world had ever seen, but he openly desired peace. Genghis Khan failed to see the full picture. The man refused to spread his empire beyond Asia. Napoleon was a brilliant tactician who allowed his passions to be whipped up into such a frenzy that it ultimately led him to get careless on the battlefield. Adolph Hitler was charismatic and powerful but he craved positive reinforcement with every breath he took. He allowed his need for attention to fuel his paranoia and prejudice to unbalance his perspective. All of it led to his undoing. These insecurities and weaknesses are things that do not plague me.
I am strong where they were weak. Where they were strong, I am even stronger.
I have spent years perfecting my plan and it will be executed with subtlety and expert precision. And it will all be done from my office at Talion Industries.
I will use my wealth to aid the masses. I will gain their trust by solving the world’s petty problems. Poverty, unemployment, and lack of healthcare will become things of the past. The have-nots will begin to have. The disenfranchised will be a part of society once more. All of this will thrust me into the limelight. The people will want to see me, hear me, and as much as I loathe it, touch me. They will want to know about me, my origins and my motivations for doing these things. I will give them what they want and they will love me for it. They will give me awards and adoration which I will humbly receive.
All of this will be done in the light, while in the shadows I will be planting the seeds for their destruction.
I have begun to ally myself with all the greedy men throughout the world who seek power. I will make them even richer and they too will foolishly love me for it. Together we will form a power block that will eclipse any that has gone before.
It will be called the New World Quorum.
The Quorum will control the world’s commerce, economy, religion, and medicine. No country will be allowed to go to war without our permission. The flow of information through print and electronic media will be circulated by us. Nothing will reach the public that is not approved by the group.
The Brotherhood of Death, Freemasons, Mafias around the world, the Templars, and even the Second Vatican Council will have no choice but to fall in line under my leadership.
Those that do not will die. Anyone who gives the slightest hint of opposition will be eliminated. It is that simple.
They are only a collection of humans while I have the Quid Pro Quo and thousands of Degans at my disposal.
Two groups. The New World Quorum and the Quid Pro Quo. Both run by me. The one with humans will be used to control the world, and the other with the assemblage of monsters will destroy it.
I am aware of the special individuals charged with safeguarding this planet. The Quid Pro Quo has spoken often of them. Only they have the will and the might to oppose me. I have already developed a plan to remove them as a threat. They have no idea what I am doing and they will never see me coming until it is too late.
I will not fail. It has been preordained. I am the one in the Codex Gigas that fulfills the Degan prophesy. The third and final great evil. The human who will pave the way for the Discarded One.
The world will experience Nirvana and then the Great Divide. I will follow those events with the Day of Reckoning and the Twilight. Phase One will come to fruition by 2016 and will conclude with Phase Two in the year 2020.
Earth will not live to see another year after 2020. I am the anti-life for all those on the planet. I am death with a smile. The helping hand that carries a dagger, and after Earth is laying in smoldering ruins, I will unleash my hatred on the rest of the universe.

David Gallie Indie Author Interview
A special thanks to David Gallie for allowing me to speak on such enjoyable topics.
Next up to take their place on the interview chair is indie author Ethan Howard. Read on to find out what makes him write:
Why do you write?
It is truly a passion. A great way to express myself and release that inner child. From the very first time I started putting words on the screen, I discovered how much I truly enjoy it. It always allows me to challenge myself mentally in ways I never thought possible. I have no plans of ever stopping.
When did you decide to become a writer?
I had come home from a tour in the Middle East. It was 2009 and I caught up on Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and reread short stories from the great Richard Matheson lying on the beach in San Diego. I wanted to try to be at least a fraction of the literary artist these men were/are.
What genre are your books?
Science fiction and fantasy.
What draws you to this genre?
There is a certain freedom with this genre. True escapism. You can explore several different concepts and get away with bending laws of physics and reality.
What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?
It was my wife. She told me that it was time to stop talking and start doing. She said I had always been a man of action and decisiveness, so why hadn’t I done anything. I told her of some of my story concepts and she said, “Great. I cannot wait to read them.”
Do you write full-time or part-time?
I write part-time. After spending time with my family, I use late Saturday nights as my time to write.
Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?
I have discovered that I am far better at night writing than the day. The later the better.
How do you think you’ve evolved creatively?
