RT Magazine award nominations - THE JEZEBEL!

Amazing surprise this morning, an email from my agent with the exciting news that my novel, THE JEZEBEL, has been nominated for an RT Magazine critics award. I'm stunned and delighted to see my name there! Very exciting, and great motivation for the work I have to do this week. Woohoo! There will be fizz tonight :)

A bundle of love

This bundle of fun is what has been keeping me away from the keyboard this past couple of weeks. Meet our 3 kitties! The tabby boy at the back is Ziggy Stardust. The Ginger and white boy in the middle is The Minion. And the little black and white girl on the left is Geisha Girl, our adorable little goth princess (she's obviously as good with her eye liner as I ever was ;o) Geisha really is a little lady and whereas her brothers are keen to treat toys like prey, hurl them around and batter them to death, she elegantly carries a jingle ball around in her mouth like it's her own kitten.
Even though they are very different in build they are all from the same litter. Their mum was a tortoiseshell who was abandoned and gave birth in a garden. They were given a second chance thanks to the work of the awesome Wharfe Valley Cats Protection League who we adopted them from. Their fosterer thinks that maybe there were 2 or 3 different dads involved, which would explain a lot.

It's hard to get a photo of all three sitting still and posing, but this was the first time they all tried to get on the lap together – much pushing and shoving and climbing over one another. They are very playful and affectionate and we adore them. I'll try to share a better snap soon.   

Back online.. and some important news

I've been offline for a few weeks, time out for house renovation followed by the arrival of our trio of new kittens – Minion, Ziggy Stardust, and Geisha Girl - expect lots of kittie photos soon!
I've also been away from the desk in every sense, so if you've emailed me and are awaiting a reply it'll be soon. I'm almost all set up with my office again and will be back at it properly on Monday 4th. Just have to find that elusive computer cable amongst a zillion boxes, haha.

Meanwhile, I want to point you in the direction of a very important fundraiser organised by author Bronwyn Green. I've had a centenary, of sorts.

At the end of last week my editor asked me to update/check my bio for my next novel (THE BURLINGTON MANOR AFFAIR, April 2014) and it mentioned how many anthologies my work has appeared in. I thought I'd better have a recount and - to my astonishment -  I've now had work in 109 anthologies/magazines. I hadn't even realised I'd reached 100! It was a crazy goal I had at one point then I sort of forgot about it when I began working more on novel length fiction. With translations and the various Harlequin Spice Briefs books it crept over without me noticing. What a lovely surprise!  More to the point.. it's a great excuse to open a bottle of wine and parteeeeee.. (you know me, any excuse lol!)
