Today marks the anniversary of a very special day. On April 3, 1836, the Lord appeared to Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery in the Kirtland Temple.  Moses, Elias, and Elijah also appeared and committed the keys to their dispensations. Elijah's appearance in the Kirtland Temple fulfilled the prophecies found in Malachi 3:1 and 4:5-6. See Doctrine and Covenants section 110.  January through May of 1836 was a time of great spiritual blessings and manifestations for the Latter-day Saints in Kirtland, Ohio, similar to the spiritual outpouring in Acts 2:1-4.

Kirtland Temple Dedication Anniversary Today

Today marks the 177th anniversary of the dedication of the Kirtland Temple. The prophet Joseph Smith offered the dedicatory prayer (see D&C 109). The Kirtland Ohio Temple was the first temple dedicated in our dispensation.