I talk to other writers. I read their stories. I review them. By doing so, I have become better. I use the wisdom of others to better myself. There is so much good stuff out there, I feel I improve each time I read someone else’s work.

What have you written?
Tales of the Unexpected (an anthology of short horror stories) Published 2013.
Sidereus Nuncius (Book One of the Opportvnvs Adest series) Published October 2015.
Hostis Humani Generis (Book Two of the Opportvnvs Adest series) due out March 20, 2016.
Temet Nosce (Book Three of the Opportvnvs Adest series) due out April 20th 2016.
Finis Omnium Reum (Book Four of the Opportvnvs Adest series) due out May 20, 2016.
Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just seeing where an idea takes you?
I always work with an outline first. I have hand written notes with names and personalities of the characters. I also do research on any particular area of the world or subject I am writing on. I outline the chapters almost like scenes in a movie. I do this before I even start writing. I find it makes things much easier for me.
How do you market your books?
Social Media.
Book signings at local bookstores.
Is there any marketing technique you used that had an immediate impact on your sales figures?
I had a book launch party at a friend’s house. My wife is an excellent cook so she made the food and it was a smashing success.
Did you make any marketing mistakes or is there anything you would avoid in the future?
Absolutely. I feel that I should have done a better job on social media as I was crafting my first story.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Never, ever stop writing. Do not do it for money because it may not ever come. Do it because you love it. Be willing to accept criticism. Learn from it and do not let it deflate you.
Give us an insight into your main character. What does he do that is so special?
At the heart of the Opportvnvs Adest story is a man called Quentin. In Sidereus Nuncius you learn he is from the stars with a mission to save the planet Earth. He is noble, thoughtful, and a warrior with restraint. It all sounds simple enough until things unfold and we see there is much more to this being than even HE imagined. Throughout the story, he is on a journey of self-discovery that will take him to dark places. The question to be answered is, can this powerful being return from the abyss and complete the task given to him?
Where do your ideas come from?
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Greek/Roman/Norse Mythology
Grimm’s Fairy Tales
Twilight Zone
Outer Limits
What is the hardest thing about writing?
Stopping and going to bed.
What was the hardest thing about writing your latest book?
Patience. I know exactly where it is all going so I have to use patience getting there. Sometimes I just wanted to skip parts and get right to the revelations. There are many twists and turns to the story so it is important to leave the proper foreshadowing (or breadcrumbs) so the reader does not feel cheated.
Which writers inspire you?
Alan Moore
Richard Matheson
Ernest Hemmingway
Stan Lee
H.G. Wells
Ray Bradbury
Washington Irving
Henry James
I guess I should stop there.
What do you do to get book reviews?
I beg. Seriously, I ask on various media forums.
How successful has your quest for reviews been so far?
It has brought fair results. Folks who have gone to my books have put a few on Amazon and Goodreads. The sales far exceed the reviews. I am still searching for a better way.
What is the current book you are promoting?
Sidereus Nuncius. Even though I want to say Hostis Humani Generis is due out in a few weeks.
Who is your favorite character in your book and why?
Quentin. I can relate to him on the level of having gone on missions for the military. I found myself questioning the purpose of it all but still loyal to the cause. Like Quentin, I did a lot of soul searching.
Who is your least favorite character and why?
Rex Talion. He is pure evil and he just might be the worst bastard in the history of literature!
If your book were made into a movie, who would you cast?
Quentin: Idris Elba
Regina Tate: Rachel Weisz
Rex Talion: Billy Zane
Dante Tate: Take your pick of a 12 year old (African American) male actor
What is your next project?
The Anti-Life Manifesto. It is an 8-page story that leads directly to Hostis Humani Generis (Book Two of the Opportvnvs Adest series), which focuses on the rise of Rex Talion, the villain of the series. The Manifesto gives you a snapshot into the motivations of Rex Talion. It is written from Talion’s perspective and gives you a glimpse into the mind of this madman.
I just finished it up and have sent it out to people for free. The reaction I have gotten so far has been: “Holy crap! You weren’t kidding about Rex Talion! What a bastard!” It even shocked my wife.
Who is your favorite fictional character and why?
Heracles from Greek Mythology. He was fearless in the face of danger. He had a sense of honor and was uncompromising when it came to completing a task.
What one person from history would you like to meet and why?
John F. Kennedy. He made such an impact on the world in a short time.
If there was one thing you could do to change the world, what would it be?
