19:19:03: I'm in Atlanta...tired, ready for shower and bed.
19:24:30: The good news--over 2000 words written on train today. The bad news: bedbugs bite. But in which bed did the bugs bite (train/hotel?)
19:25:00: I'm betting on train.
20:12:29: A couple of new posts up at http://www.paksworld.com/blog/ about the trip to Dragon*Con and my schedule there.
20:15:18: Don't know. Hope not. Will fumigate fiercely when I get home. I use the luggage racks & then stack empties in a corner.

Travel to Dragon*Con

Monday evening I got on the train to San Antonio (from Austin), got off that train and about 30 minutes later boarded the next, the Sunset Limited on its way from California to New Orleans.   Hit the sack and woke (briefly) when the train left at midnight.  A good trip to New Orleans, marred only by upset stomach from something eaten before the trip or early in it (and I'd brought food, so it's my fault, not the train's.)

Overnight in New Orleans at Le Pavillon, a hotel I'm very VERY glad I...

18:00:13: In New Orleans--Le Pavillon is a super-lovely hotel, just what I was hoping for when I got off the train.
18:01:09: Managed a thousand words today on the netbook on the train. Maybe more tonight, but more important to catch train in AM.
18:02:04: Still hating Windows 7 (took away some of stuff I use most often) and Word 2010, but the work got done.

07:37:31: Tomorrow I leave for Dragon*Con. Am I packed yet? All organized? Ready to step on the train? (Stop sniggering, you in the corner...)
07:38:12: The "to do" list grows like fall spiderwebs, catching me at every turn.
16:59:07: Made a stab at an easy descant during rehearsal this morning--and didn't sing it in the service (had strong sops. Needed altos on melody.)
16:59:59: The bread knife has gone missing. Bought loaf of nice tough sourdough bread...might need to bring in a saw.

15:38:29: Back from "Geekfest" at CTC, and two workshops. Made lemon cookies. Stain still in blouse. Called store--will hold a duplicate for me...
15:39:26: ...as I really need it for Dragon*Con & there's not time for it to go through dry cleaner's. Will pick up on way home from church.
22:09:44: 40,000+ words this month. I think I'll quit there until I'm on the train.

It Ain't Equal 'Til It's Equal...

A friend's Tweet pointed me to this article on gender bias in NYT book reviews.   The article is spot on, IMO, in its general intent--to point out that what women write is judged differently than what men write.   Since I am just a few days out of learning that an Austin paper wrote the annual pre-convention article about ArmadilloCon and once again (as in past years) did not mention any women writers attending.  Despite having had the problem pointed out in previous years, and the reporter ...