Homelessness. Everyone should have a safe haven to go to at the end of the day.
Who inspires your writing?
The little boy in me.
Where do you come up with your stories?
The wonderment of what is beyond Earth. I try to make sense of all the questions I have had since I was child.
Who is your favorite author?
There are just too many to name. If am forced to give one, I will say Alan Moore.
What is one great lesson you have learned as a writer?
It is grind. If you want eyes on your book you have to hustle and even then there is no guarantee to getting a positive or negative response.
Tell us something unique about you
I listen to alternative and nu metal to write. Smashing Pumpkins, Godsmack, Deftones, Crossfade, CKY, Sevendust are just a few. Good stuff. Something about the music brings out the odd, creative side to me.
How can readers discover more about you and your work?
Come to my blog or email me directly. I enjoy dialogue on a variety of subjects.
Email: ethan@ethanhowardauthor.com
Thank you for allowing me to share this with all of you. See you back here soon when I release the Anti-Life Manifesto for all to read.
Peace.

The end product is always worth it because you know you have put so much into it.
Time to get back to it.
Oh, a thank you to those who PM me about the Anti-Life Manifesto. Glad you enjoyed it even if it was a first hand look into the face of pure evil.
Anyone else out there wanting it, contact me with email and I will send it your way.
That’s all for now.
Peace.

Q & A with a Writer
Hello there.
I wanted to share the interview I had with a San Diego Neighborhood Book Signing.David Russell, Oracle Project Manager spearheaded the event and this an excerpt from the question & answer session.
Thank you, David.
Ethan Howard Q & A:
Q1. Ethan can you tell us what character is most like yourself?
Q1. Without a doubt it would be Quentin. He is a man who questions his duty and purpose throughout the series. He is sent on a mission and conflicted if he should actually be doing the things he is asked to do. As a member of the Armed Forces, I have had those same thoughts creep into my head from time to time during assignments.
Q2. Who has inspired you the most to be a writer?
Q2. There are too many to list but since you asked for just one, I will say Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen finally pushed me to sit down at my computer and start writing. In addition to being a an excellent writer, Moore is also a student of literature and history. I was amazed at how much detail he puts into his work. I have learned a lot about what it takes to be a writer by reading his work and the work of his sometime annotator, Jess Nevins.
Q3. Do you really believe in Aliens or are you just a guy with an overactive imagination?
Q3. My wife would absolutely say I have an overactive imagination and I would agree with her. I do believe there is life on other planets. The notion is not so outlandish when you consider that just over five centuries ago, we thought the world was flat and if you sailed too far, your ship would drop off the planet. We laugh at the notion now but I suspect future generations will scoff at us thinking we are the only sentient beings in the universe.
Q4. There are a lot of strong female characters in your story. Why is that?
Q4. I believe women are as capable as men in all aspects of life. I did not consciously make an effort to show this, but I am glad you noticed.
Q5. Do you think readers of Sci-Fi will be turned off by the retelling of Christianity, to put it mildly?
Q5. I hope not. I respect all beliefs. My story does not in any way dismiss the notion of God or Christianity. What I do is challenge how people interpret what they have read and been taught. We see it in our lives now where often the smallest piece of information passed from one person to the next is inaccurate. Now take that notion and apply it to vast amounts of information/stories circulating for thousands of years. How accurate is it going to be? Things are bound to be confused and twisted because we are human, and to be human is to be flawed. Stay with the series and you will see this play out in a big way.
Q6. Do think Sci-Fi/Fantasy readers are receptive to the idea of a Black Man/White Woman relationship?
Q6. I have found Sci-Fi/Fantasy fans to be the most open-minded people on the planet. Quentin being black is not some cheap stunt to draw controversy or some political statement. There is reason why his skin color happens to be dark and the tale behind it is essential to the character. The reader will learn this in Book Three and it will make sense.
Q7. Is there an overall theme to your work that you would like to share with us?
Q7. The Opportvnvs Adest series is a science fiction take on the Great War that is prevalent in every religion . Along the way, I explain the origins behind legends, myths, fairytales, and folklore throughout the world. I venture into why the planet is littered with so many fantastic unexplained things like the Pyramids, Stonehenge, UFOs, etc. The theme of the series deep dives into these things along with the bible. I challenge many of the things we have been taught in a big way.
Q8. Finally, give us a peek into what is going to happen with the rest of the Opportvnvs Adest series. What can fans look for from you in the next few years?
Q8. Sidereus Nuncius is only the introduction to the alternate universe I have created for Earth and the rest of the universe. The other books will be released one after another so readers can enjoy binge reading and not wait. Hostis Humani Generis (Book Two) will explore the origins behind Rex Talion and how he allied himself with the Degans. Temet Nosce (Book Three) will show Earth on the precipice of Armageddon and how the main characters react to the state of affairs. Finis Omnium Reum (Book Four) All hell breaks loose. Literally.
Once the complete series is out there, I will release The Encyclopedia of Opportvnvs Adest. This is a 100 page book that goes into detail about the characters, worlds, weapons you meet. It will go into those only mentioned, and backstories of others in the universe not encountered in the series.
Expect the unexpected and expect to be entertained. Many other characters will be introduced and their motivations may or may not be clear to you. There will be plenty of bread crumbs for the reader to devour along the way so he/she is not cheated each time there is a revelation. The more you learn, the more questions you will have as the story unravels. Nothing is what it appears to be.
The Opportvnvs Adest Timeline will be follow Book Four.
This was without a doubt my favorite and most ambitious part of crafting the series. Here I will give readers the history of my alternate Earth from 4.6 billion years ago to 2020. I thoroughly enjoyed mixing and matching real historic events with my twisted take on the world. You want to know heavily debated topics like why the pyramids were built, did Atlantis exist, or who really killed Kennedy. I have your answers those questions and many more.
Remember this is the world of Opportvnvs Adest. What you believe is false. What you know is untrue. So where lies the truth? Decide for your yourself.
I really enjoyed meeting with fellow readers and writers and talking shop. There is so much creativity out there, my only regret is not having time to read all. But it will not stop me from trying.
Until next time.
Be well.

The Anti-Life Manifesto
Hello there.
Throughout history, we know there have been would be dictators, conquerors, and stone cold killers who have written declarations of intent.
The Megalomaniac in the Opportvnvs Adest series, Rex Talion has created one too and it is called The Anti-Life Manifesto.
This 8 page story will bring you deep into the mind of the madman who is pushing the world to doomsday. Prepare to be entertained and shocked.
Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Now anyone who subscribes for my blog #ethanhoward918.wordpress.com will get it FREE. Folks that have already done so, a big THANK YOU! Yours is on the way.
People who have read Sidereus Nuncius and give it a review on Amazon & Goodreads will get it free as well.
I also will be releasing the other three parts to the Opportvnvs Adest series in rapid session VERY SOON so the Manifesto will be the perfect addition to the story.
Rex Talion appeared briefly in Sidereus Nuncius and you learn a little bit about him. That will change because Talion takes center stage in Hostis Humani Generis, Temet Nosce, and the final installment which is appropriately called Finis Omnium Reum.
Oh, if you have not checked out Sidereus Nuncius, I STILL have much love for you. You can snag it on Amazon.
You will be happy that you did.
Promise.
See you soon.

Book Review: Prescription For Ratings: The Committe
After watching two rather exciting football games, I read a treasure of a short story called Prescription for Ratings: The Committee by James Courtney & Kaisy Wilkerson-Mills.
The story takes place in the year 3208 where the rich and powerful exploit and degrade the less fortunate.
You would think society would have learned something by the 33rd century!
Well I can tell you that is not the case. The less fortunate (or D-Classers) fight in brutal fashion on television for the entertainment of the masses and profit for the elite.
Mills & Courtney do an excellent job of keeping the action and dialogue crisp. This is Part Two of their series, and I was able to understand and enjoy the overall story and concept after a couple paragraphs.
Conflict is often an essential ingredient for a good story and Mills & Courtney deliver on this as well. The protagonist, Dr. Tyler Wright is an intelligent, caring man. He is also a weak man and succumbs to stronger wills around him. I am hoping he will get a backbone and no longer be a part of a society he secretly abhors.
Oh, there is also a very interesting mystery at the end of the story that has me looking forward to Part Three.
Well done, people. Thank you for the creativity. You have a new fan.
Cheers.

Evil Personified
Hello there.
I left off the last blog saying I would discuss some of the characters in Book Two of the Opportvnvs Adest series.
For now, I only want to focus on Rex Talion.
Much of the book is devoted to him and his rise to power.
Now I read comics and watch action movies like many of you out there and we have seen a number of great villains. I said in the previous bog, Talion is the worst of the worst and I mean it.
Now you may ask: What separates this guy from a Lex Luthor, Dr. Doom, Loki, or classic Bond bad guy?
I would answer there is a likeable factor with them. Many of those baddies have things you like about them. A nobility, a sense of honor, reclaiming past glory, or a protective nature that leads some misguided and sometimes terrible actions.
Ultimately those bad guys want to RULE.
Rex Talion wants to kill every living thing on the planet and grind the world into dust. Hence the title Hostis Humani Generis (Enemy of the Human Race)
Talion does not talk about his plans to an adversary or create exotic deathtraps. No, if you are on his radar, there is only one outcome. Pure and simple. No compromise. Every human is plaything waiting to be destroyed by his hand.
He is THE Apex Predator among man.
You get the idea.
Let us go a little deeper.
There are three things that determine just how much damage a bad guy can and will do. Those things are means, motive, and opportunity.
Going with real life here for a moment. Ted Bundy was certainly evil by most standards. Research states he had a tumultuous childhood and a number of sexual issues. He was a predator who deeply hated women but limited to traveling in a beat up VW bug and doing odd jobs. He was also considered an attractive man with a gift of gab. Thank goodness we did not have the internet back in the 70’s.
Now take someone like that and give him money, power, and fame. Mix in tactical brilliance, a superiority complex, and a group of allies from hell (literally) and you have Rex Talion.
. Book Two gives you Talion’s origin. What would turn someone into such a monster? The story will lay it all out. As I was writing it, I was forced to look at myself and ask, how would I react if I were put in similar circumstances. Could I retain the goodness I claim to have?
Now nearly every megalomaniac, spree killer, etc., has a written document explaining the reasons for their actions. Talion is no different.
Before Hostis Humani Generis is released, I will be putting out something called the Anti-Life Manifesto.
This little 3 page story will outline the aforementioned means, motive, and opportunity for Rex Talion in his own words. It will be a great set up for Hostis story and give you a view of the world through the eyes of a madman.
Oh…..and its free. It will be released on various sites soon. Stay tuned. Check it out. You will not be disappointed.
Until next time.
Peace.
EH.

Hostis Humani Generis: Free Will vs Predestination
Hello there.
I hope the new year brought you much joy.
Now let us get down to it.
Sidereus Nuncius introduced you to the Opportvnvs Adest universe. You had chance to meet the central characters, Quentin, Regina & Dante Tate, and Rex Talion, albeit very briefly.
I recapped the story in my last blog so I will not do it again.
Hostis Humani Generis .
The title means the enemy of the human race.
This story is very different from Sidereus Nuncius. Sidereus set the stage for the series but Part Two takes you in a different direction.
Do not worry, Quentin is in the story too. In fact, there is a big revelation about him. I left plenty bread crumbs in Sidereus and a few readers have private messaged and nailed what it is.
Props to them.
Back to Hostis. Know that it is twice as long as Part One and it focuses on what may be the most vile, evil character in literature, Rex Talion.
While Sidereus hints at Talion’s intentions, Hostis puts it all on display. He is the king of terror and you are going to meet this man as a child and learn the events that shaped him.
I should warn you, these things I show you are not pretty, nor are the things this man does to ascend to power. He does it through through murder and mayhem.
Why does Rex Talion do these things?
The simple answer would be: because he can. Being the world’s richest man has it perks. However, it goes deeper than that. Talion is angry about his childhood (like so many people, right?) and wants to punish the world. He also has been told it is his destiny to destroy the world.
The latter part is because he receives information out of a certain book identifying Talion as the third and final evil who will usher chaos and destruction into the 21st century.
There are parts of Hostis where Talion struggles with this. The thought even terrifies him. He is faced with the ability to reject it all at various points in the story, but he choses not to. He embraces evil.
Free will. We all have it. At least, I would like to think we do and we are not just playing out some cosmic string.
What do YOU think?
I have this phrase I use in life and in this series when one is on the precipice of a defining moment: “Decide for yourself”
Thoughts for another time………
In the next blog, I will identify some of the new characters in Part Two. There are plenty and you might need a scorecard, but I can assure you that everyone you meet is vital in the grand scheme of the story and they are quite interesting.
That is all for now.
Be well.
